This is a really nostalgic video for me. My family used to have a cabin in the San Bernardino Mountains (Crestline/Valley of Enchantment area). Sometimes we'd go down 'the back way', taking CA-138 to meet up with I-15 and head back into the valley from there.

Beautiful views. I love how the freeways just follow the natural topography for the most part. Great video

Fantastic footage. I'd say that the Cajon Pass and the I-80 approach intodowntown San Francisco are the two most beautiful stretches of road in California.

It's cool to have another LA aera video. You are definitely right about the Cajon pass, it's one of the best drive in Southern California, pretty similar to Tejon pass in my opinion. Hopefully I'll be able to travel on these roads one day in my life. The 2nd track reminds me of ''Inga'', also by Alex H., another track used by Freeway Tim. Also, congrats for your 300 videos!
Also, today marks exactly 4 years since one of the best Basketball player that has ever lived named Kobe Bryant & 8 others peoples, including his 13-years old daughter died on an Helicopter crash in Calabasas, at around 45 km from Los Angeles. At his death's announcement, the entire NBA & all of his fans are on mourning. I remember hearing it on the radio as his death was heavily talked about at the time, there were indeed a lot of fans of fans & stars expressing their sadness. Ofc, I,ll never forget the day where Kobe Bryant died 😢

I’ve been on California state route 71 between Pomona and Corona but this is an interesting freeway because California state route 71 starts as a 5 lane freeway between interstate 10
And valley Blvd while the section between valley Blvd and Rio ranch road. There’s construction on California state route 71 between mission Blvd and rio rancho road to widen The section where California state route 71 is currently a four lane freeway to an eight lane freeway.

Maybe they should connect the future I-10 express lanes to the I-15 express lanes via a connector from I-10 east to I-15 south and the opposite

Fun drive. I've always wanted to do the LA-Vegas route in particular, but the chance of traffic in the desert always felt really intimidating

I’ve driven I-15 between Las Vegas and LA probably half a dozen times, most recently about an hour ago. I’ve never been stuck in traffic. I think as long as you avoided peak travel times on busy weekends you’d be fine.

Also I wonder what other IE freeways they’re adding express lanes

From a very young age I loved cars and just could not wait to learn how to drive (my Dad seemed so cool behind the wheel).
I’ve also had a long-time fascination with cities. Then in like 1973 I visited LA for the first time and I found the freeway system absolutely intoxicating. The number of lanes, the interchanges, the speed (non-rush hour). They’re unlike those of any other city.
It’s like that’s how it must feel to be a blood corpuscle in the human body - suddenly you get pulled into this big, fast-moving, exciting flow.
50 years later I still love driving and still love those freeways. It’ll never get old 😍

That's been my life story on getting into driving too lol. As I kid I loved how my dad could just jump in his car on a whim and go anywhere he wanted, the family roadtrips were great too. I got my learner's permit on my 16th birthday (the earliest one can drive here in Australia), and the rest is history.

I recorded this I think on my ninth trip to LA. It still hasn’t gotten old to me

@@GreatAussieDrives Yeah that sure sounds like me. When I was maybe 4, my Dad had a ‘63 Mercury Meteor that I just LOVED. He’d get home from work and I’d always be standing there, ready to climb in. I’d stay in there for hours, standing on the front seat with my hands on the steering wheel. The Mercury “Winged Messenger” badge was in the center of the steering wheel and I thought it was the coolest thing ever 😍
BTW the legal age for a license is 16 here, as well but you can get the learner’s permit at 15 yrs 9 mos. I was the first one there on that date, nose pressed up against the glass 😂

Cajon Pass has changed for many years. Even back when three US routes pass through there (66/91/395) before the change happens in the '60s when the interstates take over.

Some of the old divided highway is still in service just north of the Devore Interchange. Thanks for the comment.

Great drive! Have you ever driven New York State Thruway which includes the mainline, Berkshire Connector, Garden State Park Connector, New England Thruway, Cross-Westchester, and Niagara Thruway?
