Digitakt VS DrumBrute Impact - Workflow Comparison
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 июл 2018
- In todays video we are doing a workflow comparison between the Digitakt and the new DrumBrute Impact. They are very different but a lot of people have been asking me about which one to get. Sound wise not comparable (one sample based one analog) but workflows you can compare.

You sold me both! Thank You!
Did you ever get both? I'm looking at the Digitech or the SP404 right now
Soooo good! I can't express how much I like this jam ^^
Love the DrumBrut Impact. Great price. Hands on. Tweek easily on the fly. Song mode. 64 step sequencer. Polyrhythms. 4 outputs, YES four output for really kool external processing. I am getting one!!!
Bam! ;) Nice video, Bo.
Thank you for making this! I own the DBI but am trying to decide if the Digitakt is going to work for me. This really helped me understand how the digitakt worked in the context of the DBI so this video was absoulutely perfect for me. Thank you!
great vid thanks renews my faith in.my digi
The IMP along side the Digitak compliment each other very well. I use the Drumbrute ORIG with a Novation Circuit and the both compliment each other perfectly. I can see the IMP and the Digitak as another great beat making combination
seems like a perfect combo
Seems more like best buds than vs.
In the end, they set aside their differences and lived happily ever after ;-)
Lovely groove at the start ^-^
Had me laughing when that vocal sample was tripping out at 4:13 😆
Dang it, Bo! All you've managed to do is show me that a Digitakt is exactly what I've been looking for! Haha!
Good demo comparison. In a way, this was like comparing a Ferrari (Digitakt) to a Fiat (Impact). Also, you are so skilled on Elektron gear that they should pay you to demo them at trade shows. Overall, the Impact seems like a decent, entry-level drum machine. The tweakability of the Impact reminds me of my Moog DFAM, which I really enjoy.
John Irby please Arturia is French. At least say Citroen!
And elektron is Swedish, so Koenigsegg not Ferrari..
Digikat is not analog is a shit
Great video... Tbh if I wasn't a part of the broke squad. I'd own both of these machine.
Quite Dj Shdowesque stuff... Nice
Did you have a chance to compare Electribe with Digitakt? I own Electribe but find the interface to be inconvenient and thinking of a replacement. Digitakt costs significantly more, but I'm not sure whether it gives that much of an advantage.
Yes I bought both of the units. However I sold both to buy the Akai MPC Live 2 and Akai Professional MPX X and WoW fun to work on.
I would like to see you combine the Impact with the Novation Mono Circuit... lot of interesting possibilities there(especially for improv/live), for less than the cost of a Digitakt. Add a Volca FM to the Arturia/Novation combo and you are at about the price of a Digitakt - with lots of live control!
The juxtaposition between that DB and that saxophone sample are oddly and unexpectedly complimentary. Interest sound.
You could be onto a winner with that one. Make sure you finish the track.
Maybe you have to compare Electron model cycle vs drumbrute impact. More interesting I presume 🤔
So, surely this is more Digitakt *plus* Drumbrute, rather than 'vs' - it's not a competition... ;-)
Booooooring
Pffft... You and your clickbait titles... ;-)
Tsss it is a Workflow Vs ;-)
DrumBrute Impact for me I love that machine
nice arp braahhh
Hey Man! I am on fence for DBrute or ModelCycle....choices choices hope you and family are well.
Cycle gets my vote. But... Its more a question wether you want an FM based groovebox or analog drum machine with rough sound
@@BoBeats Drums.
Arturia finally improved the snare... that intrigues me
Sadly the hats are still unusable though, It's a deal killer for me.
That's the problem with analog drum machines. Your options for shaping the stock sounds are kinda limited so if you don't like them, there's not a huge amount you can do to fix them.
I think this one sounds better than the original Drumbrute and the FM drum was a clever way to get a more tweakable sound.
the tinniest hats ever
In my opinion if you gave one person a digitakt and one person a drumbrute the digitakt would win 9/10 times. Then again they are way different devices. Although the limitations of the drum brute probably make it a go to instrument for the rhythm section in a mix. Its hard to compare a sampler that is only limited by your imagination and a drum machine that has some flexibility. To weary buyers of the digitakt I find it worth every penny.
The winners might surprise you!
It's us, we get cool sounds
A better comparison would be the Digitech versus the Roland SP404 versus this because that's a sampler in the other ones a DRUM MACHINE 😬
Thanks for the video but this is like comparing Gold to water
1:1 controls
separate outputs
1/3 the price
no menu diving
Vs
sampler
multi midi channel sequencer
3 x the cost
menu diving
probably a closer Vs would be a digitak Vs a MPC live
or a drumbrute impact Vs tr-8
Who knows... we might see that on this channel as well ;-)
I picked the Digitakt, and I have no regrets about it. It may cost twice as much, but it does about a zillion times more, and is quite capable for making entire songs instead of just doing drums. For an example of a song made using the Digitakt, look for "Easy Does It" on my channel, which is currently my most recent video. Five-part harmony plus eight drum tracks.
I been looking for something like the digitakt for a long time and I will check out your channel to see some videos
I needed a decent drum machine and a song-length multitrack MIDI sequencer, and the Digitakt delivered. I may have a few little complaints about it, but overall it's great.
FWIW, my complaints about it are some missing MIDI features, like it doesn't record automation at a high enough time resolution and it doesn't pass mod wheel through from keyboards to synths... and also, it completely fails to implement standard protocols like USB storage and USB audio, instead requiring proprietary "Overbridge" BS for those functions. Also, patterns should really be able to be longer than 64 steps. But if I pretend it's not PC-compatible at all, and if I don't need to sequence control data like pitch bend and mod wheel , it's otherwise very nice. I just kind of feel like stabbing someone at Elektron whenever I think about their decision to artificially cripple basic storage and audio functionality. So I try not to think about that.
It's kind of an unfair comparison since the Digitakt is a very flexible sampler while the Impact is made to have 1:1 controls for drum synthesis and programming.
Perhaps this video is meant for people that are tipping their toes in the world of drum machines, but you'd be better off comparing the Digitakt with an MPC or Maschine.
The Impact does match well with the Digitakt. Would definitely be fun for performances for sure!
Yeah... I sort of state your first sentance almost immediately don’t I ;-)
BoBeats You absolutely did, I did catch that! But I felt like rephrasing that in my own comment to emphasise it anyway. Comparing machines that are more like each other makes more sense to me.
You did a great video showing the features of each machine here, so people that are wondering what kind of machine they should go for are at the right place with this video :)
Thanks Jim! Glad my message got across. Comparisons are difficult it seems since people might take them the wrong way :)
Not understanding the point of comparing a drum machine to a sampler.
Love the sound of the drumbrute impact, its so alive and different. Digitakt sounds clinical and clean, not my flavour
Price is the biggest difference between these two machines.
next time matrixbrute vs volca kick ^^ almost the same thing.....just kidding...they make a very good pair for a small size setup !
Way ahead of you! Volca bass and Matrixbrute coming up!!!!! ;-) j/k
Kkkk
I have better!
Schmidt Eightvoice Synthesizer to a Meeblip Anode... LOL !
Schmidt : ruclips.net/video/X0AIVPrGEBI/видео.html
Meeblip ruclips.net/video/oCTIOmKHs00/видео.html
and do not laugh, technologically, it's already closer. Finally more than compare a Digitart to a DrumBrute ... LOL
You compared two totally different things. (Not same price, not same technologie, not same work flow)
serves, 2 drum machines, but diametrically different in their aproche (digital / analog, Orthodox drum machine, or groovbox type).
It's like comparing a Coke to a Bier ....
Generally we compare a Coke to a Pepsy or Budweiser to a Heineken ...
Compare rather with analog drum of this price game
For example, Arturia drum lite with Behringer 808, Cyclon TT-606 / TT-78, Tanzbar Lite ... etc ...
Same think for the Digitakt, (although its either a UFO) can be with a Roland TR-S ...
yeah you are right, been thinking about doing like a groovebox comparison or a drum machine comparison with a bunch of machines.
Impact vs Digitakt is like man vs car, the car wins every time.
Only in a race :-) but if we say ”what is best for the environment” or ”what is most fun” we get different results.
BoBeats it's a Rick and Morty reference.
:-( I am so out of touch with what the cool kids watch
BoBeats well..... you seem happy so...😆😎
Drumbrute is an analog drum machine with incredible value for the money.
TR-8S over everything
lol
779 euros vs 299 euros 🤔
Makes for a good partner tho!
If you're a student I totally understand your post. Yet if you work and have disposable income, buying what you need/want is the way to go instead of just go for the cheapest option.
Been a student myself and know how frustrating it can be that gear is expensive (yet it never has been so cheap).
But put the Digitakt a bit into perspective, it is a drum machine, sequencer, sampler as has several synth parameters that can be edited, basicly a mini MPC.
I love your content since a while! But please stop using the sample on track 3 it looks like you put it in every composition and it is so dissonant and out of nowhere and so "pointless"
Anyway love on you! ;)
Good point
