      @@garywarner9388 you right on this one, this was a genius, I would love to see the modern day players we have, go on RUclips and emulate Lara's style of batting. The he places the ball, the way he gets behind the ball, our players don't have footwork and they are scared of the short balls!!

    Renford Pinnock, Robin Bynoe, Larry Gomes, Timur Mohammed, Lokhart Sabastian ,Peter Lashley ,Charlie Davis , Roy Fredricks ,Joe Solomon, Stephens Comacho and wicketkeepers Michael Finley and Jeffreys Dugeon , just to name a few ,were also good elegant West Indies players in their own identities and styles ,even Irving Shillingford .Yes i do agree that Lawerence Rowe was class act and I agree completely with all on your list , but where is the boss , Sir Clive Lloyd and Desmond Haynes and Richie Richardson.Sir Frank Worrell ,Everton Weeks and Clide Walcott should have made that list too. The former Shell Shield cricket and Red Stripe games produced many talented cricketers in the past .

      Awesome, thanks for your contribution. You completely agree with all on my list plus the additional names means highlighting 10 may not have been enough. I concur. The region is so blessed with batting stylists. Certainly, if I had highlighted 30, some people would still mention other names. That is how rich our cricketing legacy is. What is good is that by putting the subject forward, we can have a nice discussion and remember our cricketers who have blessed us with their talents. Thank you for the names that you have added to the discussion.

    Alvin Kallicharan for me was the most elegant batsman I ever saw.
    Alvin just oozed class.
    Rowe, Greenidge, Kanhai, Richards, Sobers and Kallicharan, I had the pleasure of seeing them all play.
    All greats in their own right.
    The list is very impressive, keep up the good work.

    Persons commenting dont seem to understand what is meant by "batting stylist". It is not necessarily the greatest batsman but the ones who are most attractive to watch in terms of classic technique, grace, elegance and artistry. Rowe was the best. His videos were being used in the Australian cricket academy to train their young batsmen. Quite a shame that West Indies admin did not see fit to preserve tapes of these greats for future generations of cricketers.

Even Sir Donald Bradman faltered against body line bowling... but not Sir Richards... The swagger in his walk to the crease sent shivers up the spine of the fastest bowlers of the world... it was like saying, "Come on you little ones... know that you have to bowl to Vivian.." It was arrogance personified, but that was true... they bowled body line balls and were swatted to the ropes and over the ropes...

    • @legalimmigrantz
      @legalimmigrantz 2 года назад +1

      @@jahno7154 He hurled a brick into the crowd seriously injuring a fan in Multan in '81 and got suspended even though he had been selected ahead of Holding for the England tour of 80/81. He was also part of the infamous 'cursed' South Africa rebel tours 82/83 and 83/84 along with Colin Croft, Kallicharan, Rowe and others, they were all ostracised for it. None of them played many tests after that.

    • @legalimmigrantz
      @legalimmigrantz 2 года назад +3

      @@jahno7154 "Viv Richards claimed Clarke was the only bowler he did not feel comfortable batting against, David Gower and Imran Khan stated that Clarke was by far the fastest man they ever faced, Geoff Boycott said Clarke "scared me silly", and in the mid-1980s Garry Sobers wrote that Clarke was "the quickest and most hostile fast bowler now playing in world cricket".
      Clarke was not shy of delivering balls patently designed to scare opposing batsmen and make them look foolish, and was regularly capable of a perfect bouncer, which having pitched then cut away sharply to follow the path of a batsman's head as he swayed away from it. Though a popular, affable and laconic personality off the pitch, Clarke had a quick temper on the field and regarded the battle between batsman and bowler as a personal trial of strength and character. Alan Kourie recalls that Clarke, during the unofficial West Indies 1983 rebel tour, recorded speeds between 98 mph and 101 mph by two South African police officers testing out a new automobile speed radar gun who were present at Johannesburg ground."

Because you are entitled to your own beliefs, because when you are comparing Lara with Tendulkar. The world will think that you are very, very crazy. Because Tendulkar into a class by himself,he is A and Lara is in B class.I would like this blogger to differentiate, between the two batsmen. Who is the batter and more reliable batsman, because Tendulkar is the only batsman in international cricket. That scored 100 centuries, compared to Lara with 53 centuries and. Tendulkar scored 34,000 international runs compared to Lara with 22,000 runs. This blogger is suffering from some mental health problem, because there is no comparison here.That is why the WI cricket is under the cellar over the years, because they packed the team. With a lot of inconsistent batsmen from Barbados, so the team will never improve, until they stop the biasness. Against certain players,it is not who you likes. It is who can go out there on game day and performed, for the team.In any form of sports,it is performances that counts,it is not who likes you at all, ok.

    When you hear foolishness about elegant players and,does not have any form of runs. To compensate for their careers, ratings does not go by production anymore. It is who those journalist really likes, away from Lara , and Chanderpaul who played more test matches than Gayle. Gayle is the only WI batsman in the history of cricket,to centuries in all formats and. Having the 2nd highest in hundreds next to Lara, the only WI batsman to scored double hundred in ODI. Gayle and Lara is the only two WI batsmen to scored two triple hundreds in test cricket,so sometimes. When you hear some of those bloggers is talking their nonessentical arguments, you know that. They does not understand the intricacies of the games at all, because is only batsmen with good techniques. Can scores two triple hundreds in test cricket and, Sobers also Rowe is, the other two batsmen to scored triple hundreds in test cricket. I have watched all the players them you are talking about, over the years and. I don't really see none of them better than Chris Gayle at all.Because I don't really see VIv Richards having any form of techniques at all, I don't know. But for some strange reasons, they are over rating Viv Richards and. He have nothing to show as records, comparing to Chris Gayle as the longest opener for the WI team. Even Dujon is a far more elegant players than Desmond Haynes and Greenidge, also Viv Richards. Elegance does not determined the quality of a player at all,it the amount of runs. That one scores during their career playing for the WI team, how you are going to equates. A player as Gayle with almost 20,000 runs with Sobers only have 8,032 runs, and 24 hundreds.I don't know how this blogger or, his analyst come by their determination. About the top players them with the best techniques, I guessed. That some people is very much confused, about style and techniques together. Also this person should understand about average, that the person with the highest average. That doesn't proved the abilities of the batsman, because average most based on the amount of not out is . Going to give the batsmen a better average, than the batsmen with less not out.Because they are going to divided the amount of innings,by runs and. The man with the most not out,he is going to have a higher number to divide with. So he is going to have a higher average than the other batsmen, even though you may scored the most runs in the competition.But because some people does not understand the intricacies about average, they always elaborating about average. Because they does not know how to work it out,so you haveto see with some people.I know that you have some cyber bullies out there, who does not understand the intricacies about cricket. So they are going to get emotional about my comment, because they does not understand the intricacies of the games. I am not afraid of intimidation or criticism, because everyone have the right. To expressed themselves about certain scenarios,but assumptions and facts is two different things.One is perception and the other one is reality, what really happened.During the games of play, so you cannot denied it at all. I will stand by and hopeful, to get some silly responses.

      Sir Boyd, this video is not about technique but style and aesthetics. There are many other West Indians who could make the list. The word 'Top Ten' was never mentioned.
