I would honestly love that job. There's only eleven of them, so they got to be making decent money. They got their own locker room, they get to go to every home game, and 9 times out of 10, the grounds crew gets to personally know the players of the team. Sounds like luxury if you ask me.

I do this as a part time job at a single A stadium and it is fun, however the hours are terrible. You get there hours before the stadium opens and you’re there an hour after the stadium closes

of course you're not going to be rich, but I imagine you make pretty decent money being the head grounds keeper and its not like you're doing that job because of the money.

It's rewarding work. If you can make it up to a head GK job you can make a great living, but working just as a groundsman in the MLB, it's not uncommon to make minimum wage. It's a fun job if you're ok working 100 hours a week.

btw, the distance between home plate and center field is 396 or 16th of a mile. Thats 132 yards which is 4 yards longer than an American Football field from back of End Zone to back of the opposite End Zone. For our Canadian teams its 122.22 Meters or .12 kilometers.

There's nothing like a Major League ballpark, I would love to see all 30 of them.
As someone who just prepares fields for my local boys and girls club, which is significantly easier than the majors due to much smaller fields and much lower expectations from fans, players and coaches, I can appreciate this video. Prepping baseball fields is very high in work, and is often overlooked or underappreciated.
I know what you mean i prep baseball and softball fields for highschool i work for its pretty cool once you have it down.

well, the area of a circle is A = pi*r^2. Since the field is 90 degrees wide (from each foul lines, not including anything outside the foul lines) just get the area and divide that by 4. (3.14)(396)^2 = about 492651 ft, divide that by 4 and you get about 123163 square feet of ground plus a few more if you include the areas outside the foul lines.

I maintain a schools baseball field and nothing is funnier when people haven’t used it in 2 months and then they want it ready to go in 2 days not understanding the amount of labor involved
I have a question that probably won't get answered but do the members of the grounds crew ever get to meet or get autographs from the players?
Aidan Fean they are expected to be professional and not ask the players for autographs or treat them like they are fans. It's part of the expectations of the job. They definitely meet the players and are around them but they can't get autographs, not on the job at least.

Grounds work for the fields is lot of work only problem to it your going to have to have patience because it gets really old real fast

@@Cowpoke.503 all 12 guys are not there during long road trips because all that needs to be done is mowing. Sprinklers are automatic and no stripes or infield dirt work needs to be done.

Jackson Roth there's 81 home games and 81 away games for each team and that equals 162 games overall, they get somewhere around 20 days off during the regular season, so they play around 8 of every 9 days
