I'll admit The Boys comic is pretty bad. But the show is on a whole different level by getting away from the comic and forming its own identity. It's really rare to see something excel by distancing itself from the source material like that. Not really fair to compare The Tick to The Boys because they're both their own beasts. The Tick is a parody while The Boys is a satire.

There is something deeply funny to me about American Maid. She is, by far, the most competent superhero in the show, and she's pretty much written like all "STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMEN" archetypes proving she can do what any man can and more And yet her persona is a maid, It's like the writer was thinking: how can I undo all of that goodwill with just a costume choice? Brilliant joke

Wow! This was really funny for a kid's show! I'm 25 and laughing my ass off! I didn't watch a whole lot of this as a kid, and what I did watch I don't really remember. But I have to say I can't think of a single kid's show today that is this funny!

Fox Kids dominated weekdays and Saturday mornings when I was a kid for a good while. Fox was taking risk especially with kids television. The tick was funny when I was a kid because they had silly jokes that kids could laugh at. But there's things that I see now as an adult, i appreciate it alot more.

Weird for these days, yeah. Most stuff kids watched before the 2000s was by adults making stuff they'd like to watch themselves. For instance, the xmen series was actually trying to be a faithful and accurate adaptation of the comic books, even if the censor boards forced them to water some things down or "get creative". Then theres The Simpsons. Almost everyone at my primary school watched and loved The Simpsons.
