  • I numbered all the Libraries, so let me know which one was your favorite!
    Mine was #1 of course!
    I love Little Free Libraries and I was determined to go to as many as I could within a few days. I didn't show many of the books I swapped because they were books my mom and I didn't care to ever read. Next time I can show books I unhaul when I don't have so many libraries in the video!

    I'm late to the party but oh my gosh, what a fantastic vlog. I wish I was with you the whole way. You can't possibly have visited this many in just one day! I think 10 in one day is the limit for me, and I don't even film my adventures. I just love Little Free Libraries!

      There may be more than you think. I’m in Ontario and most of the ones in my city are not registered through the free little library site. It is very $$$ to register and get the plaque sent to Canada. I have a little library and I decided not to register for that reason. There’s a Facebook page for all the libraries in my city - you might just need to search for them.

  • @ryan61384
    @ryan61384 2 года назад +16

    It is cheaper if you build your own LFL out of some found materials like an old kitchen cabinet or an old newspaper box. Then all you have to spend money on is the registration sign to add your LFL to the world map.

    • @BookishKLa
      @BookishKLa  2 года назад +17

      Sounds like taking a trip to a thrift store to find a cabinet would be a good way to find materials! I would love to diy it and make it like a dollhouse.

    That is amazing! I've never even seen one of these in person. I've heard there are a few around here, but haven't been to see any yet. I really want to though because I have literally THOUSANDS of books I could donate and could find a few for me as well.
    It is a dream of mine to have one in my yard.
    I don't see how you can keep them from getting moldy being outside with the dew and humidity. I live in Alabama where the humidity is horrendous so I guess that would be an issue.

  • @karenroyer4352

    This tour is a great idea. My interest was in the creativity & artistry of the exterior design, sizes, the comparison of one "story" or two or three for the books, lighting/no lighting, latches & pulls, finishes that worked well & those that did not, inviting signage, that sort of thing. It was interesting to me that the interior painted black/very dark was not as inviting as the ones that were lighter in color, the structures that were deeper could (obviously) hold more, I liked the option side shelving for oversized books, and thought the clutter like cans/stuffed animals were not an asset. The hand sanitizer was a nice touch though. Your video could be streamlined by editing out the extra footage of your choosing the actual books - the libraries themselves were the far better feature.

  • @ryan61384

    You guys need to keep a small pocket knife on you when you go out LFL hunting cause then you have a tiny screwdriver on you to tighten up loose latches on LFL's like I do when I go out.

      And I'll add my hard-won wisdom to this suggestion. 1) Be aware of street sweeping days in the area you're visiting. I live in a big city and our streets are swept once a week. Parking can be a pain if you're limited to only one side of the road. 2) Bring your phone charger. I research books on Amazon or Goodreads before I take them, and that really sucks up the battery life over the hours. 3) For your skin's health, please put on sun screen before heading out, and consider wearing a hat. 4) Stay hydrated.

    There is a free library on my bus route and every time we stop to take passengers I try and read the titles. I have a heap of books that I want to move along so I might just put a heap in there even if I don't see any I want to exchange for them😍 Apparently there's also one down the road from me (but I haven't seen it) so I'm going hunting for it on the weekend.

    Im going to be honest on this one. LFL's dont necessarily require you to leave a book if you take one but you hit 52 and took a book from every single one. I saw minimal books in exchange and the ones you did leave were ancient or ridiculous. To me this was poor content and major greed. Half the time it looked like you were taking a book just for the sake of it.
