Aluminium machining with an IRB 1600 industrial robot

  • This test is part of a comparison between robotic and CNC machining. The spindle was attached on both an IRB 1600 industrial robot and a Mazak CNC. In both tests, the machining forces were measured using a dynamometric table. In the case of the robot, forces and moments were also measured using an ATI force/torque sensor. In addition, the displacement of the spindle with respect to the workpiece were measured using an optical CMM (Creaform's C-Track).

    it hurts ! needs a much higher feedrate, especially with that high speed spindle motor... cool project though!

    which is the manufacturer?

    You are feeding way too slow. You are melting the aluminum instead of creating chips.
