    2000ad, for me was the only comic. it was the be all and end all of comics for me as i grew up, myself and my friends followed every issue , the artist were superstars to us, we would discuss the latest issues, and the artwork, i stayed up night after night and copied the drawings, and created my own home made characters. 2000ad was my childhood ! (which im reliving now as an adult) and still means a lot to me. thankyou pat mills & all the rest of the 2000ad team.

    Another great Kayfabe and good to see McMahon getting those namechecks from the Master. I've been waiting on the print ed of Spacewarp but gone digital on the back of Mr Mills' enthusiasm which needs to be bottled and sold. I was nine when 2000AD surfaced and of course it shaped my life: all the best to the Spacewarp crew and may it gather true momentum.

    The best yet! I grew up with this guy without every knowing his name. 2000AD absolutely transformed UK comics in the late 1970s. It paved the way for so many great writers and artists. It's great to see this guy's anarchic spirit is so very much alive, all these years later. I am indebted to you guys for this interview, amazing stuff!

      Check out the Private Eye storyline. An obvious Batman expy, but freed from the need to get everything past DC's gatekeepers, so Pat and Kev can show us what they really think of the billionaire who gets his kicks beating up poor people.

    So amazing! I love it that he tries so hard to find a market and make comics for that market. The biggest thing for comic book companies today is to hook the young and teen readers.

    He’s right about comics taking too long to pay off, no wonder they’re struggling to get young readers, my niece gets bored in 5 seconds.

    • @ToLa-qe1pg
      @ToLa-qe1pg 4 года назад +7

      Manga is doing great with young readers. Much of the problem with modern western comics is the content, most of the industry is stacked with people more concerned with making political statements than with making entertaining stories (i.e. Marvel with their disastrous New Warriors ideas).

    • @blacktionjackson7133
      @blacktionjackson7133 4 года назад +7

      Lack of cool art and an abundance of slow, boring stories will do that.

    • @palchristianandersen9086

      I feel like everyone is saying the comic book industry's nothing but sjw bullshit right now, but I'm finding cool new stuff all the time. I don't really fuck with Marvel and DC though, so that's probably why.

    Being an 80's teenager in the UK, my surrogate Mother was Margaret Thatcher, who routinely abused me and my whole generation in ways that I'd just as soon forget. However, Pat Mills was my surrogate Father, and he inspired my passion for sedition, insurrection and indirectly, LSD. But all in all, I'm a lot more functional than many of my bredrin, some of whom are no longer with us. My only question for Pat is . . . . Why did you make Joe Pineapples cross-dress that time? Now I'm unsure what kind of sex robot I'm attracted to.
    edit; Am I detecting the influence of Billy Whiz in this inerview, Daddy Pat? ;)

      If you're implying that Pat was on speed -- haha! You've clearly never seen him in action before! He's always like that when he gets passionate about the comics industry. Trust me - I'm married to him!

    • @millsverse4292
      @millsverse4292 4 года назад

      Pat says he and Tony wanted to mock Joe's super cool by having him cross dress. But it rebounded on them, as it made Joe seem cooler than ever 🤣
