Passing the toll without paying makes them angry, but some are more or less aggressive than others, willing to forgive some slights or not. Some are also followers towards more dominating scavs, and are likely to act in accordance to how the leader does. A non agressive leader can restrain their tribe to some degree So there are new benevolent and malevolent tribes.
Something's super satisfying about this vid, it just boils down that tragedy-to-revenge plotline in an emotionally impactful and fun-to-listen-to package. It feels like the scav is lecturing Artificer like a Karen in the first bit, and then Arti's bit is her mocking the Scavengers likewise.

I completely and fully associate this song with artificer, I had this animation looping as I did her playthrough and now every time I hear it I think of this video. Even though I'm studying Japanese and know that it's about burnt bread, my brain still imagines this video. Who knows, perhaps arti burnt the bread with her explosive ability.
I won't lie scavs are my absolute most hated enemy, I give nothing but kindness such as 5 pearls, or any time I saw em I gave a pearl, they'd stab me in the back, and no I was never artificer nor caused any damage to them I even helped some of them in fights yet they always liked to throw a spear at me for absolutely no reason so every run every character I must attack scavs
I don't think the scavangers would cry about the dead king, by the fact they immediately accepted her as the new leader they seem to have a hierarchical society where the strong rule over the weak, and since the old king was defeated it's only logical she was simply more superior and this deserving of the new title.
And arti is a wanted criminal who slaughtered the scavengers. I think no matter how much the scavengers respect the system, they will not really accept a murderer from a foreign race. Arti is undoubtedly a tyrant
The reason for my idea is very simple. If arti does not wear a mask, he will still be attacked by scavengers. The mask of the king is a symbol and a deterrent, but it does not mean that the scavengers accept arti. :3

I've always wondered about this, if supposedly scavengers and slugcats can't die because of the lore and just come back the next cycle, why is the slugpup permanently dead, and why does killing the leader of the scavengers matter? Wouldn't artificer just be permanently locked into a never ending fight to the never ending death with the scavengers for the rest of time? Or is that not how it works
My assumption to this is that there are paralelle (ugh how do i even spell this) universes, when you die the other creatures see you as dead but in your perspective you come alive again, everytime you die you go to a parallel universe where you just woke up, again, everyone else in your previous cycle still thinks you are dead, although, this theory doesnt make much sense because the ancients wouldnt have thought that death is a endless cycle but its just a theory. A GAME THEORY
Everything has its own separate cycle. When the slugpups died and Arti survived, they weren't apart of Arti's cycle anymore. Although they'll wake up with the same Arti they knew, Arti won't wake up with their slugpups
I like the theory that after dying people are reincarnated in a new body with only vague memories of the past, so when Arti's kids die they do eventually come back, but as basically wholly different people. They might not even be slugcats anymore. This also conveniently explains why the self-destruction taboo needed to be installed in the iterators, dying for them would equate to abandoning their cause, as it frees themselves from working on the Great Problem. I prefer this to the idea of alternate timelines as it explains how the Cycle's existence is an undeniable fact for everyone, everybody remembers having past lives. In the alternate timeline scenario only one person per timeline would know about the Cycle, the person who's death created the timeline, and it would be impossible for them to prove it to anyone.
Has anyone thought that since Artis “nightmares” are simply dreams the events that happened in those dreams might not be exactly what actually happened? For instance, maybe a scav was trying to hit a enemy but accidentally hit the pup, and maybe when doing a bomb jump over the water she accidentally dropped her pup, and her rage and grief twisted her perception of what actually happened causing her to believe it was the scavs fault?
Damn! Arti's normal story was already extremely tragic, sad and depressing. Now you want to add a "Hey, I think I imagined something wrong" as she goes on a pointless killing spree.
