"Listen to understand, not to respond." This emphasizes the importance of active and empathetic listening, a key aspect of fostering open communication in leadership, especially with Generation Z.👍

Not to defend gen Z 😂, but on the flip side, I had the opportunity to work with an extremely bright software engineering intern last summer. He came to the job with open ears and ready to listen to advice.

Humility is the key to a life well lived. Understanding you don’t know anything like you think. Be willing to learn. Be teachable. Work hard.

Thanks for all you do Simon.
Entitlement is a great way to describe it. As a 22 year old I’ve observed it both in myself and in my peers through leadership roles I’ve taken on in college.
My perspective on it is that our generation greatly wants to see change in the world, but doesn’t know how to create it yet. That combined with information overload can make lengthy processes seem frustratingly slow, even if it’s the established way. Like you said at the beginning, I think the entitlement piece comes out when those frustrations come out almost as resentment to the older generations for not thinking of their idea of change sooner.
I think a greater emphasis on leadership education across the board, combined with good opportunities and mentorships can help bridge that gap.
From your experience working with leaders, what are your thoughts on how that gap can be bridged more long term? If you have any videos to refer me to as well that would be great.

Wonderful summary. Great question, I have the same query.
There seems to be only pockets of education which include application of the education with practiced systematic leadership teaching. Do we need revolutionary integration?

@@angellombness4371 I believe we do need some form of revolutionary integration. The thing I’ve loved about leadership since I started learning about it, was seeing how many different ways similar concepts can be taught.
I’ve noticed it while watching sports, TV shows, movies, interviews, etc. which leads me to think it’s a universal discipline. Knowing that, I’ve naturally thought of ways that seeds of leadership education could be integrated at different stages of life for different audiences.
My idea of an ideal world is not one where everyone is a leader, but where everyone is capable of being a leader, and if certain lessons are integrated in creative ways for different age ranges, I think we as a society could create a better world for the future.
I have a lot of thoughts and ideas around why a revolutionary approach is needed, and how it could be done, so I’m glad you raised that question.

You would find your life empowered beyond my ability to explain, when you journal ,write down your prayers to God..and record the answers. Be sure to date both the request and the reply. I have been doing this off and on since I left Texas for Israel in 1982. And now ,I am in Canada, still getting answers to my everyday requests and still praying to Yeshua (Jesus). I watch One For Israel and the testimonies coming from Jewish people are awesome !❤

Nice to see a more level-headed and supportive video about the younger generations.
    It is very annoying with all of those videos that constantly bash the younger generations for everything, and sometimes even seem to enjoy doing it;
this video feels like a video that was made by actual adults.

I love Simon's overall messages, but this is not what I am seeing in business today. The question of entitlement that I'mstruggling with is not an informed generation with confidence. It is a generation who simply have no interest in working, but believe they deserve more money for showing up, giving no effort, ignoring the lessons of growth and absolutely believe that they shouldn't be expected to bring eve a tiny shred of value to the business at all. How do we help them andconvince them to care? (mind you, this is a company of amazing culture, appreciation, reward, leadership and actively takes a role i promoting them... they just don't seem to want to put in more than ten percent effort while saying 'you should pay me more to do the job I'm not doing already) THIS is what we are facing and I'm not sure how to inspire something more. Make a video about that please.

You claim this is an amazing company with great culture and promotion etc, but YOU claim that. Have you ever thought to ask how do THEY feel about the company? The answer is most likely very different.

@@pavelalexe9254what they feel and hope is pointless the moment they applied for the job and remain employed. Being your own competent man means you are free to hit the door whenever you smell the company you're in is shitty.
The company has begun long before the guy existed and will continue to exist long before they are gone.
It's not a bunch of inexperienced, casual, uninterested randos who's gonna change a company's culture for the worst.

As Simon was talking about how the new generation entering the workforce has more knowledge of data then the older generation, I thought he was going to talk about how that knowledge of data was going to be a disruptive innovation which will alter the balance of power. Maybe empathy will help companies survive this disruptive innovation.
