Man that sounds familiar. I keep reminding myself of someone one of my favorite teachers in music school said.... The hardest part of practice is starting.

Really great to listen/hear you speak about these pesky things that irritate us musicians. Especially when you say "It's never done"! So very true. I suppose nothing worth pursuing is worth doing badly! Thanks for your honesty, & caring enough to talk like a real person as much as a professional who struggles with the same stuff we lesser players struggle with! Best wishes. Pb

I love how raw and candid this video is. Even in the video Bob doesn’t seem to want to enter the studio and ends up filming in the entry way. Maybe intentional, maybe subconscious. Either way your personality shines through, Bob! Good luck on your upcoming endeavors!

Start at 7:00 a.m. and make everyday band camp. Practice indoors, outside, in the park, woods, have some fun, break it up.

yes yes yes. Thank you very mulch! Never enough time to practice stuff we have in our head or written down. My erstwhile sax teacher used to leave the sax out of the case to avoid the inertia that comes with taking it out of the case!

I'm not a Sax player or a big fan of Jazz, but this is a fundamental truth to life.

My kids started in person school for the first time since COVID hit two years ago. It has completely destroyed my practice consistency. I have been doing EVERYTHING but practice. My double bass is sitting in the middle of the room and I've been walking around it all day. Once I hit save on this comment I'll get going. Thanks Bob!

Thanks for being so honest (well, you always are, but still). Now I feel much better about not having practised today ;)

I appreciate the honesty here Bob! I deal with the same procrastination as well and I know I need WAY more hours of practice than you do!
