I was openly critical of Islam, probably about 10 years ago. I was wrong about Islam. I am actually thinking of taking my shahada very soon. I believe I am being steered onto the right path.

Islam is truth because Islam teaches strict monotheism, instills the best way of life for an individual, offers the best reorganization of society and state as a whole, and provides answers to existential questions. The part that makes it hard to believe that Islam is the truth. Is that Mohammed kept slaves. God freed them. Mohammed admitted to being possessed by demons. Jesus cast out demons. And then Mohammed contradicts himself a lot by saying to trust the gospels. But then says that the gospels were corrupted. And then used Jewish traditions. To lure in followers. But then said not to read the Torah or the gospels. Which basically would have disproved him as a prophet. Mohammed slaughtered. Jesus loved. And then, on top of all of it, Jesus was known for miracles. Whereas the only miracle Mohammed ever claimed to have performed was the Quran. Because he said it sounded too beautiful to be written by any human being. Which doesn’t really prove anything.

The Quran was put to paper years after the death of Mohamed by some of his closest friends and first followers and it was not even edited from just the longest chapter to the smallest with fattiha in the beginning and only evidence that you have that it was uncorrupted is that there is a verse that says that Allah will preserve it. Second the books that contains the Hadith were also written hundred of years after the death of Mohamed So to take it as a fiable source is to suppose that for example alboukhari was excellent scholar and researcher without political agenda and the whoever was in charge and allowed it to be written and published also was like him with no political agenda and all of the guys before them that preserved the Hadith were also unbiased with no political agenda and excellent memories. You are right. But understand the context. 1. Quran verses are revealed with the span of 23 years. So, you have to read the whole Quran with context also. Like when that verse revealed. In this way, you better understand what and when to do. 2. Take your question, as example. Quran said that give good advice to others, and stop them from bad. Now Quran here is saying us that whether there is a Muslim or non-muslim, its our duty to give good advice and stop them from bad. Yes we can only advice at individual level. At government level (Islamic State) things are little different. Now the verse you are mentioning is also right. But this is last step. Now after you advice them but they reject your good advice and start pin pointing issues in your good advice, like they are rejecting totally. Now you have completed your duty as a Muslim, then you can pray for them etc but don't need to argue anymore. And Allah knows best. Also, it's just my try to explain this topic. The Quran was put to paper years after the death of Mohamed by some of his closest friends and first followers and it was not even edited from just the longest chapter to the smallest with fattiha in the beginning and only evidence that you have that it was uncorrupted is that there is a verse that says that Allah will preserve it.
Second the books that contains the Hadith were also written hundred of years after the death of Mohamed
So to take it as a fiable source is to suppose that for example alboukhari was excellent scholar and researcher without political agenda and the whoever was in charge and allowed it to be written and published also was like him with no political agenda and all of the guys before them that preserved the Hadith were also unbiased with no political agenda and excellent memories. So in a way Islam you can argue also could have possibly been corrupted maybe not the Quran but at least the sunna

Quran tells to fight all non-muslims till the whole world comes under sharia law. Even lies and deception is allowed in islam for islam's benefit.
So muslims can make numerous false claims as facts, the unaware non-muslims will not realise it.
Muslims can claim quran is the word of god. While quran says, sun sets in muddy water, sun sits under allah's throne whole night and asks permission to rise again in the morning, sperm comes from between the ribs and backbone, camel urine is medicine, all animals live in groups, all animals are made in pairs, fly's one wing is toxic and other wing is healing, stars are stones thrown at shaitan, moon have its own light, etc.
If non-muslims make these statements, then muslims can use taqqiyas/lies/deception to argue and win.
You are right. But understand the context.
1. Quran verses are revealed with the span of 23 years. So, you have to read the whole Quran with context also. Like when that verse revealed. In this way, you better understand what and when to do.
2. Take your question, as example. Quran said that give good advice to others, and stop them from bad. Now Quran here is saying us that whether there is a Muslim or non-muslim, its our duty to give good advice and stop them from bad. Yes we can only advice at individual level. At government level (Islamic State) things are little different.
Now the verse you are mentioning is also right. But this is last step. Now after you advice them but they reject your good advice and start pin pointing issues in your good advice, like they are rejecting totally. Now you have completed your duty as a Muslim, then you can pray for them etc but don't need to argue anymore.

Islam doesn't need of lies. And also Quran clearly said that it's in the hands of Allah to give guidance to anyone.
So no debate or argument or person, has ability to give guidance to anyone. So understand that, our duty is to give good advice and stop them from bad activities.

If Allah's says in the Quran that there are 7 sevens then they are. That's it. Now we don't need any lies or scientific proof. Read the verse 2 of chapter 2. It's a part of emaan to believe in the things that we can't see in this world. So no argument can show the Paradise or hell to us, we can't see angels etc. But we have to believe.
So try to understand this world is test. You can't give proof of everything. That's why in CH 3 of Quran, Allah said there are verses who are Mushtabat. Now who is going to prove them?
Please understand that our duty is just to deliver the message. Yes if we can explain the logical things, sure we can do it. But don't need to lie. That's simple.
