- Arcanine was listed in the Pokedex as a "Legendary" Pokemon. It showed up next to the Legendary Birds on the wall of Viridian City Gym in the anime. But it's stats, lack of moves, and typing made it trash in Gen 1... But what if there was a way to actually make it possible to beat Pokemon Yellow on Minimum Battles

~~Rules~~
-Solo Challenge: No other Pokemon in battle, no items in battle, no glitches exploits (other than badge boost glitch)
*IF team faints, we can faint HM pokemon to blackout*
-No Vitamins
-0 DVs/ 0 IVs
-Disobedience

~~Scoring System~~
Scoring:
-Pokemon Starts with a score of 100 points.
-Minus 0.1 points per reset (10 resets = 1 point)
-Minus 0.25 points per optional battle (4 optional battles = 1 point)
-Minus 1 point per TM (Excluding Broken TMs)
-Minus 10 points per Broken TM (Double Team, Substitute, Mimic, Rest, Bide, Toxic)

Process:
Every Pokemon goes through 3 separate tests:
1. Minimum Battles
2. No TMs
3. Optimization for score on the tier-list
Standard Rules:
1. 0 DVs/ 0 IVs (Worst Possible Stats).
2. No Items in Battle.
3. No Stat Boosting Vitamins (HP Up, Carbos, Iron, Calcium, Protein).
4. No other Pokemon in battle (HM Mules allowed outside of battle).
5. Timer STARTS when I select New Game, and ENDS when the Champion is defeated.
6. Required Battles are the 65 battles that cannot be avoided without glitches (See Jrose11's original Minimum Battles video.
7. Pokedoll Glitch is a glitch and therefore banned.
8. Brock Through Walls is banned.
9. Badge Boost Glitch is allowed without restrictions.
10. Save states for routing and catching HM Pokemon only.
11. No wild encounters, except to catch HM Pokemon.

People don't realize fire spin and bind are the most broken moves in the game if you outspeed just need a bit of luck to actually hit them multiple times

I was about to comment about that too. It's a Move Tutor move in Crystal and much better than Fire Spin.
I mean, based on his rules, he is playing the game as if he started with a legitimate level 5 arcanine to start the game, even using tradebacks (the mechanic used to get fire spin and agility) however you can only breed 2 moves onto a growlithe, so he opted for fire spin and agility, probably thinking those were the better choices for the run, esp with firespin's trapping

There are 3 thumbnails for this one being run in a test and compare - one that is from a scene in the video slightly edited, one that is my usual style, and one automatically generated in VidIQ. Running as a test for this one, since RUclips added the thumbnail testing feature
@@RBYPokemonChallenges Personally I'm not a fan of the auto-generated one, but also that's the only one that's appearing for me no matter how many times I refresh or change page. Maybe the test and compare is user-based?

Not quite walking and talking. but he's grown a fair bit and is getting smiley now. He just hates being put down and Daddy's belly is his favorite nap spot. Great for bonding, but kind of hard to play and edit with him in one arms

Nah, I have Keratoconus that is well beyond correctable by glasses. I had scleral lenses back when I was in the states, but haven't gotten new ones since coming to Japan.

You have 1/65535 chances to have the same Trainer ID in two save files.
It's low but the same as getting PokéRus, so still doable.
You could do challenges with traded mons without disobedience then.
Pokerus is 3/65535

I intentionally set disobedience for the same reason I use 0 DVs in my runs, I find both to be too unrealistic to the real experience of the game

Been awhile since I watched some videos. It was a great one. Thanks! Tradebacks offer a lot of potential usefulness, as even with disobedience, it actually allowed Arcanine to function in a minimum battles environment.
I was curious about a minimum battles question---do Pokemon caught for field moves count? If not, extra question, do Pokemon caught for *optional* field moves (Teleport, Cut in RSE, etc.) count?
I generally don't count catching a field move user as a battle. In Yellow, the only wild Pokemon I catch is to use Fly though.

Fire spin and agility made Lorelei a bit more bearable,even though you had to cheese with fire spin but it's still made it not use broken TMs. 😊
Like you said Kanto is not a fan of fire and electric types , that's why most of them would perfer to run double team.🤔

But you said you fought rival 2, which is an optional battle.
I think you mean you fought rival 1 a second time.

Are you referring to the optional battle left to viridian city? Thats not the one he was referring to. Rival 2 is the one on nugget bridge, which is mandatory.
Even on super minimum battles, rival 2 isn't optional
@@mike18911222 ya he is since Super Minimum Battles uses a traded HM Mule with Cut, surf, and Strength. you just head south after beating misty and use the daycare shortcut tree. its Rival 5 and later that are nonoptional.
Yeah, he misspoke there. Most likely where he had to restart and that caused him to fight Rival 1 a second time, but because he loses to him rather than resetting on him it still counts the battle when he goes through it again (sort of like when he does blackout grinding).
The only optional Rival fight is the one he calls "1A" which is the early Viridian fight, Rival 2 will always be Cerulean.
I misspoke on rival 2. the optional battle in the overlay was because I forgot my own rules, beat Rival 1, then was like, oh yeah, I have to lose to Rival 1 in my tradeback ruleset, so I restarted but the battle stayed on the overlay
Sometimes i just don't understand the battles.
Yeah I needed to tighten some of those up more. This was the first one that I did with an outside editor, so the final product didn't include the timeline for me to go back and tweak things. Good experience, and a few things I learned for next time
