In case no one else pointed this out, on a historical note from the haunted barrel ride, at frame 23:45 pointed out by Jacob as the pirate, this is "Bucket Head" the pirate and any of you who are older than 60 might have known this pirate originated at Freedom Land then relocated to Cedar Point's "Pirate Ride" from 1966 to about 1996. Although I only remember Bucket Head from past Cedar Point days in the 1970's. It was a sad day when the pirate ride was removed. This was the one thing that kept me coming back to cedar point, that and the Earthquake ride and the Wild Cat. Now they have no more dark rides which i love too. Must be this park purchased it after it was removed from the Cedar Point. If memory serves me this was animatronic pirate that sat adorned atop of the facade of the building next to the cannons behind a glass shed in front of the ride entrance. He would sit as he showed you his left hand raise the barrel top where nothing appeared, then raised the right-hand barrel top showing a head of drunk pirate coming up for air and this action would alternate from barrel to barrel. At Cedar Point back in the day the loud cannons sounds use to go off every 15 minutes and big splashes could be seen the water where the front of the ship "Black Raven" sat in front of ride entrance also. Another animatronic pirate could be seen high in the crow's nest as he peers into the telescope. I often wonder what happens to these dark rides once they remove them? By the way the company that made the pirate ride was the Arrow Development Company.

The haunted barrel works is one of the last intact funni-frite dark rides, such a memorable part of my childhood and an incredible piece of amusement park history. It’s been damaged by flooding on several occasions but they’ve done a pretty good job at keeping it alive. So glad you got to ride it!!

Those Ferry boats date back to the late 1800's. Next time you come back to the Island, you should go to Wards Island, walk to Center Island and Hanlan's Point, all 3 islands are connected, there are island homes and a real haunted light house dating back to the early 1800's with an interesting murder mystery (involving the light-house keeper). Also there is an airport, and the site of Toronto's old baseball stadium, where Babe Ruth hit his first home run, the ball landed in Lake Ontario and is still there. Lots of history!!

    former worker here,
it really is a great place to visit during the summer. Lot of food choices, lot of places to just relax in the sun.
The beach is almost always full of people and then there are rides in the park itself. It's a small park due to the fact that it's on an island so there aren't too many rides, but it's perfect for a nice family day out. Also, ferry rides in the harbour make for fantastic photo opportunities. All in all, it's definitely worth checking out whenever you're in the city.

Marriotts Great America parks (today a Six Flags and Cedar Fair property respectively) both have stunning ornate double deck carousels. Also it was cool to see tiny portable double deckers at several east coast pier parks about a decade ago. Kind is a rarity in the US. Places like Jenkinsons, Ocean City, Trimpers etc maybe Coney Island too can’t remember. Not sure of the make but I think they are more common overseas.

'Queens Quay (Key or Kee) West', the Toronto Islands believe it not were created by a massive and severe storm on Lake Ontario in the 19th century. The very small island chain was laid bare by the receding waters thereafter. 'Centreville' is a property of the City of Toronto and it always has been since its creation in 1967, the centennial year of Canada. The 'Haunted Barrel Works' has remained largely the same since it was built in 1970 by the Beasley Family Amusements Company. I rode it for the first time in 1975, and the Buffer-Boats were part of 'Ontario Place' (another abandoned Toronto attraction) just a short-swim south-west of Centreville. The Toronto Islands are a very peaceful place to escape to in the off-tourist season for people who live in the city. Thanks for the great Toronto-Canadiana video.
