Okay - thank you for the demonstration. Well done. My boat mechanic did the 20 hour for free. I did the 100 hour. No problem. However, during COVID no availability of an oil filter. (they change out 400 hours or 2 years - so mechanic said no problem). Now, I am at the 200 hour change. I live in Baja Sur, by the Sea of Cortez. I really like my 175 Suzuki and have had it for 2 years come the end of this month. Here are the questions - Do you happen to have the part # for the Suzuki oil filter? How about the lower unit crush washers? -- can’t find these in the manual. Hoping to find the parts in La Paz this week. -- tight lines
Today it has 89. The more you use them the longer they last! I just don’t fish much during the summer. It will be used 3 out of 4 weeks now through the end of May.
It is a Skout 220 15 1/4x22 4 blade. I do like the boat as I fish in very shallow water most of the time. It will get up in 6” if it is a mud bottom. Needs 8” in sand. Look through my channel and you can see it get up in mud. Very stable when fishing due to the very wide bottom. The only down side is it does not maneuver well at the slow speed around the dock. With practice this becomes much easier.
So far so good. If you keep it under 4,000 rpm’s you will get 3.5 to 4 miles per gallon. Super quiet and very reliable. Most guides on the middle Texas coast are running Suzuki and for good reason. Trouble free!
I did it on a 2019 Suzuki 25hp and I don’t think this will be much different…..just a little heavier. You can buy a complete maintenance kit and save yourself a bunch of money. www.brownspoint.com/store/pc/Maintenance-Kits-c165.htm. I will do a video on the 100 hr service if the wind ever quits blowing here on the middle Texas coast and I can get out on the water.
Thank you Capt for making this video. Very nice of you to show fellow boaters how to take care of their motors and save a few bucks!
I enjoyed watching your video!
Thank you!
Good video captain
Thank you from Russia 🤘
Thanks for the video Capt'n. I have a 2014 DF175. I need to do the lower and upper oil change. How many quarts of oil did the upper take in total?

Turn the prop a few tes and you will get quite a bit more gear oil in ?
I will give that a try!
Any issues with warranty conditions doing the servicing yourself?
Nope!
Nice rig, is that a skout 220? 3 or 4 blade prop? and are you happy with it? considering one for myself

How are you liking the new motor? I just ordered a black 175 last week!

How many quarters of motor oil did you use?
8.5 per the book that came with the motor.
