Hello ! I just stumbled upon your channel . This is a nice content . As a result i share itbin mybplaylist . Take care abd see you soon again . Greetings from France . ☀️☀️
I love your videos, Kev. And I especially love that you travel through Algonquin so much. I´m from Germany but because of your videos I did a 3-day solo last fall, my first canoe trip ever. It was nearly the same route as you did here. Thanks for bringing me back before I will come again next summer and fall. In my last comment I was wondering if it might be due to lack of cooking/fishing content that you viewers are not way higher as the quality is absolut on the top in all your vids. And now you brought the hot dogs on this trip, that really made me smile :) I´m looking very much forward to all your future vids.
Oh wow! It's quite incredible for me to hear that my videos helped inspire you to come to Algonquin Park for your first solo canoe trip! I'm sure that you will have many more memorable journeys in the years to come. Thank you for commenting Kerstin :)
As you know, I have been a big fan of your content for a couple of years now and it keeps getting better and better. You truly captured the essence of a canoe trip in Algonquin Park. The footage from your morning on Sunbeam Lake in particular is simply stunning and some of the best footage I have ever seen of Algonquin Park. I can only hope that the RUclips algorithms finally realize how good your channel is so many more people are exposed to it. I believe that this video may be the one that finally propels your channel to the highest levels of success. I will enjoy this video many times over the winter to keep me motivated for my ice out trip in the spring. Keep up the great work.
Super underrated compared to all these other guys, hope you blow up soon man! the editing and filming quality is next level, all the best in the new year keep up the great work!
Just discovered your Channel today. You do a great job with your videography, scene selection, narration and very good audio. Well done Kev. And in Algonquin - a beautiful Provincial Park that we love exploring too.
Aaah buddy so beautiful, what lovely scenes with the snow. I can't watch, makes me jealous!!! Algonquin is just magical, no matter what. Moving to Miami soon and will be closer to Canada so maybe we'll bump into each other on the water some day! Take it east bud PS. Or west, or north, or south... or EASY 🙂
I had hoped to do this loop in the Fall, but couldn't get up there, so it was great to live it through your POV! Really dig your filming, the music and everything. My ideal Sunday morning watching this with a good cup of coffee. Cheers to more adventures in '24!
Hey Kev. I plan a longer trip with my son (5 years) to north europe camp, canoe and wilderness this fall. Looking around i found your channel . Dont know what to say. just thank you for your content, how you share it, show it to us. Thats how i immagine it, thats the way to enjoy wilderness and nature ... I find myself speechless when I look at your content and that is exactly how I often find myself in the midst of nature. Sorry for the longer comment. Just want to say. Thank you. Greetings from Italy
Thank you so much 🙏. I am very glad you enjoyed it. I have spent a summer living in your beautiful country (Firenze) and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Enjoy your trip with your son. It will create beautiful memories for you both.
wonderful video, great editing and more importantly you don,t mind showing us mishaps along the way (getting fire started when damp, forgetting pelican etc.).thanks for a nice winter outing.take care from oklahoma.
Thank you, this video brings back a lot of memories for me. And having had a career of graphic art for over 45 years, your photography is wonderful, great job. A lot of backtracking I presume hehehe Thanks again for the view of the past.
Thank you Neil. Receiving such positive feedback from someone with your decades of experience is encouraging. I'm glad my video was able to bring back fond memories.
Hi Kev! Incredible video!! My daughter and I did a lot of camping at Two Rivers and Pog…. Just did canoe day trips. Seeing your videos I wish I would have been more adventurous! Algonquin is so beautiful!! I guess the restaurant at Canoe Lake was closed… we always had a nice meal there! Looking forward to more videos!!
Thank you Janet! It sounds like you have some wonderful memories with your daughter in Algonquin. Yes I think the restaurant at canoe lake was closed when I did this trip. I've been extremely busy but I have quite a few videos coming from this year. Take care 🙂
A new video... the perfect Sunday morning treat. The morning on Day 3, after that stormy night, was something very special... pure magic. Thank you for sharing your adventure Kev :)
I can't believe you had that whole stretch to yourself. I've always avoided that part of the park with access right off Rt 60 because of the crowds. I'll just have to go in November. Thanks for letting me share the awesome scenery.
Your channel is excellent. I wish I had the time and focus to do what you do. Just getting to old though. Thanks for your work, it really is motivating. JP
Just found your channel a few days ago and am sure glad I did. Sure enjoy watching your journey. PS ...... lake walleye on a bun can sure be a nice treat
What a treat to find this in my feed this morning, it was just the thing I needed on a cold January day. Can't wait to get out there this spring! Keep up the great work bro, your content is amazing! Definitely one of the best channels for sure! -Cheers
You captured some great shots on the last evening/early morning with the frost. What an epic scene that you can't find anywhere else. Bravo on a great film and thanks for bringing us along.
Incredible video. I did the Sunbeam loop in the reverse direction in the summer as my first canoe camping trip. A lot of the sights brought me back. I can't wait to get back on the water next summer. I found your channel a few weeks ago and I've been enjoying your videos! Fantastic presentation!
Another good one. After a challenging day, it’s soothing to watch your video. Cinematic views, very well done. Just watching the still waters and silence is making me unwind snd relax. Thank you Kevin! More power to the coming year!
I have been to Algonquin four times. The last trip was quite a few years ago. I spend most of my time here in New York State. Would love to head back up some day. Your views and sights on the water bring back many memories . Looking at your maps I see many of the lakes we paddled on. I remember the many portages and wonderful evenings around the fire. I also remember the many bear encounters we had. First time up was in 1974 with my high school camping club. I fell in love with the water. Last trip ( over twenty years ago ) we combined white water rafting on the Ottawa River ( near Beachburg ?) with a week of paddling Algonquin Park. One of the best trips of my life. I enjoyed your video and the relaxed pace and fine editing. And yes I have hit the subscribe button. Thanks for the visual memories. By the way I did lose a Timex wrist watch ( with a raw hide tassled watch band....it was the 70's after all ) somewhere up there. It may still be ticking.
Thank you for sharing Ken. Sounds like you had some great adventures in Algonquin Park. I'm glad my video helped bring back some of those good memories. Hope you get to return again soon! Cheers
Outstanding trip! RUclips suggested your channel this week, and I can see we share a similar style! Good stuff man - hope 2024 brings you lots of cool adventures out there. Cheers.
You were there around the same time as us! We did the Big Trout Loop last November. I honestly wonder if that was our car that you saw in the parking lot lol. We had very similar snowy weather to start and a substantial tail wind on day two paddling north on burnt island. We were there Nov 2-7 2023. We actually camped on the same site on Joe Lake but that was our final camp site. Very cool to watch your experience of a similar route at possibly the same time we were out there! We had to bust through ice on marshy area on white trout on day 4. It was so cold! Thanks for the relaxing video. Very enjoyable to watch 😊
Well why am I’m not surprised that it was you Steph 😄. I think I remember it being a white car... The last night of my trip was bone chilling, so that must have been the day you encountered ice. I’ll check out your video!
@ omg that was definitely us! I drive a white Subaru hahaha. It would have been cool to cross paths but finding out this way is really funny too 😂 Again, great video! Really enjoyed it!
Just found you and I have to say I really am glad of it. This was awesome. I loved the scenery . It was a beautiful video. Looking forward to watching all of them. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Thanks Ed! Yes we are certainly lucky up here when it comes to freshwater. But Australia has some incredible wilderness that I would like to explore someday. Cheers!
Kev, were those cheese curds? We don't have those here on Long Island. Looked delish. Great trip! You live in such a majestic area. So beautiful. Add a little mustard to that ketchup. 😊
Congrats! And yes I've had a few requests for a gear vid so I might get around to making one. My gear load out changes quite a bit, and that will be the case for next season as well. It's all just a matter of preference. If you want to single carry try to pack light like a backpacker. I will be doing some double carry portage trips next year with some additional heavier gear.
Beautiful scenes. I've been on the Joe Lakes with a problem bear. It was not fun, but that was 25 years ago. That hurricane must have been epic, to lift those big hardwoods out of the ground. Love your work.
Problem bears are a reoccurring problem on lakes like Joe which are relatively easy to access. I’m sure it wasn’t a fun experience for you. I’ve thankfully yet to encounter one. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers!
Seems as though each day brought its own variety of weather (although cold each day) but if there's one thing that fall weather is, is unpredictable. Overall, though, a perfect trip to end the year. BTW, it is odd that when I click on the link to your knife, Amazon lists it under "Bathroom Towel Bars" where apparently it is the #395 most popular item in that category. 🤣
Awesome video, homeslice! Fellow RUclipsr from the PNW. Such a beautiful location... That lake was worth the work to portage your canoe. I'm your latest sub. Happy new year! @xplrnw
Happy New Year Kevin and many more adventures. Love the video and solitude end of season canoe camping brings . Hope to cross paths again , wishing you the best .
I would of went with KFC after the trip. Just sayin , lol. Some great shots as aways Kev. Keep up the good work and you'll be at 2k in no time! No fishing rod?
You're right, I could have done a lot better than Wendy's lol. This trip was in November so trout was no longer in season. I'll be ready for the spring though!
On those wet days I would get that damp fire going first thing by the time you want it it will be ready. Not to be nit picky but I cringe a little when you run the stem of that boat onto the gravel beach. I've done worse to the bottom of my Swift Prospector but I baby the stems. Good to see canoeing in November. I put my boat up in the first of November and we still have open water with this warmer winter, we just got ice up on the small ponds and its January!
Really enjoyed this video... I purchased a Swift Dragonfly back in September 2023 and absolutely love it. However I've been eyeing the Prospector 14 for a while now and was wondering your thoughts?
I really enjoy the Prospector 14 as a lightweight solo canoe. I have a lot of experience in a Keewaydin 15 solo canoe, which I also love. The prospector is more stable and maneuverable, at a cost of speed and efficiency. It works well for me and I'm very happy with it so far.
@@kevinthewild1 I have a Northstar Northwind Solo which is pretty similar to your Kee 15. I also have a Hemlock Canoe Works Eaglet which is 15' 7" and super stable, glides amazingly and can carry a ton of gear. Although it falls in the "Light Weight" category #38 it would hands down be thee best boat on the market IMO at 30#'s, however I absolutely love the boat. The P14 is a sweet looking ride. Here is a quick video: ruclips.net/video/g_zxP1x6Ois/видео.htmlsi=b74T5_U4qY9AaEPs And lastly love the channel and all your doing, cheers!
Beautiful video, absolutely stunning. But if it's that cold, why is there no snow or ice to be seen? Seems odd to me, I've always encountered some form of at least frost.
The dates of this trip were Nov 2 - 5, 2023. The last night was definitely the coldest and temps dipped well below freezing. You can look up the historical weather data for those dates if you are curious. It takes many consecutive days / nights of below freezing temps for the lakes to start freezing over.
Thank you for sharing your adventures. Am I spotting a Level 6 Helium Yoke Portage Pad? If it is how do you like it and if not who is the mfg.? I am over the big foam blocks that so many of the canoe mfgs are using. They slip around too much on the shoulders. Thanks in advance for your opinion.
Hello Kev Just recently discovered your Channel and loving it! My husband and I enjoy how serene your videos are. We are wondering what type of knife you have in this video? Also do you list any of your gear that helps you keep so warm during these cold nights?
Glad you both are enjoying 😊. My knife is the classic Ka-bar Single Mark knife. It was used the the US military for decades. I haven’t made a list of all my gear, but on this trip I did have an extremely warm down sleeping bag from MEC. I think MEC (REI) for Americans has a lot of good value gear. A warm sleeping pad is also important in the colder months. I combine my foam pad with an inflatable one. Cheers!
Hi Kev, I’m enjoying your videos. Question. I will be going to Algonquin this spring for a 3 day canoe trip. Do you have any suggestions of where to go for a beginner?
Hi James. There are many beginner friendly routes in Algonquin. Spring requires extra caution however due to the frigid water temperatures. Aside from the popular Canoe lake and Smoke lake access points, you could try access point #3 into Ralph Bice lake and Little Trout lake, or access point #2 (Tim lake) to Rosemary lake. If you will be renting a canoe, there are outfitters that will deliver your canoe to any of those access points. Whatever route you choose, I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Kev. I'm a new watcher. Your channel came up in my feed tonight. You may discuss your equipment in another post but can you tell me please what model canoe you have? Swift prospector 14'? I've just switched to a double bladed paddle and am trying to decide whether to switch up canoes to one with a more narrow beam. I have the Swift 15' Prospector and need a fairly long paddle to paddle it comfortably. It works well however.. Great video. Thanks.
Online reservations close after October 31st, but the park remains open for backcountry canoe sites into November (depending on the conditions). I registered at the West gate office.
What changes in November is that you can no longer make online reservations backcountry sites. You have to book your sites / route in-person. @@maydanlex
@@kevinthewild1 No offense intended, but there is a character on an episode of Seinfeld that could be your older brother (the one with the Camo) who works for Elaine. I have a pic but can't post in on here. Happy paddling in '24.

Amazing video! What camera do you use? That shot at 28:18 on the lake is beautiful and is so clear.
Thanks John. My main camera is a Sony A7C.
Beautiful : )
Day 3 was a rebirth in the weather.
Couldn’t tell is that October?
Thank you! Yes day three was incredible. I just added some info to this description. This trip was in November.
I probably should go a bit easier on her. I need a T-Formex canoe that I can abuse lol
@mrgjoe so many options! The Eaglet is a beautiful boat and #38 is still very light 👍
@@kevinthewild1 thank you and yes you are correct on it being light. Sometimes I take for granted how fortunate I am to have these boats.
awesome music choice very "The Last Of Us"
Thanks!
Yes that's the Helium yoke pad. No complaints. Works great 👍
Hello Kev
Just recently discovered your Channel and loving it!
Cheers!
@@kevinthewild1 thank you for the info.
Thanks.
You are correct. It’s a Swift Prospector 14’. Works great with a double blade 👍
@@kevinthewild1 Thanks. I've enjoyed the switch.
Loved the video! I'm curious, what mic are you using?
Glad you enjoyed! The mic is a Sony ECM-M1
Great videos. What canoe are you using?
Its a Swift Prospector 14' in Kevlar Fusion
I thought so. I have the same one in green. Great boat.
It is!@@kensherlock662
hi Kevin
Surprised you did not do any fishing!
It was November so the trout fishing season was closed
Guessing that's a rental canoe? Is it a Prospector 14?
It's my canoe. Yes its a Swift Prospector 14'.
Great video. What are you using to shoot the footage? Gopro and/or DSLR?
Thanks Mark. I was using a mirrorless camera and an iPhone.
how do you go to the park for many days when it's supposedly closed? I thought we only had access in winter for hiking
Online reservations close after October 31st, but the park remains open for backcountry canoe sites into November (depending on the conditions). I registered at the West gate office.
How'd you book a permit for canoe back country in November?
You have to go to the permit office in-person. I believe some are closed but I went to the west gate office.
When were you there?
November 2 - 5, 2023
@@kevinthewild1 I didn’t realize you could go in November
What changes in November is that you can no longer make online reservations backcountry sites. You have to book your sites / route in-person. @@maydanlex
No moose sightings two videos in a row?? What?!?! haha
Maybe I've gone from lucky to cursed 😂
Do you have a good sense of humor?😁
I think so 😄
@@kevinthewild1 No offense intended, but there is a character on an episode of Seinfeld that could be your older brother (the one with the Camo) who works for Elaine. I have a pic but can't post in on here. Happy paddling in '24.
I remember that episode. I do like that old-school US army camo 😂
Thank you for not fishing .
