    when he was raking the sand at the end, it was satisfying watching it cover the mound.

    I'm a pitcher, nice mounds make a big difference. Not only does it make it easier to perform, but make you more comfortable as well

      I wouldn't even pitch yesterday because of the mound we played on. Can easily take 89-90 and turn it into 80-81 with the added risk of injury.
      Made me look up a YT video so I can learn to just fill it myself next time. Time to start stealing the good clay when I go to minor league games ;)

      i remember pitching on shitty mounds in 80% of my high school games. it definitely makes a huge difference

    Some fields don't pack down in front of the rubber with extra dirt before games making a big divot that cause pitchers toe. It is a major pet peeve of mine

    Makes me want to go fix our Pony mound. I love dragging and raking the field and watering and chalking the lines. It is a decent surface, but this mound looks great.

    We install these all the time. Only thing I would add is to check the home plate and pitching rubber grades with a laser level to insure 10" difference. However this is probably only necessary at collegiate or pro levels. Very nice informative video!

      You like cactus and were researching soil conditioners like Turface MVP? That's my path lol but I really enjoyed the video. It makes me wonder what % of the public know a pitchers mound isn't just a pile of dirt. I was ignorant I admit.

    Edge around hill, roll with paint roller and herbicide to kill everything in the mound area. then rough up and pull extra material for clay bricks. all of this will make it so you dont have to bring more clay in for the edges/lip of the grass. removing the grass and roots by digging removes material.

    The mound at my high school teams field got about 2 inches lower over the course of our season

    • @plasmac9
      @plasmac9 4 года назад

      The field we played on was used almost every day during the baseball season. The mound and batters box had to be redone twice a season because kids would just constantly dig it out trying to get extra leverage off the rubber or in the batters box.

      Thanks for the question Jason! The materials list is at 2:21 in the video. The amount you will need will depend on the job but this should give you an idea. For further assistance, feel free to contact one of our branch locations if you have one in your area.

      e walt when I pitched I liked to have a small divot in front of the mound cause it would increase the velocity of my pitches when I would launch myself off the mound.

    • @heartt4994
      @heartt4994 5 лет назад +3

      Nick Bemo velocity doesn’t come from launching, it comes from rotation.

    When I was 13 I measured 60' 6" by starting with the front end of the pitcher's mound or in my case, the line I drew on the ground with a twig to the FRONT part of home plate and not the apex of home plate as shown here. damn. I had us all these years pitching from too far away! maybe 12 inches too far! If anything i should have made it 12 inches closer!!! since none of us threw over 65mph anyway! what a waste of 20 years.
