Ok. I'm officially stealing that line. "If rhythm was a person, it would be Michael Jackson". So damn true!!!
SAME!!!💀
Michael Jackson the first singer to make a diss song to a chick claiming to be his Baby Mama
She WAS his baby mama. Did you listen to the words? he denies it, but the baby's eyes ARE like his.
@@patriciadowning4036 i hope you kidding. He was getting letters from a woman claiming his was the father of her child
@@Realofficialdee he actually was the father but kept denying. He does have an illegitimate son, check it out and find it for yourself
Brandon Howard... search him up and match his features with mj
@@mishrajee7321 I thought it was that Omar dude lol
Michael Jackson. The single best performer in the history of music.
Fred Astaire, the world famous dancer, said how much HE admired Michael Jackson, the highest praise there could be.
They were both perfectionists who worked incredibly hard at their craft, and they both respected each other a lot. The moonwalk and a lot of the bits from Smooth Criminal were inspired by Fred Astaire sequences. And Fred Astaire in turn had a great deal of respect for the Nicholas brothers. It all comes around.

Everyone knows MJ for his dancing, but to me, one of the things that impresses me the most about him is that he always sounded just as good if not better live than he did in a recording booth. Not many pop artists throughout the ages can say that they’re the same way. Sure there are exceptions, but within the pop genre, MJ was undoubtedly one of the best.
However MJ didn't sing live on this
OMG!!YES!! "If rhythm was a person, it would be Michael Jackson" So very true.
I am a white 45 yr old country girl .. when Michael Jackson did this thriller album everyone was jamming to him !!! I loved him so much !!!! My name is Randi Jean so I always sang Randi Jean instead of Billie Jean!! Lol 😂 he changed music and music videos forever !! You need to react to Thriller video !!it didn’t matter who you were or the color of your skin..everyone loved him !!
Stop it! You're gonna make me start crying again.
I'm a 49-year white gal and I grew up on his music as well. I remember watching this on tv and being blown away by his dancing.
The white glove was a stylistic choice for his medical condition, Vitiligo, which lightens the pigmentation of the skin turning it White. This is why, in later years, Michael looked a lot whiter than he is here. Luckily, the gloves became and iconic symbol for Michael, but originally, it was used to hide the white blotches that started appearing on his hands.
Not really.
@@Realofficialdee Which statement?
@@TheBlackQueen the glove. He talks about it, the glove worn in the Motown 25 was from some dude i forgot, but it was a golf glove & Mike loved the way it sparkled. He asked the guy could he wear it, I’ll find the video for it. But however, later down the line, it become fashion symbol for mike
@@Realofficialdee That may be the original inspiration for the glove, but the reason he wore it on Motown 25 was because of his Vitiligo.
Ask Uncle Ruckus!
There's no question;
Michael Jackson IS The King of Pop!
My biggest worry is a generation nowadays that will not know who this legend was. What he stood for, and what he sacrificed and died for. :(
Yeah i feel bad...
Making a 20something boy in 2021 fangirl over him...and that is why he was the KING.
To me the 80's was the greatest generation ever, it was all about believing to achieve feeling!
I remember being glued to the TV waiting for his performance that night. Dude, I’m old
Top name Lynette! 😉😁
@@lynettetaggart59 great name!
He sang and danced like magic.
This was so epic, I remember as a young teenager, rushing home to make sure I didn't miss this performance!!! There will only ever be 1 Michael Jackson 💚💜💗💚💜
I BeLIEve ALL OF us MADE sure WE WERE THERE for IT!!!💀👑💋🇺🇸💗💐
Virtually every move done by modern dancers and dance groups, was first created or perfected by Michael Jackson.
Nah, young man...you are exactly right. Michael Jackson is the GOAT of pop music. That's why he's called "The King of Pop".
There will NEVER be another MJ. NEVER!!!!!! Most talented singer and dancer ever. I believe hes still alive. Hoping he reveals himself this year in 2021.
The GREATEST PERFORMER EVER
Michael Jackson is the only person to ever defeat Gravity as a boss. You can't tell me that man was bound to the Earth like the rest of us.
Also MTV did not play black artists but when Michael Jackson came out w his amazing videos then they changed their minds real quick ! He changed music videos forever !!
He’s the GOAT of music in general
THE KING FOREVER n ETERNITY💓!!👑
Goat?
@@mikienowhoosebad1438 yep
Yo, Jojo! Your's is the BEST interpretation of this song I have EVER heard!!! MJ was 'THE KING' of POP!!! Your videos are awesome! Keep them coming!
I was a little girl watching this live and when he did the moonwalk, I couldn't believe what I'd seen. He didn't look human. We couldn't rewind. I just couldn't comprehend what I saw. So amazing! I love Michael.
Dancing on air
Walking like an angel
Flowing with the sound
I’ve been a metal guy for 30 years and as a kid growing up in the 80s, MJ was my biggest musical influence. My step mom was dope. She made me a perfect replica sequence glove. I remember watching the Thriller world premier on MTV and having nightmares for two weeks. I was hooked.
Right there with ya bro.
Ditto that! (:
Me too I was 8
This dude was THE KING IN HIS ERA.UNTOUCHABLE!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Jackson was an absolutely obsessive perfectionist. Much as this may look "free-style" I can virtually guarantee he probably practiced and rehearsed that choreography at least 50 times before he did this show. I've watched a few documentaries on him and some of his other projects like the Moonwalker movie and the Captain Eo multimedia experience and the dude was obsessed with getting everything PERFECT. And not just him. Any back-up dancers he had with him, he put them through the wringer. Can probably blame his father for that because the man was so strict on him and his brothers when they were little, drilling them on their routines over and over and over. I think that's also a large part of why he was so "eccentric" in his later years. Like he was finally able to "release" and just flow for a bit, and try to have something resembling a childhood because he wasn't able to have one growing up. Haters and critics can spout off innuendo and allegations about the things he supposedly did later in life, don't really know that I believe any of it, but even if it was all true none of it can erase the sheer talent and impact of this man.
YASSSSSS MJ!!!! No words for him!! Just sing along!!
I have a hard time believing this was the first time you heard the best MJ tune, but welcome to the party.
I watched this live with my family. We were speechless. A legend was born at that moment. Music and performing were never the same. I will never forget it
The "OFF THE WALL" album helped mold me. I'm a generation X'er. Our music is the most epic and eternal. I see you have dove into "RUSH" another legendary status musical icon like Michael.
No Cap 😎
I was there with the whole word , When we all saw the moonwalk for the very first time. The next day that's all was talked about in scool at work on the streets. Glad I had front row seats in my living room live when it happened😁
Hey guess who plays guitar on the Thriller album. Eddie Van Halen!!!!!
Eddie only played on Beat It
He was a genius we probably never will se something like it again.
Michael Jackson, the king of pop, when I was young, I first saw it on TV in the days of my father's videotape in 1985 when I was 5 years old
The greatest artist of all Time rest in peace michael 🙏🏽❤️😔
This performance was the first time anyone ever seen the moonwalk.
Watched this on TV live when I was a kid!
Last time I went bowling, this song came on.... Yup,i moon walked... I'm a 51 year old white male!!! Lol... great music is great music!!!
This just means now you have to react to the song smooth criminal by MJ LoL 🤣😂🤣
followed by Alien Ant Farm
@@Julianlesk alien ant farm? hell no 😭
Oh I tried to sing it but Bad is better to sing
They don't really care about us 🤎 some of the most meaningful lyrics he wrote but with MJ the possibilities are literally endless
MJ lip synced to this because he wanted to be able to pull off the dance as smooth as he could, and after it was over, he cried because he thought because he didn't hold the toe stand long enough, he had failed.
While going back to the car to go home, a little boy stopped him and asked him " oh my God!!! how can you dance like that?"....it made him happy.
The next day, the world famous singer/dancer Fred Astaire, was an old man, but grew to fame before MJ was born, called MJ and told him he was watching it over and over, told him " you're a hell of a mover!"
It was only then MJ felt proud of this tv performance.
My good friend in our neighborhood and I were both moms, but she and her daughters came to my house to watch the Motown show. We liked all of it, but I remember when this came on the TV and we saw history being made, LIVE, on my TV. Can't begin to tell you how thrilling it was. I had already heard the song "Billy Jean" and had loved it. Well, Mickey Mouse wore white gloves, so I have no idea what symbol it was to Michael.
This was the first time the world had seen the Moon Walk.
He never did it in the rehearsals and kept it a secret till the show.
He also felt like he fucked it up since he never stuck the tip toe stand at the end (he wanted to hold it for few seconds)
How have u not heard MJ b4! 😂 The Man is basically The GOD of POP Music!
‘Hip thrust on rhythm’ yeah that’s how it’s done‼️ I love your descriptive words Jojo‼️‼️
Michael jackson the king of the pop
I clearly remember watching this with my mom. I was around 9-10 yrs old. Time flies!
Even he walks normal forward it looks to me like a moonwalk.
I watched this live the night it aired. It was just as mesmerizing now as it was then. And I think I’ve got it. He walks like he is unaffected by gravity. 😁
Apparently, Michael Jackson received letters from a woman claiming that he's the father of her child, saying they have the same eyes, they met so and so ago blah blah blah. He was being harassed by a woman he didn't know. He didn't pay too much attention to it. He found it all too amusing. And one day, he was being driven in a limousine and he took a pen and paper and wrote the lyrics to this songs. The beat to the song came to him as he was writing the lyrics. He got to his studio and called his associates and put the song together.
Then he wanted to showcase this song at the 25th Motown Anniversary. He wanted to introduce this song and see how it will be received. He rehearsed the dance in his kitchen by himself. This way during the time, he wanted to distinguish himself from the Jacksons. He didn't want to be associated with the Jacksons anymore so, even though he wasn't supposed to have a solo performance, he took time from the Jacksons just to overshadow the Jacksons. He wanted it to be a masterpiece performance that there can be no doubt, he is now a solo artist. Like he wanted He did so perfectly, no one remembered all the other motown performances. People only talked about Michael Jackson. He overshadowed everyone.
The video for Michael Jackson's Thriller is what got me into horror movies, and zombies. The behind the scenes Making of Michael Jackson's Thriller video is what got me into film making. Around this time last year, I was part of making a horror film that was going to include Ola Ray, who was in the Thriller video. Unfortunately, due to Covid, travel was restricted and she wasn't able to participate. Nonetheless, that album was the very first that I owned, and it's on cassette. I still have it. I was going to ask her if she could autograph it. I was really sad when we had to complete filming with her role recast with another actress. Anyway, I love your reaction videos. Please keep up the good work.
@6:50, @JoJo, YES this was the VERY 1st time he did it n it was televised!!! But he WAS NOT happy with that n the toes stand thing!! He was crying afterwards cuz he didn't get it perfectly the way HE WANTED TO!!😮🙌☝🔥💐🌸🌷🌹🌻🌺😉👍💋
BUT HE COMPLETELY STUNNED THE NATION N THE WORLD!!!👑👑👑👑☝🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🔥💀🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I wonder how many people fainted at this concert. Michael is well known for always having hundreds of people faint at his concerts.
React to more live MJ performances🔥🔥🔥🐐
8:23 - This video was live on tv and those watching it live and in the audience there had NEVER seen that move before ever either so THIS was THEIR first time seeing it too!! This video is so special because that awe screaming from the audience was real! Also, Michael actually was upset that he messed up the moonwalk as he wanted to do another spin or two but stopped too soon and went onto the tips of his toes and almost tripped over.
Just over 40 years ago i remember break dancing to Thriller in bank parking lot in Chicago with some duct taped cardboard boxes 🤯
Since Michael had been famous since childhood, he had some sexually charged songs in the 70's, but it was polite innuendo usually, this song however was at that point, his darkest song, so it was a bit surprising, about a possibly real situation involving a woman claiming Michael had gotten her pregnant and he denied having slept with her at all. "Mama always told me, be careful what you do, don't go around breaking young girls hearts" he speaks of temptation, and admits he did meet the woman, but his values show he would not a deny a child if it was really his. It was a genuine shift in his style, and cemented and catapulted him to the King status.
“ Thriller” is one of Michael’s best. “That’s the Way Love Goes” by his sister, Janet.
“Unbreak My Heart” by Toni Braxton
He was a genius and a perfectionists
Blues Soul Music
You should check out his 30th Anniversary Billie Jean performance, it will blow your mind
@JoJo, Hunney, he's NOT the goat....HE'S THE KING N FOREVER WILL BE!!✌💗💋😉
The best thing about this is that MJ never imitate anyone, it's a new thing, a never seen before thing.. He's the king of pop.. there's no denying it! ever! imagine Taylor swift move like him
I have always loved MJ! RIP❤️🏵️
He had the moves the looks the rhythm the melody the swagger the charisma the list goes on and on
Very sharp lyrical analysis for one so young... I'm impressed
Love this song my mom's name is Billie Jean I was a teenager when this song came out and me and my siblings use to aggravate my mom singing this song to her... joyful memories
Rockin' the Tennessee sweater? I'm sold!
It wasn't his best moonwalk. He would go on to execute many, much more amazing performances of it. But it WAS the first, and there is always something magic about seeing anything for the first time.
He was an original.
I needed me some MJ (RIP 2 THE KING) thank you!!!!
Check out the video for Dirty Diana you see a rock version of MJ!! God I miss him! What a talent
I can't believe it's a first time. No way.
I'm pretty sure this was his debut of Billie Jean and the moonwalk
You'r e not listening closely enough. He expresses anguish..the"kid" IS his son. Eyes like his.
michael was sent by gods
Excellent analysis, description, enjoyed it greatly. Loved your rhythm line. Virtually unspeakable how good of a dancer he was. And if he had only left his face alone from this point on. Such a sad story towards the end but so much great music and entertainment produced by this man.
I recommend the live version of “I’ll be there“ by the Jackson 5. Michael’s voice at this point in time was incredibly good.
My sister got me into MJ with this song, I just thought of him as a child singer until I heard this one, I was more into Led zeppelin and Pink Floyd at the time, but Michael Jackson was a fantastic musical artist.
This performance you might notice was lyp synced. The reason for this because he was added to the setlist at the last minute so there was no time to really plan out any real backing music so they went with playback. But that gave MJ the ability to put all his energy into his dancing.
It's a true story. He was accused of being the father. He denied the baby, but I think he did support him.
I was told that this song was based on a real girl that tried to say Michael Jackson was her baby's daddy. He denied it, and the girl committed suicide. Afterwards, he placed a picture of the Girl on his mantle of his fireplace alongside picture of family members. It is said to be silent omission of guilt for lying, and that why he started hang out with kids, cause he lost his girlfriend and unborn child.
4:50 Michael wears the glove to hide the white spot on his hand. He had a skin condition that kept getting worse over the years and it first started to really show on his hand. When all his skin completely turned white, he stopped wearing the glove
EVERYONE ON THE PLANET KNOWS THE WORDS BY HEART
I remember watching this live. And this was the topic for weeks.
I can’t believe you never listened to MJ before
My MOM used to trip out on ME back then....as I studied the moves of ALL THIS n did the dances...she'd say...HOW DO YOU DO THAT?!... ME: DO WHAT?? Mom: YOU dance like THOSE black GIRLS!! YOU definitely didn't GET THAT from ME!, CUZ I COULD NEVER move MY body LIKE THAT!!! Me: hehehe😂😂😂😂💋
He is singing along to a backing track. The music and background voices are being played along with him singing. But those parts are pre taped.
MJ...no one before and no one since...the most innovative dancer since Isadora Duncan...a complete entertainer...an absolute original!
The white glove was to cover vitiligo which started on his left hand(white patches on the skin),he would eventually bleach all his skin to match. ☹️ He was very handsome as a black man.😌
I was gonna say i think this was the first time he did the moon walk
KING!!!!!!!!
مايكل جاكسون ملك البوب ونا صغير شفتة اول مرة على التلفزيون ايام شريط الفيديو عند الوالد عام 1985 كان عمري 5 سنوات
He didn't invent the moonwalk. It was referred to early on as the backslide and appeared as early as the 1940s. Bill Bailey is the dancer. MJ also took whole sequences of moves directly from Cab Calloway from the 1930s.
The king of music mj forever please react man in the mirror live Bucharest please more more more more more mj
