Something I always loved about the Independence Pass stage in the Rockies segment, is that there is some truth to what's happening during the race. Independence Pass is often closed for the winter due to ice on the road and the avalanche risk, controlled detonations are also held before the road is reopened to mitigate the chances of an avalanche by clearing away the built up snow, which is what you see taking place with the explosions while racing along the route. It is naturally exaggerated a little to pack in more action for the game, but I think it's fun that it is kind of loosely based a real thing that happens along the road.
I tried today the following route on Google Maps : Aspen - Independence Pass - Commerce City, but it's impossible as Independence Pass is currently closed. I did learn something today.
Wow thanks for the insight on this! I have always been confused as to what the purpose was for blowing up those mountains. I thought the Mob jack is also running from had something to do with that in the game.
The Rockies was really interesting stage and the fact it had many roads to drive one was crazy. And I feel like the both tracks can be connected but due to not enough development time it didn't happen. I can't wait for Stage 9 since it's my favourite stage and maybe you can also see the Loch Ness monster too? :) It is a shame that also Black Box never got proper SL65 sound as they claim they used for the Huayra, which sounds more like SL55 mixed with Porsche 911 GT3 (996) mix.
Most memorable stage, tied with New York Followed by San Fransisco and Chicago tied 2nd (or 3rd, if you count that way) Then Las Vegas, and all the others I've mostly forgotten, only remembering some notable features/shortcuts/paths 😅
Yesterday i'm on nostalgia trip watching NFS The Run videos in RUclips... And then today you upload this video??? That's amazing hahaha, for me NFS The Run is one of the best game ever.

This is great information for the ones who don't know the context behind the mountain blasting
I don't know why I thought the whole stage would be connected
It should be, i always wanted to race the real run, from SF to NY like this
The Crew was the only game that came close to allowing this.

I think no one got closer to that monster than me lol. Video gonna be up on Thursday !
i am always amazed on how much they modeled and how detailed the drivable surface follows the natural elevatio changes
