Well if you actually read 1984, you'd no that none of the superpowers wanted to destroy eachother. Their power rested solely on "defeating the enemy". With this logic in mind, they would never invest too much into wars in order to create perpetual war in order to keep the party in power.

One of my favorite interpretations of 1984 is that none of the nations actually exist, and there never was a nuclear war. It's all just propaganda that no one actually questions in a single total-control state.

We are also proles, so we don't need to be survaid constantly. But if they ever do need to watch us, we conveniently carry cameras and gps' everywhere. These are pretty much the only similarities beside the fact that corporations keep us entertained and distracted so we never get anything real accomplished
