My mother-in-law gave me her surefit design dress kit she never used. I have read the instructions but I’m glad I have found videos to follow as I am very much a visual learner. Thank you so much Joy! I subscribed to your channel years ago.

I love when you do these videos on how to fit a pattern to our body. I have paid for a class on Craftsy but I learned so much more from you. You are very detailed and you don't rush through it. Your positive attitude and sometimes silly comments make your class a joy to watch. Thanks so much for doing these types of videos. God bless you!

Once I have finished my current quilt project I’ll be going through this again, with you, when I make my blueprint. I hope my comment finds you and your husband both safe, well and happy 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

Today I learned it pays to read the instructions! I was not aware that the blueprint was not the same as the pattern. You have definitely filled in the blanks and made understanding the Sure Fit Design System easier. Thank you so much.

Joy, you are crazy and I love watching you, don’t ever change. Thank u for introducing me to sure fit system. You said you were using the shirt kit, I don’t understand why you chose shirt kit over the dress kit. I thought shirt kit was for jackets and button front blouse. Wish I had some of your energy. Take care, love your videos.

What a fantastic idea regarding the facing of the front bodice just leaving that extended part of the tracing paper is great ! I just purchased the dress kit from SFD in UK as I live in Europe (no discount 😂) . I messaged Glenda and told her as yr faithful follower on UTube I was convinced to buy this kit thanks to JOY B.
Hope I do not mess up this pattern !
I should receive it within 5 days !
Take care dear Joy , and thank you 🙏 for all yr help , u r the BEST xxxx

Hi Joy. Thank you so much for your videos relating to Sure Fit Designs, and your fun and inspiring tutorials and demonstrations. I love your friendliness and your sense of humour. When you "tossed" away the fabric scraps after cutting out your blouse pieces I literally laughed out loud!
Anyway.. I'm brand new to sewing - or, I should say, brand new to dressmaking, I'm more of an intermediate with a sewing machine - and I haven't sewn any clothing type projects yet. I was researching how to read patterns and generally gathering information before I put the patterns I've bought to good use, and during this research I discovered the "B cup horror!" and the full bust adjustment via cutting up the pattern, and then, finally, Sure Fit Designs dart system and making a tailormade blueprint.
I debated buying those kits because they're kinda pricey for a beginner, but after watching her videos, and yours, I realised I had an opportunity to get those commercial patterns to fit me right from the start, as well as to use my own blueprint to pick and swap bits from different patterns, and to also make my own.
It's gotten me excited about learning to make my own clothes again and I decided to start with the dress kit (impatiently waiting on delivery now lol).. so thank you! I can't express just how much you've helped me and I appreciate you :D

Joy, first of all just thank you so much for the time and effort you have put in this to help us all out. Glenda explained things good but you made some things a bit simpler and had some real good tips. I just watched this first video tonight and kind of reviewed things. It was after 9:30 pm EST when I watched it and east coast lady is tired. I can’t wait though tomorrow to get going on it. Again thank you so much and I can’t wait to see and work along with the rest of the videos.

Joy is the perfect name for you because you're so joyful and also bring us so much joy. How many yards of fabric are needed to make this pretty blouse? I have similar measurements to you Joy. I'm 72 yrs. young. haha I am so jealous of your arms. Mine have gotten scary looking, lots of lines, sags and dimples so I can't wear any sleeveless blouses like the oh so cute ones you wear. boo hoo I am thankful I have arms. Sometimes I think if you complain about something you might just get shown it could be a lot worse. So wasn't complaining just making a observation.

    • @Joy4650B
      @Joy4650B  3 года назад

2 1/2 yards will make just about any blouse. I usually have left over fabric, but that is WAY better than not having enough.

Joy you are a brilliant teacher...thank you. I thought you were so detailed and I love the tips you share that Glenda does not do. Those are so helpful. Did you know if you place the point of the dart on the corner of your cutting table it will be easier to fold up? Just an FYI, the vellum is really loud when you move it around, I’ll live, no problem with the noise, it might hurt others.

Never thought of using a smaller size dot for small chest. I believe it’s known as a flat chest. Stopped trying to make tops years ago cos difficult to fit chest. Then I read Nancy Zieman. Learned the facing trick from a commercial pattern many moons ago its brilliant but couldn’t manage the flat chest. Not yet made a top from SFD just cut the blue print, but I can’t quite understand why you won’t include facin at this stage. Do yo make another if so why ??

Curve is made to round front in 3ď mean material will flow towards center front after sewing (if grain is kept) and bigger size chest pearson will not have shorter front from back (what is mine problem with all my clothing both in UK (even from good brand like M&S (they don't sew for European shape if body).
