update - I bought the tonor tc777 based of your review on it. I did however watch about 10 other reviews but after watching yours I had my mind made up. it has yet to disappoint me. thank you for a straight to it honest review you saved me a lot of money and you allowed me to get a great microphone for cheap price.
I thought it was mad that this video was just in the suggestions as I just treated myself to a shiny new Tonor TC-30 for a cool £16 delivered from Ebay. I haven't long started my own RUclips channel and based on my current budget, the TC30 was the one that jumped out at me. Despite your preference to the TC777, I think you sounded better through the TC30, for which I'm pleased for my purchase. Your comparison video was well constructed, and I actually enjoyed watching this video. Keep up with your good work 😊
Dude, this review just blew my mind, I watched the comparison of 4 mics you did also but I think my budget fits this 2 options, now that I've heard them better my conclusions are that the TC 777 might sound better on a different voice tone, I found yours annoying after a while, however when you talked on the TC30 it felts like and ASMR sensation, which I like better lol , thank you for taking the time to make this content!
I was looking for a comparison between these two mics, and your video is EXCEPTIONALLY helpful. I'd bought the TC-777 on Prime Day and it just arrived, but it's recording at an extremely low level even though it's maxed out. Searching around, a lot of people seem to have that trouble. Were you able to boost the level at all? I do really love the sound quality on the TC-777, but since the TC-30 records higher, I'm going to get that one and see if it works better for me. Again, thanks for the most helpful video!
Hi Tim, just wondering, are you using this mic to record or stream? I'm not sure what kind of options there are for streaming, but if you are recording to some kind of recording program, you could put a gain plugin on the track to boost your level
I'm only here because I accidentally bought the tc777 instead of the tc30. But since I got WAY more information than I needed and can sleep with a happy mind, you just earned a sub. Thank you so much for the 5 star review! I agree that the tc777's audio quality sounds more clear and fluent, although the tc30 is also really good. In the US right now, on amazon the tc777 is 5 dollars cheaper.
As a karaoke host - I have found that with any mic - they work best when they are pointed at your mouth, but your mouth is not facing directly at the mic. Talk or sing at a slight angle to the mic. That avoids pops and still gives plenty of volume. Thanks for the good review. I just ordered the TC-30.
Yes, Tc777 sounds better but i prefere Tc30 for its cable and form, althou the voulume of recording, the sounds is not much worse and we could compensate with a bit of post production or using OBS
I think the TC777 sounds more natural. The TC30 sounds good too, but it's a little deeper (like it has more built in bass). Also, use a gold plated high data transfer USB extension cable for the 777 if length is an issue. That's what I did and it's not picking up any weird interference noise. :) If you can use a boom stick instead of the mini tripod, bring it closer to your face and lower the mic volume range by about 5% to 10%, depending on your loudness and the vocal quality sounds even richer with even less background noise. Honestly, for the price you pay (I got it for 26.99), its a pretty nice mic. I use the 777 when playing Apex Legends with my friends, hah. Sounds way better than my previous headset mic. :P Thanks for the upload!
Awesome work. I have been reviewing countless affordable USB mics for voiceovers on training videos I am putting together as well as for YT videos. It's hard to really know what to expect from budget mics when starting out. Your video has nailed it, no messing or technical jargon, straight up review with awesome comparison between the two. Think TC30 for me.
I have to admit that this is a great video for comparision. After listening very carefully, even I felt the TC-777 is so clear but TC-30 has recorded with a bit more volume. Do you also have a video for TC777Pro, because now I see that also came up in the market 😉😉
Hi there, EXCELLENT work here with the video, it's EXACTLY what I was looking for. To me, TC30 it's more enjoyable , but 777 sounds more crystal clear than the 30 one, which is more focused on noise reduction but cutting off high freq.. Do you think I can rid of the high pitch noise of the 777 with a simple noise reduction plug-in through OBS software?
Do you feel the audio level is too soft and bringing it up introduces a lot of noise? I got one and it's really soft, I thought this was only a problem with mics that require phantom power.
Dear Mr. Tobias Holenstein, I watched your RUclips for several time. I really like this video about microphone comparison. But, please may you help me? I am not an English native speaker while I have little knowledge about audio editing. You did mentioned 1) 6:49 // Cleaner Audio. Sorry to ask. What does it mean? 2)7:31 // Noise Floor. What does it mean? 3) Cable // Is it possible? If I use the longer cable to replace the original cable of TC-777. Can I do that? 4) In your pesonal opinion, in the future, will the world replace USB-B with USB-C, for microphone connection? Thank you very much.
Yeah, like I prefer the sound of the TC-777, but they are pretty similar. I've also seen a few people comment that they prefer the sound of the TC30, so I think it's a lot of just personal preference, but to me the TC-777 sounded a little cleaner
Great video, thanks! I bought the TC30 as I liked the sound here, but whatever I do with the settings in Audacity, it always has a lot of static when recording on my computer. It has way more static than all other mics I own (on the same settings): my in-built Macbook mic, my old cheap Mpow headset mic, and my Sennheiser headset mic. Is that normal for this type of mic? Have other people had this problem? Thanks a lot.
The closer the mic is to your mouth, the lower the volume range you can adjust and the better the sound quality will be. Many gamer streamers (like Rogue from NRG) have their mics sitting very close to their mouths, sometimes as close as 6 or 7 inches apart. The further out you place the mic, the more echo and noise it will pick up. Try it and see. I have my mic away from me by 6 inches and have the volume range (Windows mic volume setting) to 90 instead of 100. Sounds clean. :)
Hi there! No I didn't use any filters or post processing on the audio. Personally I prefer the TC-777, but I have heard some people say that they like the TC30 more
Glad it helped! I'm not really sure what the difference is. I didn't think it would make a difference, but apparently it does. I feel like it might be because it is a powered USB hub and maybe it is a grounding issue, but I'm honestly not really sure
How do you live monitor your audio like you had mentioned during your video? I have the tc30 and stream on twitch, and would like to monitor it. Windows mic monitoring is delayed and off-putting, and there is no headphone jack in it so I can't do that either
I was monitoring the audio through Logic Pro. You can monitor through most audio recording softwares. If you don't have an audio recording software, you can download Audacity for free and monitor your audio through there
TC-777 definitely sounds a bit better. Just had a cleaner and more professional sound. But honestly, whichever you choose I don’t think anyone would notice the difference unless you mention it.
I'm currently using the TC-777 and the microphone is giving off a loud hissing/electric humming sound. I am sitting in a homemade VO booth with some LED lights. I'm also using a Microsoft Surface Pro and am recording on Audacity. I tested the mic several times, closer to the computer and further away, with and without the lights on, but it sounded the same each time. I previously used a USB adapter thinking it would help but it only worked for a moment before destroying my mic somehow. I had to get a replacement mic and while it does connect to my computer's USB better than the previous one I am still getting major electric twangs in the audio. Has anyone had this problem and if so do you have a solution?
Sorry to hear that! Just curious, do you have your Microsoft Surface Pro charging while you are doing this? It sounds like it might be a grounding issue, but I'm not sure

Hi Bruce, so unfortunately I think you will get the same result with the TC-777 and pretty much most condenser microphones, just because condensers are so sensitive. If you are really trying to avoid wearing headphones you might actually be better off with a dynamic microphone and putting it on a stand to bring it close to your mouth. I hope that helps!
