Petes treated like a bad guy in this film, but to be honest if I was woken up at 4am by a freeloading roommate and then he acted like I was in the wrong, I would be pissed off aswell.
Pete even immediately calmed down the second Shaun told him that he had just broken up with Liz, gave him an understanding nod, then politely told him to keep it down. Lmfao Ed is the one who kept escalating it!
I feel like when you’re a teenager or early twenties, Shaun and Ed are more relatable. But definitely 10 years later, Pete becomes your spirit animal. Honestly it’s a shame Pete got bit by a zombie, he deserved better
I never thought Pete was treated like the "bad guy." At the beginning of the movie Shaun clearly needs to grow up but he won't listen when people like Liz and Pete tell him that he needs to make a change. It takes a literal zombie apocalypse to make him mature as a person. The entire movie is about how he learns to become the person that Liz wants him to be when they are talking int he pub at the start of the film.
Isn’t it hilarious how Pete sympathizes with Shaun when he says: we split up with Liz tonight, and then Pete calms down to say: just keep it down, yeah?
You both bring up a good point, he loves Shaun but hates that he lets Ed mooch off him. It’s honestly must be really frustrating to live with two other people who refused to grow up.
This shows that pete isn't a bad person, he was annoyed at first but after understanding the situation he was calm, right up until Ed called him a prick
Pete:I got mugged on the way home from work Ed: by who? Pete: idk some crackheads or something one of them bit me Ed:Why did they bite you? Pete: idk I didn't stop to ask them!!!
I love the hints at the zombie outbreak being clearly there but not being forced down your throat as the centre of attention. The sirens in the background, Pete saying that everyone in his department is ill, then referencing his splitting headache after talking about getting bitten. Like some of those could go unnoticed the first time you watch even though they're right there. So cleverly written
One of the reasons why this is one of my favourite movies ever. The way they built up to the outbreak was so good and they added so many details setting it up that I noticed rewatching the movie.
They all treated it like it was just some normal weekend....people at work not showing up because they are "sick" and Pete just thinking he was bitten by some whacked out crackhead when it was really a zombie...they had no idea things would take a turn for the worse.
"And the front door is open, AGAIN!" (Basically every day of my life with everything my kids touch. My job and this little screen, typing to you all, plus waiting for more things to fix around the house, is my life now. But, I won't complain too much. They do give nice hugs.)

Pete had every right to be mad and snap at Ed like he did. Ed was cool but he lived in the house and payed no rent, plus he lived like a lazy slob. Then he had the nerve to call Pete a prick. Any rational person would have reacted the same way.
Back then I thought Pete was being an asshole..but now years later I sympathize with him. He had work in the morning and he was trying to sleep...Ed's a really cool guy, but he didn't really contribute anything. He had no job, no income, just sat around all day and played video games and ate all their food. Pete was right to tear him a new one.

Holy Fucking shit! That flyer in the background has 'Si Begg' on it... he remixed one of Sven Vaths most famous tracks! Whoever did the props on this show really knows their techno!
One thing I appreciate watching this now which I didn't when I was younger is the background detail. The constant sirens you hear once the music is shut off and the window is open indicating something big/unusual is happening elsewhere. Pete mentioning all of his colleagues are off sick, the bite on his hand and his headache. All foreshadowing and building up to what we see the following day.
@@spartan7465 no because there's no apocalypse on Friday it all started on Saturday night and its 4am on a Sunday so Pete must of been bitten on Saturday since Shaun's mom took 1 day at the Winchester to turn so maybe as with Pete Phillip has already been bitten before he got bitten again so he must of been slowly turning but when he got bit again in the neck it must of made him turn faster
