You know, there's another D&D group that I follow an actively support that's makes me laugh and cry even more than these guys. The Unexpectables already have almost 150 episodes out that are similar in length to this, if you'd like some variety:) ruclips.net/video/12_OHnrD_lg/видео.html
When I was going through a divorce and stressed out, this got me through, just friends hanging out, laughing, didn't feel as alone, so I really appreciate it.
I have watched this easily a half dozen times. I am only now catching Chris' 'demanded a raise' joke about Mr. Stinky. Chris Perkins is a global treasure man.
The wings beating beneath him His silvery hair blowing out behind him.. A thousand square stare in his eyes.. He feels nostalgia as his standard action.. A single tear falls from his perfectly black (orgilar, orbilar, ordillar i actually have no clue) eye and turns it to a diamond as the wind catches it and carries it away. Wil Wheaton everybody, stand up and take a fucking bow, holy shit! Talk about setting the scene right in harmony with the soft melodic acoustic-guitar playing in the background, and people have the nerve to hate on Wil?!! To all of them i say, fuk you!!! Do you even have the slightest clue how freaking hard it is to just improve right of the bat, let alone on a stage with thousands of people watching you IRL, and not to forget how many thousands that saw this streamed live as well.. nothing rehearsed, he just, feels the vibe and catches it and just.. flows with it, even though he was joking, it made soo much better. Please AI, Please... bring Will back :'(
It will never cease to amaze me how Chris can keep the game on track and moving forward. Mike, Wil, and Scott especially tend to get distracted with jokes or roleplay or arguing, ON TOP of a long planned combat and having bards taking minutes out of play-time to sing custom songs, and yet he STILL manages it super well. All the characters are distinct, super evocative, and were given at least a moment in the spotlight with engaging dialogue and interpersonal relationships within the family. All the family drama is OOZING from these interactions and it's incredible. 10/10
***** They actually did make a very quick cameo in the 2014 Pax Prime game as a pair of stagehands. People cheered :) They also made a little happy/annoying app called SoundBard to let people entertain/taunt their friends at the gaming table with pre-recorded event-themed quips. ^_^
+BlackfootFerret A bit late but I'm glad you mentioned this, I never noticed who they were. Always made me wonder why people randomly started cheering for the stagehands lol
Okay I know everyone is saying that the bards are horrible, stupid, etc but as a DM myself I find that it added a bit more to the humor of the session. My players would really appreciate if I did this in one of our sessions.
I think it's telling that Paul and Storm made a quick cameo as stagehands during latest episode at PAX two weeks ago.. and the audience cheered. I think Haters are just louder than normal folks in general.

What I would do/pay to have Chris Perkins as DM for just one session of D&D... He is incredible. He inspired me to start my own group within my friends and I would give anything for him to DM just one session of mine!
This has always been my go to of the PAX Dnd games when showing a friend for the first time. I really like the bards and wish they'd bring them back (even thought they're apparently not for everyone). This episode also happened to be one of the funniest for me though, too.
Totally agree, the bards were great. It's amazing they had so much prepared and all the songs written and they did it all live! Sometimes I'll remember it and hear ACQUISITIONS INCORrrrPOoooRAATTEEEEEEDDDDD!
First time I saw this I LOVED the bards. But coming back and watching it now I feel like the interjected a little too much. idk I think if they came back I would get tired of them real fast.
1:21:40 Thats probably the 10th time i watched this episode and it just now came to my mind of what the bards play in the background reminds me.. its the danny phantom theme Always find something new with you guys after all that time.. LOVE IT!!!
Good lord. I've been going through the whole series and have really enjoyed it, but the bards really gave this something special. Absolutely incredible.
Only thing I can say about the whole Wil thing is that he's an actor. That's what they do. Heck, during the podcast he was fine. Soon as they did their first show, the first thing he did was play it up for the audience with the "Aeofel lives!" t-shirt. That's just what actors do. Think of it this way. At least Wil is trying to interact with his audience. Other actors wouldn't give a fan the time of day.
+Skullheart Plus he isn't stepping on others's lines. He's trying to make the game fun for everyone. If he falls flat sometimes, just remember, it's all improv. Not everything will work. He's not reading from a script and his lines aren't refined and rehearsed. Good on Wil. Well done.
+Skullheart I jut dont like the guy. you know that moment when you see an actor or hell just someone nd your like "Yeah idk i just dont like them" Thats how i feel about him. I gladly fastforward anytime he opens his mouth. and i look forward to the eps hes simply not in. Nothing personal to him. Just a fact of life. And there are times Wil treats fans like crap. especially if they calmly disagree with him or i seen someone wearing a shirt supporting something he didnt. I mean god forbid a human like something he don't. He can be and usually is a bully to people that don't adhere to what he thinks. Maybe thats why i dont like him. He went from the bullied to the bully. meh who knows.
+goddesschild24 Hello gamergater. How are you today? Do not like opinions against GG, congrats you are tottaly part of the gg cesspool. He is not a bully he spoke out against GG and that is the only time some of the fans got it. The only time. He has always over all these years made extra time for his fans and is one of the few cast of star trek that does. You could have brent spiner instead. Or you could have worse and have the ultimate diva that is shatner asking for ridicules prices and being an ass all the time. No, you hate will because you subscribe to a poisonous movement that harassed many women. Including the friend of wills that is Felicia Day. If someone messed with your friends, would you be happy with that movement? But hey who cares about the truth, meh who knows O yeah do not try to pull the no true scottsman fallacy or else I will just facepalm and walk away.
***** How about this. 3 weeks old. My comment had nothing to do with gamergate, your a keyboard bully and hacktivist annoyance And I no longer care about this situation. Btw being a female I'm allowed to decide for my goddamn self what I agree with and who I like. We aren't all inhernet victims unable to stand up and defend ourselves from evil people in vidya games that we can block and never see again. I know i was called a cunt licker once. Never seen the bastard type in trade chat again. See how that works. Ciao
Thanks :) I used Adobe Premiere Elements 10 for the editing. There were a few places where the 10 Wizards episodes didn't entirely overlap, for that I ripped some video from the lady who made the earlier Full Episode video (such as when the DM/golem reacts to Jim Darkmagic saying "You're not my Grandpa", which the Wizards edited out for unfathomable reasons) but kept the audio. I'm glad the result turned out as seamless as it did, extreme by-frame-zoom for the win ^_^
Well, there's nothing preventing anyone else from making such a video, but I think Paul and Storm really added something to this show, I think editing them out could cut out a lot of the heart. I actually made a video of their highlights from this episode
I'm pleased to announce that Paul and Storm and friends have created an app full of funny and stupid sound clips, titled "SoundBard", with something for every occasion at the gaming table :)
That cult is so bullshit. Not replying to the spam bot but to any curious or foolish types who might go there; it poses as a 'contest' asking people to submit their theories of everything, but only presents the authors in like eighty languages. A rambling nonsensical logical fallacy at best, a Jim Jones cult at worst, avoid at all costs and expose everywhere you find it!
"Now everybody's died, so till our tears have dried, we'll drink and drink and drink and drink and then we'll drink some more! We'll dance and sing and fight until the early morning's light and then we'll throw up by self(?) wake up and then go drinking once again HEY!" and that oath of enmity was epic lol
Wow this game takes so long to get into. Half and hour in and we are still mounting a dragon. Hell. And also the bards.....thank goodness they weren't in the sequel
I once thought up a rather low level quest involving a low level chaotic evil bard cursing the party into singing constantly (or other bard related activities that make it harder to communicate), then the party has to go into town in order to find the bard. After embarrassingly collecting information from the townspeople the party storms the bard's hideout, has a boss fight, and proceeds to repeatedly curb stomp him to death.
+mike steele I appreciate your enthusiasm :) But there probably isn't going to be more DND from my channel. All I really am is a fan with some video editing tools, when Acquisitions Inc made the jump from podcast to live show, Wizards originally chopped it, and other shows, into ten or even more segments, rendering them nearly unwatchable. All I really did was download all the segments, then splice them together into one long video. My crowning achievement was downloading the Twitch PAX broadcast of the 2012 show and splicing it into the Wizards RUclips version which had all the profanity sensored, and removed almost all of the Chris Straub cartoons, both of which I wisely edited back in. But since then, Wizards has gotten smart, kept using the Chris Straub cartoons, and have released each Acquisitions Inc episode as a single video. Which is a good.. it's left me with nothing to really do. If you want more RP videos, Wizards has life RP shows now. Geek and Sundry also has two shows, Wil Wheaton's 'Ashes of Valkana' series is really good, the other show has a cast of voice actors. The Yogscast have a show shows, and I listen to Major Spoilers "Critical Hit" podcast each night at work. It's an amazing show that starts very small, but quickly goes epic, the story must be ten fantasy novels long by now.
***** Oh come on, they had comedy, they actually made funny references, and the masturbate thing and Jerry reference were hilarious. I think you are just jealous
This was awesome, my entire day has been taken up by watching Chris's DnD sessions and during it I noticed that he reminds me a little of Matthew Fox, and Will reminds me of the Cinema Snob.
I think Wil was more chill in this. I don't know if he totally forgave AI for letting him die in the acid pit but he seemed a lot less annoyed and more jovial in his interactions than, you know, when he died.
Drama aside, I actually think Wil/Aeofel's acidic death, resurrection, hellish kidnapping and totally METAL rescue are some of the most fun parts of the Acq Inc story. While I can totally understand if Wil isn't a big fan, the storyline was a lot of fun, and made the experience a lot richer.
All of those things would have been better with about 65% less Wil Wheaton and more of everyone else. Time is limited, especially for live shows. He's loud and obnoxious and sometimes goes on for way too long with whatever unfunny shtick he's repeating. I just started listening/watching a couple weeks ago after starting with the youtube show, I was looking forward to Wil joining the podcast and finding out what the acid pit thing was all about. But he's just awful. Especially compared to Rothfuss, now there's a chill dude.
You know what I think of Rothfuss? Nothing. He's just ... there. He sits there with a beard and I can't remember a single thing he's ever said. Wil might be Marmite, but you remember him and the AI storylines with him in. There's precious little memorable about AI after he left.
I honestly think it is a toss up. They're both good at different things. Mercer has perkins beat hands down when it comes to characters, although part of that is his vast repertoire of voices he can draw from. Perkins I think is more flexible, and has vastly more experience with shifting groups of people. Part of what makes critrole so damn good is the cast, whereas perkins has to deal with folks who so aren't so charismatic. Neither of my opinions are meant to disparage either of them. I'm really enjoying Dice Camera Action, and while the cast for that show is wonderful, they just aren't trained to the same degree of improv that most of Vox Machnica are. . . and it shows. Another DM to watch is Mark Hulmes, who runs the yogscast highrollers stream. He is really damn good. I recently got pulled into that series, and am enjoying it greatly.
I actually started watching D&D (sadly noone around me is really interested in playing) just a couple of months ago with yogscast and they were the first to kind of draw me in.. and then I saw someone mention critical role so I gave it a shot, and have been on a binge for a couple of months now (seen everything related to critical role and a bunch of other producions too).. I agree that the cast of critical role definitely brings a lot to the quality vs. other shows and the best thing about it is the chemistry between the players and the DM.. but I also wouldn't say that Perkins is more flexible.. Admittedly, I haven't seen as much of him as Mercer, but seeing a number of Mercers interviews and one shots (especially the ones where they allow the chat room to influence the game if they donate for charity) he adapts to the story, the player's choices and whatever comes up unbelievably well and is just an excellent actor in those kind of unexpected situations. Also I prefer his naration style of the story, combat sequences and pretty much everything actually to Perkins'. I found that Perkins often just says smthng like "Yeah, he's dead".. while Mercer would go on to explain: "As you take the handle of your greataxe feeling the rage from getting hit boiling inside you, you look into the eyes of the cowering goblin beneath your feet and swing in a downward motion almost loosing conciousness from the uncontrollable anger ..." Having said all that, I'm sure, we could go on and on about both of them.. The fact is, both are great, I just prefer Mercer :)
No he isnt ... because some of the adventures are a bit too much "magical" ... with stuff that doesnt exist in the rules. Obviously a DM can make up things, but the "Pacific Rim in Waterdeep" episode was totally overboard and showcases my point.
@@ddhuzjak agree. But it's almost not fair to compare them. I will say this, if it wasn't for Chris Perkins I wouldn't have gotten into D&D to begin with.
TeddyGNOP I hate how he doesn't pick up any social cues from the other guys. He's doing it inappropriately over the top. Just shut the fuck up already.
+applesoranges He is acting in front of a crowd in a BIG auditorium ... and your gestures/acting/makeup HAS TO BE BIG so people in the last row still notice it.
Mister Stinky, bring me an arm Make it the juiciest, that I ever saw Give fiends some smacks, that they'll remember And tell them that they should consider surrender! (To the tune of Mister Sandman)
First 4 seasons or so are only available on podcast. It was later that they decided to do a live game. And since it has became so popular it's now annual.
This is about the 1400th time I've watched this. Never gets old.
You know, there's another D&D group that I follow an actively support that's makes me laugh and cry even more than these guys.
The Unexpectables already have almost 150 episodes out that are similar in length to this, if you'd like some variety:) ruclips.net/video/12_OHnrD_lg/видео.html
Same. Never fails to lift my mood!
The first three PAX 2010,2011,2012 are just 2-3hr comfort videos for me. Will always be in awe of the players wit, and Perkins DM skill
When I was going through a divorce and stressed out, this got me through, just friends hanging out, laughing, didn't feel as alone, so I really appreciate it.
More digestible than critical role.

It's so special coming back to these games years later
Every time I stop by just to listen to the intro I end up watching entire episode. And I can truthfully say, that it's my favourite one :D
It will never cease to amaze me how Chris can keep the game on track and moving forward.
"The Bronzebottom Family Song" always gets me :) Especially when Chris starts dancing
Totally agree, the bards were great. It's amazing they had so much prepared and all the songs written and they did it all live! Sometimes I'll remember it and hear ACQUISITIONS INCORrrrPOoooRAATTEEEEEEDDDDD!
As I'm watching this though it is kind of part of the magic that they only had the bards once.
First time I saw this I LOVED the bards. But coming back and watching it now I feel like the interjected a little too much. idk I think if they came back I would get tired of them real fast.
"Don't be a bard, bards are wankers." - Viyari
"Suddenly Aeofel's a hipster." It's true. He was "into" acid pits before they were cool.
"Are they undead?"
"Yes."
"I'm gonna fuck them up the ass."
A mood for every cleric and paladin.
Just started - these singers are doing such an awesome job.
Aeofel...in an acid pic
"Ay, you fell"
1:21:40
Thats probably the 10th time i watched this episode and it just now came to my mind of what the bards play in the background reminds me.. its the danny phantom theme
Always find something new with you guys after all that time.. LOVE IT!!!
Good lord. I've been going through the whole series and have really enjoyed it, but the bards really gave this something special. Absolutely incredible.
People seem to either love or hate Paul and Storm. I like them, and think more do than don’t. But those that don’t have been pretty loud before.
I know its WAAAAYYY too late (Im rewatching everything again) but Im kinda sad that Chris didnt get an intro song
He deserved the best, most epic one
The whole show was sort of his baby. There are tons of D&D liveplays now, after Acq Inc made them popular.
Rewatching these as well.
38:42 the darkmagic song was great and I love Chris and his reaction to it
I love how everything is canon.. until suddenly it isn't ;)
Fellow musician here... absolutely love the bards providing atmosphere for the campaign and the songs were just :D :D
But hey who cares about the truth, meh who knows
O yeah do not try to pull the no true scottsman fallacy or else I will just facepalm and walk away.
Ciao
Faceplam hard I want it to leave a pretty red mark. Mwah edit oh and fck Wil wheaton!
Thank you so much for uploading these full videos . This one is my personal favourite. Funnier than some stand up shows i've seen.
I don't understand; you mean everyone doesn't start their session with an 8 minute musical introduction?
If I, or anyone else in my party, could play an instrument, I would recap like that.
It's a great way to get the party ready after a long hiatus.
well u know in this economy and as the trade war between baldurs gate and water deep keeps rolling on everyone has to cut back
I don't think it's any coincidence they were never invited to do it again.
I understand that they are meant to be fearsome warriors, but Jerry is an adorable man. I love watching him laugh and bob his head to the music.
Perkins is so the man!
Upside if the Pandemic, getting to rewatch years if content!
Chris cracking up about Wil's complaining about the acid kills me.
Dude, thank you for your work. I appreciate it
Jim's performance dominantes this round. He's perfect as the home coming rich kid
So awesome. Way too much work to have to click different vids lol. I love these guys and almost watch both games daily. Again awesome work
Well, there's nothing preventing anyone else from making such a video, but I think Paul and Storm really added something to this show, I think editing them out could cut out a lot of the heart. I actually made a video of their highlights from this episode
Mike Krahulik kills it in this one. This is his adventure, Chris and his banter is everything.
I'm pleased to announce that Paul and Storm and friends have created an app full of funny and stupid sound clips, titled "SoundBard", with something for every occasion at the gaming table :)
BlackfootFerret HeHEHEH
gO tO tRuThConTEstcOm, ReaD tHE PrESent
Paul Reeves Shut the hell up.
What the hell happend in this commentsection?
RUclips happened :P
Oh yeah, the song was amazing, and it really added a lot to the show! A good introduction is half the deal! Thanks for the video :)
Wow. As Chris is talking about Jims inheritance, the bards Are playing "money".
This is one of my favorites, more role-play less initiative. Really enjoyable
I freaking love Binwin. He's the only heroic one of the corporation.
Wanderingsage7 Well, it’s a bit like The Four Musketeers. They aren’t always hero’s... but they’re definitely Legends 🤓🤔
AWSOME,,,i love watching these guys,,kills me...good show on spliceing them bro!
500k of these views are me rewatching this bad boy. Love the early days of AI.
Thanks for uploading :) really enjoying these!
has anyone notice that they introduced Wil that thing that was covering him was supposed to resemble Acid pit
Season 5 is up as well, there's an annotation that takes you there at the start of the video
"you're not my grandpa" XD
Thank you so much for uploading this. These are hilarious and I also hate the parts.
1:02:28 I didn't expect Chris to say that, I was laughing so hard. xD
"Now everybody's died, so till our tears have dried, we'll drink and drink and drink and drink and then we'll drink some more! We'll dance and sing and fight until the early morning's light and then we'll throw up by self(?) wake up and then go drinking once again HEY!"
and that oath of enmity was epic lol
I am not much of a Wheaton fan, but his nostalgic monologue on the back of the dragon nearly had me in tears
Thanks for posting this! It's awesome!
14:02 I don't think anyone got Chris's "Demanded a Raise" pun lol
I did, but only after watching this about 5 times :)
To be fair, this was certainly not my first viewing either ;)
oh my god i just got it
Raise the Dead! Mr. Stinky wants a health plan ^_^
Have to admit, I've heard the line every time I have watched this, but only got the pun after reading this.
Wow this game takes so long to get into. Half and hour in and we are still mounting a dragon. Hell. And also the bards.....thank goodness they weren't in the sequel
If I"ll ever start another d&d play I"ll focus it around the annihilation of every bard living in the world.
The Full UNCENSORED 2012 Episode "The Lost Episode" is now up!
I enjoyed this live play.
One of my all time favorites!
this was epic. I loved watching it, can't wait to watch the next part.
"I caught my first Kobold STD here"
Some time before any of my group were aware of these sessions, they named their party Acquisitions Inc. We had a huge laugh when we stumbled on these.
"if we all hit you at once, you will explode"
Jerry is funny as hell.
Awesome stuff. Make more and make it now!! Lovin' it.
The singers are amazing
***** Guess I am 5
I agree lol. The critical miss song :)
***** Oh come on, they had comedy, they actually made funny references, and the masturbate thing and Jerry reference were hilarious. I think you are just jealous
***** I think you're the second option you've mentioned
***** This is just them having a good time with some of their friends is all. You should listen to some of Paul & Storm other goods.
Man, these Acquisition Inc. actual plays are as fun to watch as a movie.
Now I wanna wear a cape when I play.
I choose to ignore the haters,
Paul and Storm are the fucking greatest
This was awesome, my entire day has been taken up by watching Chris's DnD sessions and during it I noticed that he reminds me a little of Matthew Fox, and Will reminds me of the Cinema Snob.
1 hour and 38 minutes in: We have made it to combat
I just got the "he demanded a raise" joke. Le facepalm.
These were the days of AI
"Is that an owlbear?" ... what a preview of Wil's future, which is filled with owlbears.
I love how they really dedicate themselves to their characters. They are consistent in personality and it adds soooo much.
Awesome man! Thanks for the heads up :D
I've never played a game of DND in my life and still find this endlessly entertaining.
Chris Perkins is the best DM I swear to god.
close. matt mercer ;)
I found that Perkins often just says smthng like "Yeah, he's dead".. while Mercer would go on to explain: "As you take the handle of your greataxe feeling the rage from getting hit boiling inside you, you look into the eyes of the cowering goblin beneath your feet and swing in a downward motion almost loosing conciousness from the uncontrollable anger ..."
Having said all that, I'm sure, we could go on and on about both of them..
That's because the PAX Prime game for this year happened LAST NIGHT :) Videos are just starting to surface in the morning
Wil's definitely got that main character complex going on.
Nah
TeddyGNOP He is just the one person on the table who ACTS OUT HIS CHARACTER. The others are more "directing themselves in 3rd person".
TeddyGNOP I hate how he doesn't pick up any social cues from the other guys. He's doing it inappropriately over the top. Just shut the fuck up already.
+Muck006 He's just the one person who tries too hard and comes off like an insecure, annoying kid.
+applesoranges He is acting in front of a crowd in a BIG auditorium ... and your gestures/acting/makeup HAS TO BE BIG so people in the last row still notice it.
There's a link in the show description if you click "SHOW MORE" underneath it
"Arkanhampshire" ha I'm from Arkansas and that shit was funny right there.
"They opened for Jonathan of Coulton" was one of my favorite lines.
Oh my god, Jim's reactions have me dying I'm laughing so hard. XD
They have a studio version you can download off the Penny Arcade site, link is in expanded video notes
I lost my shit when Scott said "Utgarde Keep," all I could think was, "Hopefully they get the blue proto drake from the next boss."
Great job; thanks for doing this!
Mister Stinky, bring me an arm
Make it the juiciest, that I ever saw
Give fiends some smacks, that they'll remember
And tell them that they should consider surrender!
(To the tune of Mister Sandman)
Mr. Stinky wanted a Raise. Gets me every time 😻🤓
Ok, he really needed to do a dang acrobatics roll to do all those flips and jump off a freaking bear.
"I did not go to Hell and back to let some cat take my friend's books."
@Xavierwoodsphd 8 years too goddamn late.
I love chris' outfit for this pax con; they all have great role playing and are extremely entertaining to watch!
I love Paul & Storm, this is the first time I'm actually seeing what they look like haha
First 4 seasons or so are only available on podcast. It was later that they decided to do a live game. And since it has became so popular it's now annual.
"Four meatatours appear"
"So that's why lunch took so long."
Probably still my favorite episode of the entire series.
that intro was on point
"I know a guy who flew a spaceship. That's basically a house." Oh, Wil.
anyone else catch "money" being played at 1:06:20 as jim was getting his part ofthe will read.... thats great
For not being as action packed as the others, this one is definitely the most entertaining.
