@peacefulbliss8716 Hi, thanks for your comment I really appreciate it! Thanks for noticing I really didn't want it to be a sales video more of a look into Carly Diagnostics. As you can see from the comments below it has mixed reviews.
@Revel83 Good question! I believe it does but I'm not 100%. You can always use a 9v battery with two wires placing them where the electrical connection/plug is and the brake will retract. Just switch the wires back around to reverse the polarity and the piston will move back in. 👍🏻
Carly isn't that great for the money and always seems to show fault codes that aren't present in other software. Plus it operates on an auto renew annual subscription buried in the terms and conditions that you have to agree to. They give you no notice when it's up for renewal and customer support is awful. Especially at trying to get my money back!
@aexhg Hi thanks for sharing! Its great to get peoples thoughts on Carly. That's not the first time I've heard that actually It's a bit worrying really! Thanks again!
I got this a few months back if you have a Seat don't bother. Customer service answer questions with questions and then offer you a 20% refund. Brought up 16 codes on my 2year old car most of them serious enough for me to take it to the main dealer and the dealer scanned and zero faults found. Kept asking me for logs which I kept sending and just more questions I'd already answered. Tried coding 3 Seats and not one would code with carly only the lap timer. Carly told me Seats and Vw's are notoriously hard to code and at this point I asked for a refund to which I was told no
@CrazyKnowHow That sounds shocking! Thank you for sharing hopefully that will save others from having to go through the same trouble. That's not the first time I've heard that Carly keeps giving false codes. Thanks again for sharing 👍🏻
I received this unit today after seeing it recommended by Mat Armstrong. I got it specifically to activate watching video on the TFT display whilst parked, a function which Mat said it could do. I have watched many vids on RUclips about Carly‘s functionality, and none mentioned freeing up the screen to watch video content. Can you do this with Carly? Thanks 👍
@robertw.1499 Hi Robert great question. I'm not 100% sure without double checking but I'm happy to look into it for you. What model car do you have and I will take a look. It would be good information to know and for others to see too. 👍🏻
To me it’s not worth the money. I bought one last year and it was not possible to do such thing as register a new battery in a e66. That’s a very basic function that should work. Also take into account that the fee is annual. Not just a onetime cost.
What do you think of Bimmer Code / Link / Tool? I find their one off payment is a nice touch over Carly's monthly sub. Would you be able to do a comparison about these if you have them all, compared to Carly. Many thanks.
@Termi-Motovlogs Hi there thanks for the comment. I've seen it and it looks pretty good! I would love to do a comparison video between the 2. I think I will reach out to Bimmer Code to see if they would be interested. I didn't know they were an one off payment too, thats very interesting!
Code is for sadly coding, link is diagnostics both by SG Software. Bimmer Tool is by the same name and seems to provide a similar service to Carly but with a 1 off payment. More entry level and safe coding / diagnostics. Thankyou again for all your videos, my e60 is slowly getting there with your advice and instructions.
Carly is a rip-off. No refunds and they hide the fact that it's subscription-based. Deceptive advertising, sketchy business practices, no refunds, questionable value/functionality vs a standalone OBD2 scanner.
It's a stupid way to run a company, it should be a lifetime subscription without any yearly fee, a $5 update fee would be acceptable. But not the full purchased fee!
I've just been ripped off by them and I am stuck with them for a year. No refunds are available once you have agreed to their terms and conditions. They go out of their way on their website, not to tell you that this is a recurring subscription. There is small print at the bottom of the payment page telling you that you are bound by the terms and conditions which is easily missed. What is actually happening is they are using German law and you are entering into a rental agreement with them. Cowboys
Would this allow me to activate rear fog lights for EU? I have moved my North American x3 G01 to Spain and I need to activate the rear fog lights. I also have to turn off the front orange lights that come on when the car is running. Any possible insight on these issues?
@RossBayCult Yeah I believe you can, I would double check with Carly and have it in writing though. A subscriber bought a Carly adapter and it didn't do something it said it could do so best to be safe and check. Also be aware there is a yearly subscription that automatically renews with Carly so if its just those things you were changing there might be better options.
I keep hearing that Bimmer Code is better than Carly, however, Bimmer Code doesn't appear to support my 2005 BMW Z4. :-( Seems that Carly is the only choice.... Does anyone know if you buy Carly WITH Smart Mechanic, can you delete it when you renew so you just pay for the coding subscription?
@Osamabeenleanin210 I'm not too sure. I'm hoping you can because I really want to put LCI rear lights on my e60. I should be getting a Bimmer Coder soon so I will be able to let you know.
@@TheBimmerFixer I appreciate it. I have a lci trunk for my e90 I was going to put on yesterday and while looking up videos to install it correctly I noticed most were saying you need something like Carly to code for the newer lights. @Osamabeenleanin210 Oh wow they really made that difficult for the e90! Something else that might need looking at as I found for the e60 is the light module needs changing and coding too. I was just looking on the Bimmer Code website and its quite helpful they can tell you what you are able to do on individual models and also suggest things that you may not be aware of the need doing too like the light module.

@acecin Hi, sorry to hear that and thank you for sharing its really good to get as much feedback as possible. I agree a traditional tool would be better. I'm hoping to get some on the channel soon. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
