Amazon cancelled the Tick because it didn’t meet Amazon’s “standards” which means it was well made, entertaining and had a devoted fan base. Amazon only keeps shows that are cheap to make, quality doesn’t matter to them.
@@marybarnes6407 Producers were keen to return attention to the series so they could make more money from the whole franchise. Most producers are idiots, however, and can never seem to realise when it’s time to quit. The Tick animated series was so bizarre, it could have been on MTV. In between episodes of Aeon Flux and The Maxx.... Man... the 90s were quite wild, right?
And it aired on FoxKids as well. But hey if they brought back Animaniacs, maybe they’ll bring back The Tick. Cuz I seriously MUST know who the Tick is. That’s LITERALLY been the question fans have been asking for years. Yet no one knows, not even Tick himself. Mainly due to him being an amnesiac from years of head injuries. We don’t know his origins, full name (his first name is Mark), his home town, family, or if his suit is actually a suit or if it’s part of his skin. So many questions for this heroic hero who holds out his arms and gives Destiny a big hug, embracing Destiny with every squeeze.
The Tick is one of my absolute fan's and it is in my "rotation" of background videos that I have running pretty much non-stop. Others in the playlist include "The Venture Bros", " Frisky Dingo", Futurama", "Bullwinkle", "Samurai Jack", "One Punch Man" and "Archer". They are all soooooooo good.
This show was 99% perfect. Perfect characters, voice acting and one of the best themes of all time. Only reason it isn't perfect is because Batman TAS and Gargoyles exist
To this day I still laugh every time I empty the lint in my dryer, because of "Lint speed!" After all, lint is already in the dryer...BECAUSE IT'S THAT FAST!"
My favorite episode is the episode which shows the moon getting messed with again, when the "C" is removed and a huge bite is taken out of it by the Galactus-analog Omnipotus. Unfortunately this episode was not included in the Tick DVD set for some reason, which I always considered to be a bummer. Must be puzzling too for people like me who never saw this episode (I saw the rest of the second season before catching this one) wondering how the moon got a bite taken out of it.
@@JStryker47 Yes; the show was very good with its continuity I must say. Thing is, I was a latecomer to the watching the show. I didn't see the first season until after I saw the second one (thank goodness for reruns), and the episode with Omnipotus almost last of all, so needless to say that was very, very confusing to me - and in those days before Internet was widely available I had no easy way to find out why the moon was like that right away. 😁
Patrick Warburton was perfectly cast to play The Tick in live-action. Too bad the show didn’t last long. One quibble: American Maid was renamed “Captain Liberty” for the show, which was not only unfunny, but lame
I saw a teaser for the live-action show that instantly turned me off of it. Where Patrick Warburton (I'm not calling him The Tick - he's just Patrick Warburton in cosplay) rips a coffee machine out of the ground at a gas station, steals a coffee, and says "Coffee, you are my BITCH." The Tick would never swear or steal coffee, it goes completely against his naive, childish, heroic demeanour. Any damage he causes is incidental and accidental, and he would never steal.
Very smart for its time. It could easily compete with anything else in today’s entertainment industry. A great piece of meta commentary on the super hero genre reminding us what else we can do with that genre. A lesson creators should take more chances on as they’ve already watered down too much of the genre by reusing the same heroes the same way almost every time! We were very fortunate to have grown up with brands like the Tick. Really don’t envy today’s generation given the industry these days…
I would love to see a superhero show similar to the Tick and not just another dark and gritty deconstruction of the superhero genre like the Boys or Invincible
The Tick animated show was so awesome, I watched it on Fox Kids, and was syndicated on Comedy Central and subsequently helped make it a cult hit with adults. It seems that Comedy Central will be showing the new episodes either the day after or the week after they appear on FOX. Besides showing them on Sundays at 7, the episodes will also appear Sundays at midnight, Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. Comedy Central did not create any new episodes and after about two years of reruns, they stopped running the show. It was brought by Disney and Toon Disney began airing The Tick in 2005, along with other former FOX animated series like X-Men. It would also occasionally air on ABC Family as part of the Jetix cartoon block.
The joke that made me spit out my soda was the wallet angler line. They go into the sewers and theres a wallet with like a 5 dollar bill sticking out of it. Its a lure used by an angler fish😂
Ben Edlund was from Brockton Massachusetts, about 45 minutes from my house, he did the black and white comic for New England Comics, I have the fist 5 issues.
I'm glad to see that there is still a The Tick fanbase going around. I love the comics and the animated show so much. Kinda got into it because of the Venture Brothers, it has a very similar humor, aside from the more mature themes, but still, they are just both really great shows
I used to love watching that show. I would wait to watch it on Saturday. Fastest half hour ever. Would love to get all the episodes on cd,if it is possible. Spoon!

I realize my comments are being made about a largely trivial, though in my opinion, well made, cartoon; but again, I find a mistake: in The Tick vs. Arthur's Bank Account, the narrator refers to the Tick's crime tower as an ancient, run-down pigeon coop; however, in the show, the Tick is seen constructing it by hand with lumber he presumably just purchased with Arthur's credit cards! In the Tick Universe, however, hilarity ensues.
