WOW!! You've made so many videos and almost 100% have continually taught us something to improve our chances of success. The Mandarin Goby is one of the main fish that I have on my bucket list to get in the future (tanks only been active for 7 months). This info will make my next 6 months much more productive Thank you again.

I've always had mandarins from the wild that would eat pellets off a bare bottom tank. Even in high flow SPS tanks, they would ride the flow on the bottom and gobble the pellets up.

A simple thing you said that i think people don't realise how important it is : Phytoplankton is the base of the food chain.
When i will redo my Nano Saltwater tank i will add a refugium, i try my best without it but ... you NEED a refugium to move forward.

Awesome, so glad to see you are planning on getting some mandarins, they are one of my favorite fish too. Great timing with you video too as I'm also preparing for some dragonetes, but with a slightly different approach, I'm setting up a display refugium that will house them and I custom built a sump with a phytoplankton culture chamber that will automatically dose and feed my pod population in the chaeto chamber. I'm currently culturing more phyto than I need to dose my tank so now I'm planning on starting a pod culture too so I can utilize my excess phyto, we were lucky to find 4 one gallon glass jars with lids and taps marked down from $8 to $1 each at Walmart, so now I just need the pods for them to start that culture, so I'll be checking out your friends pods for sure. I've been reading up on dragonetes and they are said to eat about 1000 pods per day per fish, I want a pair of mandarins and a pair of ruby reds so I'm making sure I prepare as best as I can for them and add a bit of my creativity to it in the process.

I have an all on one tank, no chaeto. Will copepods survive without a sump/chaeto? I really want a mandarin

Hi!!! I’m hatching brine shrimp, can I putt them with my Chaeto? If so, I need to turn my skimmer off? For how long?

Nice video. I got a pair of mandarins some months ago and am struggling to keep em fed. They do eat frozen now but they basically get scraps as they can't compete with the other fish. Gonna try this site cuz it looks like you get a lot in a bottle.

So do you also feed your fish once a day or does the monthly dosing of live food take care of them?

You guys are lucky! In my country, it is RARE to see live food (freshwater) let alone saltwater. I culture grindal worms but they last 2 months tops. Tried hatching brine, but was never able to get the amount required for my tank (250 gallon). Currently feeding frozen, pellets, flakes and seaweed.
