    Great result with the "new" plataform.
    Congratulations to the XOIO team.

    Please, don't stop guys! Keep on working on this and improving. The awesomeness of this approach related to archviz is something that i hope will slowly have a place in my workflow also.

      it's really something to stick on for sure! workflow still is a bit clunky, but that will change over time i am sure :D

      I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the time, compared to an HQ max-vray animation. :) i know quality is not the same, but you save time rendering frames, i guess. And obviously with ue you have a quicker feedback on what's happening in your scene. Correct me if I'm wrong.

      Mirko Venturi you nail it absoltely: "rendering" - or exporting the animation to an image sequence is like 5 minutes total - the only time consuming part is the GI-baking which can take some time with a somewhat heavy scene and very dense GI resolution. traditional animation with max+vray of course is higher quality but even here you would do some trade-off compared to still imagery to get a reasonable rendertime per frame. Of course there's still room for improvement in the whole workflow but it feels like a very futuristic and correct way to work! :D

    This scene is freely available since today on the Marketplace, awesome!!!
    Downloading right now, will feedback for sure

      I can't seem to launch it, as the Vault let me only "add to project" instead of the usual "create project".
      I've searched for answers here and there, still waiting, but i'm surprise i couldn't find discussions about your post over the web, just the download in UE4 launcher?
      Please help the noob ^^

      Benjamin Swanson Found the solution, i'm amazed i had no more news.
      Launcher/New Empty Project (no content)
      UE4/save as "Berlin flat", close UE4
      Close Launcher, open again
      Add project to "Berlin Flat" you just created.
      In UE4 save.

      Benjamin Swanson David Boura hi guys, sorry for answering late :) scene has been updated - you can now simply create a project from it! have fun! L

    Beautiful! It may not be Vray quality but it's good enough I think.
    I think I would have liked to see a little blue cast from the sky instead of the all white lighting though it has a really nice warm look now.

    Amazing work! I've read your tutorial about this project and if it possible could you explain the lighting with planes and spotlights? What kind of material did you apply on the outside planes for indirect lighting and what are your settings for the spotlights? Also did you use pointlights for lighten up the scene or the sun and the spotlights just enough light for the darker areas too? Thank you very much!

    Nice work with the cross fade transition effect, may I ask how did you do it in matinee?

      well.. the final cut and blending is done in premiere. did not find a way to crossfade in matinee yet :D

    Awesome, how long does it take to UE4 to render the lightmap for that?

    • @lasserode6742
      @lasserode6742 10 лет назад

      unfortunatley thats the hardest part. tooks one or two hours; the memory is sometimes used up completely if going more dense. have "only" 32 gb in my machine, lol

    • @HeliosDoubleSix
      @HeliosDoubleSix 10 лет назад

      Lasse Rode Ouch, strange with ram issue, thankfully Enlighten / Unity are really light on ram use it just each gigs of disk space for the cache, still takes long time to render tho naturally ( I rendered a really nice cube for 8 hours recently :-D ). Keep up the good work :-)

    Is this demo available for download? I think the lighting in this is fantastic and i have just reached the stage in my project where I am about to start setting up my lights. I would love to see how you set yours up. great work :)

    have u guys ever considered using low poly and normal mapping?

  • @maxdanieldaiber
    @maxdanieldaiber 10 лет назад

    How do you get all the mapping done for the lightmaps? I've been strugling with that. Any advice were to look for info? (working on 3ds)

    • @lasserode6742
      @lasserode6742 10 лет назад

      simple flatten mappgin in UVW unwrap does the job in most cases - sometimes you would have to connect some edges if it looks dodgy in UE

    • @maxdanieldaiber
      @maxdanieldaiber 10 лет назад

      I was doing that till I got sone weird results. Maybe i had to stitch some vertices or add padding, but is good to see you can get beautiful work just with simple flatten.
      Thanks.

    The rendering of light in UE4 is clearly not up to par yet. Why are there so many people using blown-out white light blazing through windows? Is this supposed to be a solution to not dealing with outside scenery? Furthermore, the cardboard cutout dude looking out the window does nothing but detract from a scene already struggling to be realistic in the first place. In my opinion, these low-poly figures should only be used sparingly in still imagery, or actually moving in real-time animation, otherwise they just look like creepy, stuffed corpses. And, if you are going to use figures at all, make sure they fit the scene. A dude in baggy jeans, pulled out shirt, and hands in his pockets doesn't accord with an elegant white décor.

      dude, chill. you are commenting on an ani i made like 6 years ago. it was a thing back then.
      why so mad about the guy (which was early 3d scan "success")
      short: i made that animation back then for "fun" and it was good for that time. don't be sad you don't like
      *and guess what: the blazin light WAS actually a way not to deal with the exterior. i was glad i could render the GI in that - for those days heavy - scene AT ALL.
      Also the only way to light up scenes with the technical precedents back then was to place big white "bounce cards" in the windows to get light inside. no skylight, no portals, no sun and sky system was available in the stoneage. and also guess what: we were so happy we could do things "real time" in almost a quality we would wait all night long in an offline render (speaking still image here, not 25 p sec)
      of course things look different today with all the raytracing magic. peace :-*
