As a guy who’s watched RUclips since I was a little boy, spanning every category and intent imaginable, I’ve learned that some can edit well, some film well, some can pick and choose just the right things to share, some only show the exciting bits, some earnestly attempt to share a feeling, some teach well, some connect with their audience well, but I can honestly say that you guys, (and if Elayna still does all the editing especially speaking to your work) have absolutely and holistically mastered every facet of telling a story through video. You have blurred the lines between it all and control it like it’s a paintbrush. And you guys make amazing art.

This was the most enjoyable video you've ever done! It felt like being there, well done to all of you.
It's odd because I don't really care for kids on a regular day, but Darwin has absolutely stolen my heart. He seems to be the most joyful, laid-back yet cuddly creature ever. He does have his cranky moments, but he's so -go-with-the-flow charming and those eyes and smile are just too much to resist. Both of you seem to have the parenting thing down so well, not afraid to correct when needed but also not hovering and controlling every move they make. It's refreshing to see such a healthy relationship between all of you and how easily you integrate having other crew on board, making everyone feel like part of the family.

love the no story line video's, makes me feel like I'm part of the crew and day to day stuff, travelling, dealing with the weather, kids growing up... The part of Darwin taking his first steps reminded me when my son took his first, Christmas day, walking between me and his mother... And the "alone time" of you two shows you still have a thing for each other...
Loved how calm Riley is. Even his voice when he got blinded by the flashlight was stern, but 100% calm. That's what you need when things get serious.
Also I'm pretty sure Elayna put the foul weather pants on backwards... 😂 Doesn't change the fact that she was a capable and equally calm sailor to the skipper in that storm 👍

Honestly, the last few videos have been some of the best where we get to see you all being silly and just being REAL with one another. I do enjoy the educational moments when you're in new areas, but the ones that are the best are seeing you and Rilley just relaxing and sharing your lives with us. I am so thankful for each video you put out because I know that I won't be able to live that lifestyle (a serious fear of water), living vicariously through your family is the next best thing. After listening to the crazy news, fighting the day to day work load, and sometimes stress from the world around me, watching your videos is so calming. Living a second life vicariously through you guys, and loving it.
There's also something magical about music and the ocean, and Elayna's intros and outros really bookend an hour of spending time with you guys. As others have said, it really does feel like you guys are family friends and not just internet entertainment.
To the extent where you're comfortable, I think most of us don't mind seeing the tough as well as the fun parts of your life. Hopefully that also reduces the amount you feel like you need to live up to some image.
I've watched this video two times already, and I know that I will watch it again. The rhythm and pace of it is amazing, and it has calmed me and my anxiety better than most things I have tried. I just think that I owe you guys an huge thank you, for you have been played a part in raising me with your videos. I have watched every single one from the beginning and brought with me your values and learnings and I am forever grateful for that. What your videos bring to the world is something else. It is hard work but effortless and it is beautiful but you show the rough parts and it is fun but it is also calm and it is all over the place sometimes but it has a story to tell as well and no other creator has this perfect balance that makes it impossible not to love what you do and your videos. I LOVE these hour long episodes. I know it's a lot on you guys to put out all of the content that you do, especially these long ones, but I selfishly wish more were this long. I know that it isn't realistic though. It's like Aemon said when he and Bec were there; you guys aren't just filming and editing videos for a living like most vloggers, you also have what is especially a house that requires a full time jobs worth of attention to maintain and utilize, AND you have a toddler and an infant. It is really incredible.

No movie production could have replicated the emotions of fear/excitement nor the physical rains/lightening/thunder film in the first person experience, as you have done. It's great that as viewers, we know you guys well enough to know that this experience was extraordinary, but manageable given your expertise. At 77, I'm living my life through the experiences of others, the two of you I've been following since the beginning and thoroughly enjoy your content.
When Riely was diving the murky Current Cut, his apprehension was evident in the way that his “head was on swivel” constantly looking around for sharks in the gloom. Good ominous music selection. I really enjoyed the “travelogue” videos that hit on history and culture, but these long-form videos are much more relaxing to watch.

I Said it Last Tine and imma say it again: I LOVE These Long episodes! Loved seeing more of the sailing (as in putting sails up and down and pulling ropes and such - seeing how it all workes.) And i also think this episode portraied a lovely chemistry between the two of you Riley and Elayna! All of it Made me feel happy and relaxed. Some creators find "their rhythm " when editing and stick to it. What I love about SLV is the ability to change rhythm. You can't be a good film maker without heart and you can't edit without musicality.

Actually, I personally enjoy it when you have visitors on the boat. I really loved the episodes with Eamon and Beck, It's also enjoyable when you show the crew and also love when you spend a few nights at various places on different islands and show the culture and people there. This video is so much in just under an hour. As I sit at my deck in Green Bay Wisconsin I feel as if I've been transported there with you out on those islands. The struggles, the weather, the food issues....all of it. The sense of humor between all crew members, and the kids as well, is heart warming. You're out there living a life most of us can only dream of. Thank you for sharing so much of it with the rest of us. This isn't content. This is life. I was honestly laughing almost hysterically on and off at some of the silliest things in the video. Riley being a complete goof with the upside down footage. It was reminiscent of some of the really early on videos like when he tossed a flying fish at Elayna's bum. lol You're certainly doing things right with this crazy thing we call life!

Would like to see episode(s) on disaster drills, perhaps dramatizations of MOB, Fire, holed, sinking, pan pan, SOS, life rafting, stranding on deserted island... Was thinking that the life raft could be donated for second use activities afterwards. Would be interesting to know what second uses other could come up with as well. The challenges of the kids in such scenarios would be interesting to see in detail. Also you started in on a really big subject communications on the vessel and roles, it would also be nice to see more details, do you use key phrases to signify specific meaning, i.e. "imperative", "that's an order", "no delay".... What words convey exactly what level of action/response. That is very challenging and deep subject.
Keep doing what you are doing. I like the longer videos, it’s like going to the movies every Monday night.
However, I’m an odd one and would love to see the different types of shells, rocks and agates in every anchorage.
