Thanks for watching this week's video. Visiting Canada after such a long time was a blast. We always love eating all the food when we are in North America. Hope you enjoyed watching! Next week we'll have another video from Nova Scotia so stay tuned! - Brandon & Anja
Ya know you're a true nova scotian when you made poutine last week, ate donair this week, and made oatcakes yesterday 🤣🤣 Gotta love the classics, eh? What a great video with great reviews of the city, I can't wait to see more reviews from you guys! 🇨🇦⛵
Jealous! Haven't been back home since then. But we'll soon be back, and plan to make a few more videos around Canada. We can taste the poutine already! 😂
The taste of home is always nostalgic but I'm extremely envious of you guys trying all of these foods from all around the world. I can recreate foods from different cultures all day but I'm sure that it fails in comparison to the real thing!! That being said, I can't wait to see more of your guys' reviews of Canadian food. There're certainly some fantastic gems here and there 😊💎
It was so great to visit and explore my home province again! It was the first time in several years, and Anja's first time in most of these places. We're headed back soon. Not sure how much we're going to film this time around, but we're excited. Thanks for watching!
Love this one! Being from New England US, many of the foods are the same. Love a lobster roll! The poutine looked amazing, as did the deep fried cheese curds.
It was even better at the time, given how long we had most of those things. We're already looking forward to going back! We're also hoping to do some exploration of the Eastern US some time. Thanks for watching!
That crobster roll looks so good!! Haven't been a huge fan of lobster on its own, but with crab... and that bread!! Also.. definitely want to try a beaver tail. They look huge!
Anja was never much of a lobster fan until this trip, and she had the opportunity to try it again. Now she loves it! The crab was a serious step-up though. It was unreal. 🤤 And you absolutely have to try a beavertale when you make it up to Canada! We would probably recommend something a bit more basic though. Ours was sweet AF. Still delicious though! 😂
There are a lot of restaurants around here. In my experience if you find what looks like a hole in the wall place or a mom and pop shop that’s where you get the best food. When we go out to eat we tend to stay away from any franchise style restaurant, they are generic.
Our favorite thing we had in this video was the Crobster Roll. The Canteen is definitely a local restaurant..and a good one at that! We'd love to go back.
Halifax seems lovely and the food looks amazing! I (Ashley) LOVE pickles, so that saltwater taffy looks right up my alley. 🤣 Great video as always, guys!
It was actually SO GOOD. Hahaha. It tasted like proper dill pickle. We tried a bunch of the other flavors off-camera and they were surprisingly accurate. Thanks for watching, guys! 🍻
We took a look at their website recently, and it looks like it's no longer on the menu! I'd message them first and ask. We've had a few people say they want to go and get one. Maybe due to popular demand, they can bring it back. 😂 It was SO GOOD.
Always love coming home and having all of my old faves! If you haven't had a crobster roll yet - get on it! They brought it back, but just for the summer. So dang good.
Thanks so much for posting, subscribed of course! We are so fortunate to have so many food options in Halifax and Nova Scotia generally! You had me salivating through the whole video and I live here!!! LOL. Equally tasty are all of the International options now as well. Some incredible Syrian, Greek, Indian, Japanese cuisine as well!
It's crazy to me how diverse the food scene has become since I used to live here (its been over 10 years). Even the grocery stores are filled with international food items. The selection is incredible! Thanks for subscribing! We're actually visiting family in Canada now, so we plan on filming a few more videos while we're here (probably Edmonton, Calgary, Banff and Vancouver). It's good to be back. 😃
There’s a few that I didn’t actually know were Nova Scotia particularly the oat cakes and the deep fried pepperoni. Thanks for creating the video. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I’m going to have to check out a couple of places like the Bulwark Brewery and the candy store down in Fishermans Cove.

You can't beat Québec poutine..oh man. We haven't been in forever, but need to go back! What's your favorite place for it? We always love adding new stops to our food bucket list. 😃 We are actually in Canada filming on the West coast now. It'll be a while before those videos come out, but we are looking forward to it.

They're good! Maybe a bit over priced, as you said. Good to share, for sure. The original is the only one that's not overly sweet. Unless you have a major sweet-tooth, a few bite is enough.
There actually is an elegant way to eat a donair. you are supposed to leave it in the tinfoil and eat it like a drumstick and peel away the tinfoil down as you eat it! Glad you enjoyed the good food!
I'm a huge fan of Greek gyros. Learned about CAN Donair few years ago. Researched and Anja is right the meat is spicier. Met a Canadian video lady because of this. Still trying to figure out how to make a small version. Heard of Beaver Tails. Makes me laugh. I'm in Corvallis OR, home of the OSU Beavers. Oatcakes are Scottish and are not sweet. It's a breakfast item. Makes sense they are available in "New Scotland".
A Halifax donair is definitely a lot more similar to the Greek gyro, rather than a Turkish kebab. Makes sense, considering the creator was Greek! The donair sauce is an acquired for sure. Anja didn't get it at all at first. Sweet and garlicky is quite the combo! Those oatcakes needed some tea with them, for sure. We just left Scotland less than two weeks ago, and they love their oats! By that logic, a gyro is just a doner kebab as well. All you've changed are all of the ingredients. Different bread, different meats, different vegetables, and different sauces. Much like a donair.
