    Sin dudas, una grandísima pérdida de un enorme pianista (y, seguramente, de un ser humano excepcional a juzgar por su fidelidad a su tierra y a su gente), de humildad y timidez notables, cuanto de un gigantesco talento. Martha Argerich ha relatado que ella grabó su disco debut para la Deutsche Grammophon impulsada por el, y que ella aprendió de Nelson las rapsodias op 79 para la grabación. Tuve la oportunidad de escucharlos en vivo en el Teatro Colón en 1999, en el primer “regreso” de Martha al país después de 1986…nunca olvidaré ese concierto. Hoy vi imágenes de su sepelio en Boa Esperança…qué simpleza, casi diría desolación pero, al mismo tiempo eso debe haber reflejado el deseo póstumo de un brasileño de pura cepa.

    Excelente indicação.Martha Argerich visitou o amigo de tantos anos em outubro.Sua morte é uma perda sem tamanho em muitos sentidos: como artista, como pessoa, como represente maior do pianismo do Brasil.

    I wonder if somebody could clarify something... In obituaries, some mention Freire's widower, and others do not. Was he married? I hope it doesn't seem nosy or rude, I'm just curious!

      @@MaxLima1 Thank you! Although he was always one if the pianists I admire the most, I know so little about his life, and so I was interested to know these few details. Not that I need to know about his life - the music is what's important
