    I love your videos, Kev. And I especially love that you travel through Algonquin so much. I´m from Germany but because of your videos I did a 3-day solo last fall, my first canoe trip ever. It was nearly the same route as you did here. Thanks for bringing me back before I will come again next summer and fall. In my last comment I was wondering if it might be due to lack of cooking/fishing content that you viewers are not way higher as the quality is absolut on the top in all your vids. And now you brought the hot dogs on this trip, that really made me smile :) I´m looking very much forward to all your future vids.

      Oh wow! It's quite incredible for me to hear that my videos helped inspire you to come to Algonquin Park for your first solo canoe trip! I'm sure that you will have many more memorable journeys in the years to come. Thank you for commenting Kerstin :)

    As you know, I have been a big fan of your content for a couple of years now and it keeps getting better and better.
    You truly captured the essence of a canoe trip in Algonquin Park. The footage from your morning on Sunbeam Lake in particular is simply stunning and some of the best footage I have ever seen of Algonquin Park.
    I can only hope that the RUclips algorithms finally realize how good your channel is so many more people are exposed to it. I believe that this video may be the one that finally propels your channel to the highest levels of success.
    I will enjoy this video many times over the winter to keep me motivated for my ice out trip in the spring. Keep up the great work.

    I have been to Algonquin four times. The last trip was quite a few years ago. I spend most of my time here in New York State. Would love to head back up some day. Your views and sights on the water bring back many memories . Looking at your maps I see many of the lakes we paddled on. I remember the many portages and wonderful evenings around the fire. I also remember the many bear encounters we had. First time up was in 1974 with my high school camping club. I fell in love with the water. Last trip ( over twenty years ago ) we combined white water rafting on the Ottawa River ( near Beachburg ?) with a week of paddling Algonquin Park. One of the best trips of my life. I enjoyed your video and the relaxed pace and fine editing. And yes I have hit the subscribe button. Thanks for the visual memories. By the way I did lose a Timex wrist watch ( with a raw hide tassled watch band....it was the 70's after all ) somewhere up there. It may still be ticking.

We had very similar snowy weather to start and a substantial tail wind on day two paddling north on burnt island. We were there Nov 2-7 2023. We actually camped on the same site on Joe Lake but that was our final camp site. Very cool to watch your experience of a similar route at possibly the same time we were out there! On those wet days I would get that damp fire going first thing by the time you want it it will be ready. Not to be nit picky but I cringe a little when you run the stem of that boat onto the gravel beach. I've done worse to the bottom of my Swift Prospector but I baby the stems. Good to see canoeing in November. I put my boat up in the first of November and we still have open water with this warmer winter, we just got ice up on the small ponds and its January!

    Really enjoyed this video... I purchased a Swift Dragonfly back in September 2023 and absolutely love it. However I've been eyeing the Prospector 14 for a while now and was wondering your thoughts?

    • @kevinthewild1
      @kevinthewild1  Год назад +1

      I really enjoy the Prospector 14 as a lightweight solo canoe. I have a lot of experience in a Keewaydin 15 solo canoe, which I also love. The prospector is more stable and maneuverable, at a cost of speed and efficiency. It works well for me and I'm very happy with it so far.

      @@kevinthewild1 I have a Northstar Northwind Solo which is pretty similar to your Kee 15. I also have a Hemlock Canoe Works Eaglet which is 15' 7" and super stable, glides amazingly and can carry a ton of gear. Although it falls in the "Light Weight" category #38 it would hands down be thee best boat on the market IMO at 30#'s, however I absolutely love the boat. The P14 is a sweet looking ride. Here is a quick video: ruclips.net/video/g_zxP1x6Ois/видео.htmlsi=b74T5_U4qY9AaEPs And lastly love the channel and all your doing, cheers!

      The dates of this trip were Nov 2 - 5, 2023. The last night was definitely the coldest and temps dipped well below freezing. You can look up the historical weather data for those dates if you are curious. It takes many consecutive days / nights of below freezing temps for the lakes to start freezing over.

    Thank you for sharing your adventures. Am I spotting a Level 6 Helium Yoke Portage Pad? If it is how do you like it and if not who is the mfg.? I am over the big foam blocks that so many of the canoe mfgs are using. They slip around too much on the shoulders. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

    Hello Kev
    Just recently discovered your Channel and loving it! My husband and I enjoy how serene your videos are. We are wondering what type of knife you have in this video? Also do you list any of your gear that helps you keep so warm during these cold nights?

    • @kevinthewild1
      @kevinthewild1  11 месяцев назад +1

      Glad you both are enjoying 😊. My knife is the classic Ka-bar Single Mark knife. It was used the the US military for decades. I haven’t made a list of all my gear, but on this trip I did have an extremely warm down sleeping bag from MEC. I think MEC (REI) for Americans has a lot of good value gear. A warm sleeping pad is also important in the colder months. I combine my foam pad with an inflatable one. Cheers!

    Hi Kev, I’m enjoying your videos. Question. I will be going to Algonquin this spring for a 3 day canoe trip. Do you have any suggestions of where to go for a beginner?

    • @kevinthewild1
      @kevinthewild1  Год назад

      Hi James. There are many beginner friendly routes in Algonquin. Spring requires extra caution however due to the frigid water temperatures. Aside from the popular Canoe lake and Smoke lake access points, you could try access point #3 into Ralph Bice lake and Little Trout lake, or access point #2 (Tim lake) to Rosemary lake. If you will be renting a canoe, there are outfitters that will deliver your canoe to any of those access points. Whatever route you choose, I hope you have a wonderful trip!

    Kev. I'm a new watcher. Your channel came up in my feed tonight. You may discuss your equipment in another post but can you tell me please what model canoe you have? Swift prospector 14'? I've just switched to a double bladed paddle and am trying to decide whether to switch up canoes to one with a more narrow beam. I have the Swift 15' Prospector and need a fairly long paddle to paddle it comfortably. It works well however..
