Don't quit your day job. K4 has always been its designation in Korea. Kia is simply now bringing its naming in line with that nomenclature. Names typically sell better in the States compared to letter and number designations. Apparently the k5 has sold so well that that changed their thinking.

I just picked up a new 24 Forte GT with a manual three weeks ago. I’m glad I did because the last year of a design is typically the most reliable. I’m not so sure about this new K4’s styling though.Similarly,I bought an 2010 Elantra brand new, then not too long afterwards the new 2011 came and I didn’t like it’s looks. I also kept that 2010 Elantra 10 years and 148K,the longest I ever kept one car! I gave it to my Dad 4 years ago and it’s still going! So I’m looking to repeat that love affair but for even longer!

I have a 2016 Elantra and it has been trouble free in its 78k miles. Best car I ever have owned and would not hesitate to consider another Elantra - but the next needs to be a hybrid. I would gladly consider the k4 if such were available.

Hyundai and Kia are really making very innovative designs, and people are really offended by it, and it's hilarious to me! 😂 They are thinking that how dare the Koreans make their cars look like this?! These brands are showing that economy cars can be fun and stylish to drive. They made the impossible, possible. Hate all you want. But the Koreans are really challenging their competitors to do better in the styling and tech department.

Those folks offended by Kia and Hyundai most likely never even owned one. So their opinion doesn’t count. I bought a 2010 Elantra brand new and had it for 10 years and 148K which is the longest I ever kept one car. Previously I had between 96-2010 two Cadillacs,a Chevy Avalanche and a Lincoln TC. That’s an average of 3.5 years per car! Now I just got a 24 Forte GT and hope to repeat the former love but instead I’m aiming for 10+ years and over 148K miles! BTW,I gave the old Hyundai to my dad and it’s still going!

Hyundai and Kia really do kill it with design. They make the neatest looking cars inside and out and are super premium. Love this new updated Kia K4 and its hands down the nicest in its segment in my opinion. It will sell great. I love the look of the new Sorento and the upcoming Kia Carnival van is gorgeous! I do t have kids and I would drive that van haha. I would have easily went back to Kia and Hyundai (I trade in every 2-3 years on a new car) except for all the recalls and they seem to have a lot of engine issues and fire risk issues. More and more pop up even on newer models. Just a little scary to me. But I must say they make the best looking vehicles with premium features, premium materials, great prices, long warranty and so on. They are hands down an amazing brand I hope the recalls and fire risk start to go away for them.

Sad to see that there will me no manual transmission. Vehicles with a 150+ to 200 and something hp are most fun with a manual. My other gripe is that the 1,6 turbo gets the traditional automatic while the 2.0 litre atmospheric which imo would have been the most obvious to go for gets the dreaded CVT. Thanks but no thanks. Honda might have a very similar approach but their CVTs at least have a first launching gear and they still offer a manual.

I remember when this segment was just about basic transportation. I kinda miss that type of approach to vehicles instead of brainwashing everyone into thinking they need to have a premium experience and are convinced to spend more to get that.

Honestly, I like the Forte better. We need more basic, inexpensive cars. Not overly tech, over styled cars.

They are innovative but sometimes it makes their cars unreliable. It's the problem of the preference of choosing one, taking innovative new technologies and slick designs but sometimes not so reliable over conservative and dated but reliable.
I don't say they're not completely unreliable but comparing to conservative Japanese cars, they're surely not so reliable.
