    Good list. I might add the Sinfonia Concertante by Prokofiev, an interesting work, since it not only showcases the dialogue between cellist and orchestra, but has basically been written as a dialogue between Rostropovich as the soloist and Prokofiev as the composer.

    3 underrated concertos are Anton Rubensteins 2 cello concertos and the Myaskovsky cello concerto.

    Thank you for the video! I'm not a fan of various rankings as they are relative, so I'd just mention my personal favourites. Dutilleux ('Tout un monde lointain'), definitely Lutoslawski (probably the most intense cello concerto ever), Gubaidulina (I admire her 'Sonnengesang', also some fragments of 'Das Fest ist in vollem Gang' - I like a dark cembalo beginning. Haven't been able to listen to her 'Aus dem Stundenbuch' concerto), Schnittke 1st, especially its finale.

    Thank you for adding the CPE Bach A major concerto. That's one of my very favorites, and I would love to perform it one day.

    you have to show the 2nd subject of the 1st movement of the dvorak some day, or the cadenza from the 2nd mvmt. The beginning is epic but so is the rest of the concerto (as long as my left hand is spared during the chromatic octaves, sextuplets, or the sixths/thirds passage at the beginning of the 3rd mvmt)

    my favorite cello concerto is probably the Saint-Saëns No. 2 - the opening of the second movement is genuinely one of the most epic passages of music I've ever heard (and also probably one of the hardest)

    • @just1Gaming
      @just1Gaming Месяц назад

      if you like passages that are hard just for the sake of being hard, Offenbach grand concerto is a relatively unheard of concerto that is absolutely filled with them

    The real problem with the dvorak is that live the cello is so often inaudible
    Have you ever listened to a live where the cello is balanced?

    Thank you for this list!....I mostly agree and i am happy that actually both of Shostakovitch concertos are included. Dvorak I do not like very much, I find it a bit to overloaded..the orchestra is too heavy and the whole concerto lacks som freshness and spontanious ideas..but, personal preference. The concerto which SHOULD be included on the list, even on the top, is Juro Tkalcics sadly very unknown concerto. He was even a cellist him self and I find his concerto has really all you would expect, dream of and love to hear in a concero for cello....and even more... it is also so spontanious in its shape, Singing from the first note... ruclips.net/video/ugpkXIDRluI/видео.html

    I agree with everyrything but I think it would be better if you add barber concerto but I know that walton is better but I really think if you do 11 concertos and put at 11 it would be perfect.I don't disagree with you on Elgar.I think it's a little bit overrated.

      Again…so many concertos over there…This is my list: I prefer the Concerto No. 2 than No. 1, however, the finale of No. 1 is brilliant. Saint-Saëns is a great concerto. As mentioned, difficult to add all these great works in a video.
