“Rock on Tommy” . Loved these two growing up. Back in the 80s they were huge on TV. So sad Bobby has passed.
Bobby Ball's ability to act like a child so convincingly was always a treat.
I recall seeing Cannon & Ball in the late 70s when they still played Working Mens Clubs here in Britain. Most Works had social clubs that a lot of these acts played every night. They brought the house down every time. They were perfect family entertainment, that everyone could enjoy. Bobby Ball (with the moustache) died in 2020, I was fortunate to meet him, and he was one of the nicest kindest people you could ever hope to meet. Love the channel. Stay safe.
Bought tears to my eyes been so long. Rock on Tommy. Miss them.
They were hilarious. They had their catch phrase of rock on Tommy. All the kids used to say it.
use to watch these on the pier at blackpool as a kid omg they were funny
And mime stretching the braces
"ROCK ON TOMMY". cough aheh aheh.
Another great comedy duo of that era. What was so sad was when Covid came into our lives in 2020, Bobby Ball did an interview on our local regional radio station and at the end he gave a message that we would get through this, we needed to be strong. This message and their theme tune was used each week to boost morale during the first lock down and people gained a lot from hearing this from such a familiar person. Only for Bobby to sadly die of covid in October 2020. 'Rock on Tommy!'
There was a period where they absolutely hated each other. They didn’t spend any time together other than on stage. Luckily they learned to love each other again.
My mum took me to see Cannon and Ball in Blackpool when I was a kid. I had the "Rock on Tommy" braces , apparently I kept shouting "rock on Tommy" my mum got told "Mrs can you shut that kid up." loved Cannon and ball, Rip!
Canon was like the strict father figure, and Bobby was the lovable cheeky little kid. That was the simple dynamic. 😋
Cannon and ball are legends , got hundreds of sketches hilarious, Tommy cant keep a straight face laughing at bobby in most of them . 👍👍👍
I used to work for Bobby Ball in the 80's.. He owned a nightclub in Rochdale, Lancashire. Called *_"Braces"_* My first ever job as a bartender.. lol
I went in there a couple of times
I always used to talk to Bobby on twitter, he used to follw me too. RIP Bobby - he was a victim of Covid.
Oh man I loved watching them when they was on a Saturday night. Cannon & Ball, Little & Large, such happy memories.
This is what was good about British Comedy. Tommy and Bobby were at the top of their game. Variety shows on TV in England were the best. You stayed in as a family to watch especially on a Saturday night. They toured the clubs of the North West of England and worked hard to get where they were. Im so glad i lived through all this wonderful entertainment. They were up against Little and Large i suppose.
Tommy is a great singer.
Its so sad we lost Bobby last year having circummed to COVID last year RIP Bobby
In the 80’s they were like Rock Star’s, 20 million watched there TV show every week, people queuing round the block for tickets, everywhere was sold out, making millions, too much drink, groupies the lot but my god they were funny. After the show’s they didn’t speak to each other, they had their own people and it got nasty. But Bobby found God and things changed then Tommy found God as well. I saw them 3 times in the 80’s as a kid and loved them, when Bobby died I cried, to never see that cheeky grin ever again will be hard but thank god for RUclips. God bless Tommy !
Back in their early days, Bobby Ball impressions were so popular at school, They were a massive hit with us kids.
I love it that you get the British sense of humour
God, I miss Bobby Ball. One of the sweetest and funniest men ever. RIP.
Loved watching those guys back in the eighties they would have 18 million watching their show every week back then
Adore Cannon and Ball, saw them live, almost injured myself laughing.
Cannon and Ball...very big tv comedy act in the 70's and 80's. I worked in a mens clothes shop in the late 80's and served Tommy Cannon a number of times. Cool guy, very funny in real life. Used to come in with his young wife and joke about choosing his clothes! :-)
Had the pleasure of watching these two in a panto when I was a kid. Loved them!
They actually did a film called the boys in blue where they played a couple of police officers, absolutely loved it haha
They were massive stars; proper old time variety show, no swearing, just fun. Bobby Ball made me howl as he was just like a kid dressed up as an adult. Rock on Tommy!
I remember seeing these 2 incredibly funny men when I was a young lad on a Haven holiday in Cornwall. I laughed so hard ❤
I had the pleasure of seeing these two in 2003 in staffordshire in the Uk and they just had the best chemistry. Two comedy legends
These two were such a pleasure to see! Saw them live and I was amazed how good they were! I was born a Glaswegian, brought up in Somerset (Yeah, complicated!) who moved to Wigan! I have worked all around the world in between but OMG the change in vocabulary & mannerisms within 50 miles is amazing!
You have to watch Canon and Ball playing snooker with Steve Davis
Proper "end of the pier" comedy! All the best comedians of that era started in variety shows.
On their TV show they had Toya Wilcox as the guest performer. Before that, she come on with Tommy Cannon dressed as Bobby Ball. A few seconds later Bobby walked on. During the raw about who's the real Bobby Ball, he said "He is an imposter. He's imposterating me".
I didn't even watch the vid before commenting... I just saw cannon and ball and had to say YES! best american watching brit comedy ever must surely be waiting for me to feast my eyes and ears on..... Squeeeeeee
Once you have seen some more Cannon and Ball you will recognise the relationship between them, how they bounced off one another. Cannon is the straight man and Bobby Ball always plays the joker. Hilarious.
Brings back memories of watching them in Blackpool. RIP Bobby Ball
Bobby ball plays the dad in the "not going out" sitcom.
He died not long after filming the Christmas special.
He was great in that, and it was a good casting.
And Tommy Cannon was the vicar when Lee marries Lucy
Went to see them live on stage in the mid 80s. They were my dad's favourite 2 piece.
Cannon & ball made a full length movie called "the boys in blue" obviously they played a pair of police officers.
Set in the early 80s, worth a look.
I found it on RUclips, it's based on the Will Hay film Ask a Policeman
@@BigyetiTechnologies prefer will hays "oh Mr porter"
Awful movie and belongs in the bin alongside most other British so called comedy movies
RIP Bobby Ball, he passed last year with covid complications
...because he had underlying illnesses...
@@annother3350 hence, why I said complications.
@@Charlie3vans Just making it clear -- it's the underlying illnesses killing people...
People can have underlying illnesses and not die…
@@annother3350 Please don't take the vaccine.
I watched and met these when I was younger. Legends.
Cannon N Ball gush that’s a pretty deep cut into British comedy
Cannon and Ball. Thanks for the reaction missed them both 👍
Blast from the past. they were bloody awesome.
Love to see you react to James Veitch's pranks especially his roommate prank...very funny.
I saw Cannon and Ball in Blackpool in the 80s, their warm up act was a then unknown Lenny Henry. Rock on Tommy.
Gentle comedy,with no thinking required
Went too see these Two back in the 1980's Bobby Ball scared the life out of me,he jumped off stage into the audience, unfortunately we lost Bobby last year too Covid
Always loved these two even the sketch with status quo superb rip Tommy
Prime time family TV, when I was younger watching this with my brother, sister and mum dad, a family... Now we all live apart (obviously) the memories. We're on this planet once for a short period of time., make the most of it, we get old very quick.
The small one Bobby Ball died of Covid last year. He was in 'Not Going Out' a TV series written by Lee Mack at the time. He was a comic genius.
Oh man, I remember watching The Cannon and Ball Show in the eighties when I was a kid, Bobby Ball was basically just a big child so I found him hilarious. Something similar to this you might want to see, but from the current millennium is Peacock & Gamble on Russell Howard's Good News, it's on youtube. Loving your reactions, thanks for spending your time keeping me entertained and partially sane.
I reccomend this one, thanks EB! Pls do the other ones too you will love them
R.I.P. Bobby Ball. He passed away last year from COVID-19. 😢
Its a pity American TV cant produce classics like this, we in the UK are so lucky to have so many talented people.
Canon and ball absolute awesome duo, you should watch their down the pub sketch hilarious
Tommy Cannon was actually a very fine singer, he just rarely had the chance to show it.
Oldham's finest, fitters at seddon Atkinson's they started out as the Johnson brothers
They were so funny I've just watched Bobby Ball in an episode of The Last Of The Summer Wine .So sad when he passed away from Covid .
I hadn’t seen this before , loved it , these two are great
They did Pantomime and about four/five years ago my mum went. Both Bobby and Tommy went into the Pub near the Theatre and my mum and stepfather went in too. My mum had her photo taken with Bobby and she was telling him of past pantos and she made him laugh instead. Classic act.
You should've seen them in the seventies. These guys still toured even a few years ago, all over the country at seaside resorts every summer, and Bobby Ball was also in a popular sitcom on the BBC called Not Going Out, where he played the main character p!ayed by comdien Lee Mack, asd his toublesome father.😊
Morcambe and Wise, 2 Ronnies, Cannon and Ball, Little and Large: got it all from Abbott and Costello
Cannon & Ball was the Morecambe & Wise of the North. they started off in the workingmen's clubs (check out "the Wheel Tappers and Shunters Club" on YT). they hit the big time in the late 70's with their own TV show at prime time on a Saturday night. they even had their own comic strip in the Look-In teens magazine.
I was lucky to see them live in the early 80's and my parents bought me Bobby Ball red braces, with "Rock On Tommy" printed on them.
Morecambe & Wise we’re from the North?
@@cloverite reading isn't your strongpoint is it.
Cannon & ball the ballad of molly malone is hilarious
Watch Bobby when he was young , - he was like a cheeky naughty little boy. 😋
Very popular in the early 80's. The, 'double act', (straight man and comic), is a well-established music hall act. When done well it's excellent comedy.
forgot to say, they also made a comedy film in the 80's, "The Boys In Blue" where they play two policemen on some remote fishing village area, well worth watching. they also made a record in the early 90's called the boys in blue for the local football/soccer team, Oldham athletic, who were doing pretty well at the time, that didnt last :/
Their snooker sketch with Steve Davis is good
I had the pleasure of watching these 2 do pantomime at the Darlington civic theatre. Their own twist added to the tale with plenty of adult humour yet kids were none the wiser, amazing. 2 smashing fellas.
R.I.P Bobby Ball gone way too soon but provided many years of laughter
I adored them when I was a kid, was very lucky to see them in a pantomime in the 80s. Such a shame Bobby died, RIP.
Nearly a year since we lost Bobby (rock on tommy) Ball. These guys were just legends of their time. Have you seen Freddy Starr do his "Vincent" sketch? I think he did it on the Des O'Connor show.
They appealed to children and were good in panto, but I barely raised a smile with this one.
Your reaction was... generous.
This contains elements of the Boom Ooh Yat-ta-ta song by Morecambe and Wise and the "too loud man" segment of the Banana Boat Song otherwise known as DAYOOOH
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello "Who's on first"
UK. I seen these guy's live in the 80s in Felixstowe Suffolk! 🤣🤣🤣
Their 'Molly Malone' sketch is one of the funniest things ever. They had their own.primetime tv show in the 70s and 80s and were stalwarts in pantomime. Their interaction with the audience was legendary. They worked at a venue I worked at years ago and were lovely and down to earth. Their act was honed over years working the circuit of the workingmens clubs.
I was 8 and asked Santa for some red braces and went around pulling them shouting rock on tommy . 32 year ago wow 😮
That wee guy would drive you crazy
Bobby Ball (the trumpet payer in this sketch) died in Oct 2020, the were big stars in the 80's
id highly recommended the aeroplane sketch or the sketch in the bar so funny
R. I. P Bobby Ball
That takes me back some years now
When I was 7ish my parents took to see them live on stage at Blackpool Tower Theatre!! That was 34 yrs ago!!
Seen these 2 in Blackpool back in the 80s. They were on with the Four Tops.
Much in the same vein, you should take a look at the Morecambe and Wise 'Boom oo ya-ta-ta-ta' routine which is hilarious.
Every week in the 80's I used to watch their TV show, I loved them. Sadly Bobby Ball died last year, he was a great comedian and actor.
Look for Cannon and Ball, with Steve Davis playing snooker.
Ooh Tommy, I loved that when I was a kid. Nice one eb, thanks for doing this reaction bab, love ya eb. ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Random, Cannon & Ball are from my hometown, Oldham, near Manchester, as are quite a few other celebs. they met whilst working in a factory in the 60's, i think they were welders. i saw them live once when i was a kid, see if you can find some of their older stuff from their 1980's tv series, theres a sketch they do based on the movie casablanca, really funny.
RIP Bobby ball. He was really good also in the sitcom not going out...
Bobby always wore that suit with the red braces and when he said rock on Tommy he would pull on his braces.whrn Tommy lost his patience with him he'd pull bobby's brace and let them snap back.bobby would say ooo you got me skin🤣
It's really sad that bobby's passed seeing Tommy speak after losing his friend breaks your heart 😢
There's a documentary about them.
As you can see Tommy's the straight man and Bobby was the comedy I think they'd do a song at the end of their show like morcombe and wise.wise was the straight guy morcombe was the comedy you should check them out if you haven't already.
Please do some early cannon and ball.i remember a sketch were they had to shoots that plates would come down and they had to catch them and put them on the table it was hilarious 🤣
I remember seeing these live when I was a kid, they were really nice people.
Hello EBR you gotta see Cannon & Ball's Casablanca sketch from the 80's ...... i highly recommend this to you.
Bro I like their first joke : “Well I can play the Trumpet Voluntary” (which is a piece of music by Jeremiah Clarke) …. “What, you mean you don’t get paid??” Boom boom! 😂😅
The variety style of theses shows comes from WWII, when there so few entertainers, they had to be one man shows.
In 1978 I had my stag night at a cannon and Ball concert
If you can get their tv stuff its absolutel gold. Rip bobby ball. "rock on tommy"
By this stage of their career, they absolutely hated and loathed each other. You can tell.
I'm lile them from Grtr M/c area _ Never Liked Them
No that was the 80’s they couldn’t stand each other, both had their own entourage then Bobby found God, then Tommy did. This is filmed in the 2000’s.
Hi Alan
