lol tell em Ken…like I told you before I moved away about 8-9 years ago after living there my whole life(I’m 42). My mom still lives in Longwood and she says i4 is ridiculous, I don’t even want to know because it was bad when I left. When I worked for the magic from 04-13 I lived in the Solaire and downtown traffic was so bad then I can’t imagine what it’s like now. You da man KP, you know I love your channel. You keep me connected to my roots! Mad respect for waking up to strangers and interviewing them, it’s not easy.
I drive and live in London/UK. Visited Florida few times now and traffic is really okay compared to London. Once you get stuck there is nothing you can do or turn. 🤷🏼♀️. Just saying 😊
So by your own admission, you live somewhere other than Florida, yet you're going to pontificate to US? Yep. You sound like a Bonafide Californian. "I don't actually live there...but here are MY worthless-ass two cents".
When they lady mentioned Haines City, I cringed. I know all about the growth there. It has blown up in the last few years and continues to boom. Love our area still though. Love you Ken! Been watching since just about Day 1! Glad to see you still going strong. We are about to hit 4K subs later this month. Need Sunrail to expand to Polk County ASAP but no further studies needed. Saying 2035 target date. I will be retired then! Or at least very close!
I’m torn on this as someone born and raised in FL. The more demand for housing increases our equity but then on the flip side I’m seeing some friends and family unable to find affordable housing. As the population increases, more businesses move in which increases jobs and fun things to do. That also increases the traffic and crowds schools as it’s growing faster than the infrastructure can keep up. Bottom line is that it depends on the lifestyle you want and what you can afford. If you want a rural, lower cost of living area you’ll have to move further inland or out of State. Nothing stays the same forever and change comes with growing pains.
I watched San Diego Ca go from 1.5 million to 3.2 million. Orange county Fl has 1.4 million now, just wait 20 years and it be just like San Diego is now, destroyed.
Come to Polk County, to a small town, and ask those questions. We will tell you what we think about the Orlando area and the crowds, traffic and the growth. You will find plenty of Florida natives that will give you honest answers.
The lady from Huntersville, just north of Charlotte, is absolutely right. I'm from Cornelius, which is the next town up, and you have to wait through a couple of light cycles just to get through some intersections up here, and the interstate is nearly stopped during rush hour. The up and coming areas around Orlando just need to plan their infrastructure proactively and then it shouldn't be a huge issue when more people move down.
I grew up in South Charlotte and settled in North Charlotte after college. Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson are currently identical to what was happening in South Charlotte when I was a teenager. It will only get worse. I got some land on the lake 7-8 years ago for 5 figures though so I’ll put up with pretty much anything to stay here 😂
@@user-lp9ye1po3w you got one heck of a deal. But yeah, they just don't have the infrastructure to handle what's here, let alone what all the new large developments the town boards have approved. But everyone wants to move here. We just got a nice price for our house here in Cornelius and are looking forward to our move down to Groveland next month. My family and I left the great State of Texas to move to Florida! The experience has been great! The beauty of the state never gets old! If you are considering a move, I would highly recommend working with Ken and his team!
We moved here from West Virginia in 2012. Traffic is getting worse every year but I very seldom complain because I know that we are part of the problem.

I didn’t see you interview a single Floridian…being born and raised in Winter Haven, Fl. I’ve seen the population explode and nature destroyed, clogged highways, stupid neighborhoods for snowbirds that only get used half the year, we don’t like to share because transplants don’t appreciate what makes Florida unique…swamps drained, orange grooves no longer standing….it sucks just to make more houses for more transplants…..have you seen what people do to Panama City, Destin, or Daytona Beach during spring break….perfect example of why there’s resentment toward people who don’t live here…trash it, rinse, repeat……there’s a love for the state if you’re from here that one can’t explain, transplants will never understand that…you’re interviews seem one sided also….next time maybe get some Floridians over 50 like myself who’ve seen all the changes…bet you don’t get the same answers….
The problem isn’t the number of people; it’s the number of cars. Improving mass transit and increasing housing density over building new developments would improve the quality of life in Orlando.
I walk on the winter park strip daily I missed you I would have like to be in the interview. I am from a big city the traffic here is not even close to big city. We have lots of room for people and cars compared to big cities.
What’s the reason so many homes listed so soon after being purchased? Is it like the tulip bulb mania in Holland? 9163 Pine Ridge Trl. Sold March of 2023 for $933k, listed for $1.35M.
Halfway through and haven't seen one local interviewed, they are all newbies..... Here are a lot if our ussues that locals see happening. Our beautiful natural landscape is being destroyed to build cookie cutter condos and homes, traffic is insane, it has destroyed the housing market both to buy and rent with outrageous inflated prices and so much more. These are real issues that only locals truly understand and are concerned about. Disappointing interview.
Great video format! My family moved to central Florida 22 years ago. We have seen both pros and cons to people moving here . I would never say “stop moving here” but I will say the city needs to handle the affordability crisis especially the homeless. Everyone deserves housing !
We live in California and i really wanted to move to Florida but my husband didnt like the lower wages regarding his work so we stayed its crazy expensive here to buy a home we couldn't afford a regular home so we're waiting on a low income home thats hopefully getting built this year hopefully we get one but i grew up in Altamonte Springs Florida so my heart is still there and Omg they sell empanadas there im sad im not there😢
Hi Ken! I’ve been following your channel for years. My dream is to move to Orlando because of Disney and all amazing things to do there. A bit less than 2 years until my husband graduates from his doctorate and hopefully we will make the move there. I will be reaching out regarding homes when the time comes!🙏
Here are my thoughts on this: 1 - Don't move here thinking things are cheaper - your insurance will be higher, groceries will be higher (if you shop at Publix), and you will spend much more time in your car getting to places than you think. Yes, we have no state income tax but we have sales tax on pretty much everything except food. 2 - Don't move here solely because you love Disney and want to be close to it - look, I get it, its a magical place, but life happens. You will work a full week, your kids will have school and extracurricular activities, you will need to run errands, etc. Think about your life now and what you do in your free time that isn't vacation. Do you have a lot of time where you are bored? Well, then it might work out. If you find yourself running around, completing errands, doing laundry on the weekend, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, etc. all these things still exist here. Same goes for the beach - if you live along the coast, you can make time I'm sure, but inland and it will be a trip to the beach and realistically, you 3 - Think about your work status and what happens if you aren't making the same amount of money should you need to change jobs. Pay here for white collar jobs is likely lower than where you are coming from and while you may bring your job with you, what happens if you need to find a job locally? 4 - Can you tolerate bugs / snakes / lizards / reptiles / spiders? We have a lot of these...pretty much all year long. You will find a big roach in your house from time to time (they hide in the space along the door seal and drop in when you open the door) and a couple lizards will make it in too. The roaches fly too which is fun.. 5 - We don't have food like wherever you are from - come to this realization soon enough and please don't complain that something was better somewhere else - the response will be "Well, why don't you go back?" or "95 North solves that problem" 6 - People are cliquey...they tend to form tight little packs within their respective neighborhoods and try to run things and bully those that don't go along with them - the pandemic set this up nicely since everyone got to know their neighbors a lot better than they would have without a pandemic 7 - On the inverse to 6, people don't know their neighbors if they don't go along with the cliques - people are much more reserved and keep to themselves typically and it is even more the case if people don't have children that forces interactions with other families with kids 8 - HOAs - there are pros and cons but if you aren't used to having your property scrutinized and you getting fined for something you feel is innocuous, look for a non-HOA home
I think it’s a free country and live wherever makes you happy. I moved here just before Covid from NY because I hated the long cold winters. It’s definitely a lot more expensive than when I first moved here and doubt I would have been able to move here in the current financial market.
We moved to Kissimmee in 2004. It has gotten more people here. We moved around. We moved to celebration. It was a great place for the family. Until there was no room in the high school. We then moved to moss park by lake Nona. Cause my daughter went to path. We were from nyc. We went here on our honeymoon in 2003. We love it. My son was born in celebration hospital. We love the diversity here. Enjoy people sharing their culture and heritage. There is still plenty of room here.
Is it true the homeowner’s insurance is super high? What would it be for a 3000 sq foot home that is a new construction (which means, roof, electric, and plumbing is new). I understand it would be an estimate. This would be for an Orlando home not a house by the coast. TIA
I moved to Miami / South Florida in 2008 and it was so cheap, waaay before all these new people decided to move here for COVID. Ya'll missed out! it was way nicer before COVID. I bought a house in the Palm Beach area for 205K in 2010... its now going for 650K! Again, ya'll came way too late!
i got to live in Floridosky back in jan 1999 everything changed a lot since then specially prices and all things been much much expensive, cost of living dont match the low wages here. and top of that overcrowded
Wanna see bad traffic? Go to NJ. The parkway was more like a parking lot. Yes, there’s a lot of traffic here but it is always moving. It’s never a complete stop unless it’s a long ass red light lol
Question? We're considering moving to Winter Garden from out of state, and we keep hearing that homeowners insurance has gone thru the roof in Florida. Is this true in the Orlando area or is it a coastal issue? Orlando is obviously less vulnerable than coastal cities to hurricanes, does this reflect in the cost of insurance?
Florida is not what it use to be anymore. Yes lots of people are moving in each year and they think it's great but Ive been a Floridian all my life and I miss the Florida from before, the one with barely any traffic, nature in abundance, no crowds, theme parks that were almost empty in low peak seasons, the parks were more enjoyable for locals, friendlier people, way less crime, better education because teachers weren't so overwhelmed with school crowds, less pollution. The knocking down of nature to build more apartments, more hotels more theme parks. Yes it brings jobs and tourism which it always had when it was peak season and then everyone went back to their homes and the state was for the locals again. Now we locals don't have anything left for us because we have to adapt like if we were tourists pay tourists prices and everything has gone up for us as well.
Winter Park is the best looking neighborhood/city in Central Florida. It's even more beautiful than Celebration. Yes I said it and I'm not taking it back. I live in Lake Nona (Laureate Park) which is more affordable and is beautiful as well. Also as a native Floridian, I do miss old Florida.
Driving and finding parking in Winter Park should be a level of hell in Dante's Inferno. Been here for the past 35 years and as a winter park HS graduate, I always found WP to be overrated.
winter park is garbage - infested with crime coming from downtown orlando and the "mom and pop" shops overcharging people. Laureate Park, on the other hand, gorgeous area. Love it.
The first guy was from NY i know him I'm in NY.. i've been saying the same thing. i wish people would stop moving here and for gods sake say off of LI. DURING THE SUMMER.
If you are liberal or progressive then Tavares FL and specifically the Royal Harbor community in Tavares is best! Lots of us democrats waiting here to welcome you home!
I wasn't born in Florida, but I'm not a communist.. if you are, please stay in your cold, high-tax, high-crime, democrat sh*thole.. please. @@Michorida
You can’t tell others to stop coming to Florida. What if the native Americans told the settlers to stop coming to America. Where would we all be now? Now, the real question is who is a 100% Floridian? Everyone in Florida is a transplant from some where else. We love Florida. The property tax is great. The weather is perfect except the rainy summers. I wished someone told me that the sunshine state was wet in the summer. Orlando need more reliable public transportation to help with the traffic. The sunrail is great and also the bright line is okay. But we need a rail line that goes across the state east to west. The one thing that we hated about being a resident in celebration was the holiday time traffic is horrible. Halloween and Christmas time are a nightmare for us. The traffic getting home took longer than normal. Cause all the visitors are here.
The native Americans did tell the pilgrims to stop coming because they were bringing foreign diseases LOL. In fact the Indians have been warring with them for 200 years as a result until they were decimated.
That natives were also killing each-other for thousands of years before the white man came and fought over territory against each-other so sort of a moot point. @@Michorida
Well everything comes with a price...more trains, more buildings more housing, more city like building...more traffic, more crowdness. Less knocking down of trees to build, less city like life...less crowdness, less traffic.
I love when the people from the East Coast move to southwest Florida because it’s laid-back and then they bring their aggressive, self-serving attitude and driving style and then wonder why most Floridians don't want them here. Contrary to their beliefs, Florida is not better because they are here. If you want the truth, ask people in the service industry. They will really let you know how downhill it’s gone since the East Coast and California people have arrived.

Because of the horrific traffic I moved close to work, it made all the difference. I love living here
Traffic is insane here in orlando lol
As bad as it is in Union City,NJ?
As bad as Washington DC?
As bad as Manhattan NY?
Traffic is consistently heavy, I wouldn't say its insane. I would say Atlanta, NYC, and Washington-Baltimore areas are insane.
Winter park strip on a friday or saturday night is all tourist and locals that do not live in the area. Sidewalks are very busy those days.
People who think Florida's traffic is bad are delirious it takes me 35 min to go 4.7 miles in Sacramento California.
I agree! I just moved from the DC area and FL traffic is a joke compared to that.
The thing is americans are used to bad traffic, so going to a place where traffic is slightly less bad is understood as good traffic.

This what's so funny. ( I moved to Florida ) LOL. I'm part of the problem hahaha

6 - People are cliquey...they tend to form tight little packs within their respective neighborhoods and try to run things and bully those that don't go along with them - the pandemic set this up nicely since everyone got to know their neighbors a lot better than they would have without a pandemic
7 - On the inverse to 6, people don't know their neighbors if they don't go along with the cliques - people are much more reserved and keep to themselves typically and it is even more the case if people don't have children that forces interactions with other families with kids
8 - HOAs - there are pros and cons but if you aren't used to having your property scrutinized and you getting fined for something you feel is innocuous, look for a non-HOA home

Love it.

I'd be curious to know how many people leave Fl.
2 years and counting till the move and I really don’t care if you like it or not. I’ll be paying my taxes and will be a great neighbor
Hopefully you watched the video. Excited to have new neighbors every day 🙌🏽
At today's housing prices I am surprised that anyone still moves to Florida.
The first guy was from NY i know him
I'm in NY.. i've been saying the same thing. i wish people would stop moving here and for gods sake say off of LI. DURING THE SUMMER.
Everyday is not in a theme park
How many people move out of Florida daily?
Well…here we come Florida ! 😎
🥳🥳🥳
move here i own lots of homes and need renters and maybe one day i be worth a million dollars
If you are liberal or progressive then Tavares FL and specifically the Royal Harbor community in Tavares is best! Lots of us democrats waiting here to welcome you home!
Florida is closed. Please no one move there. It reached its legal limit.
I’m moving there soon and if you weren’t born in Florida you have no right to complain 😂
If you are a lefty you should stay in your Sh*ithole you created.. not go ruined somewhere else@@Michorida
The natives did tell settlers to stop coming to America. The settlers took america😂
You do realize that an elderly state like Florida needs thousands of people moving in every day or the population will drop.
You didn’t watch the video.
It’s not full it just has tourist cuz of Disney
LMAO!! We'll be next in about 3-5yrs. lol
Us michiganders are nice😂
@@Michorida Actually most of the ones that I’ve met are. That’s why Sarasota and the gulf coast used to be so friendly and a great place to be.
👍
Not for nothing, I moved here from NY it's not all that's it's cracked up to be.
I wish I could afford to move to FL 😩😩😢😢😂😂
Too late, I’m already here, lol.
No freaking way we’re moving back to Missouri. 😅
And, soon to be underwater...
Massive hurricanes are coming 😮
Believe it...
YES!!!!! FLORIDA IS AWFUL!!! DON'T MOVE HERE!!!!! 😇
Il be there soon
What do “locals” expect? It’s the nicest state in the Us there is beaches endless to do etc….of course ppl will want to relocate there! 😂
Only People that live in Fl for over 10 years are aloud to say that, if not you are part of the problem.

I wonder if ANYYYYYY of the naysayers about people moving to Florida were.....NATIVE AMERICANS????
In conclusion: women do most of the talking
