[Congestion 1024] MAP21: Corpse Yard (UV-Max Demo)

  • okay, now we're in to the real maps for sickos part of this wad. this one is definitely a bit of an acquired taste, but i actually really like it. there's very little margin for error the whole way through - for example, the caged hell knights in the upper halls are positioned such that you need to press yourself against one of the walls to have enough room to dodge their shots. falling into the bit isn't much better as you get a little bit of cover and four mancubi covering most of the open space. unless you're psychic, trying to finish off one at a time will get you shot in the back faster than you can kill them. from there a series of alcoves open up progressively, granting resources but also spawning monsters in response. the map winds up being incredibly tight on resources, at least for me - i wound up with exactly zero ammo left on exit. thankfully didn't have to try to punch an archvile to death without berserk.
    and if the midi sounds familiar it's been used in alien vendetta map 1, among other places - originally from carmageddon.

    This map was pretty fun from what I remember. Definitely one of the better looking maps in my opinion, and it has the funny Alien Vendetta / Carmageddon midi. Nice run!
