  • Fathers Knows Best Episode Titled A Spooky Cemetery From 10/26/1950. The radio show [NBC, Thursdays, 8:30pm(et)], as written by creator Ed James, featured more "slapstick" than the later TV series. I find these old "Father Knows Best" radio broadcasts to be much more humorous than the television version. The TV show delved into serious personal themes, while the radio broadcasts actually had some witty lines.

I agree! I've tried to watch a few episodes of the TV show, and it's hard to stay awake!

@@conservativemom12 I think it depends I listened to the pilot of the radio version and it was impressively very good.
However I find Robert does a very good job in both the radio and TV version and although not all there are some very good, touching and morally enriching moments in the TV series.

@@conservativemom12 Hi, yes definitely its worth a shot being honest I'll say when I first tried the TV show version I didn't really like it and I started to watch more of Marcus Welby instead.
I've found that not all episodes are of a high calibre there are some very good episodes mainly ones which focus on Kathy and Jim's character as well as some Bud. There are also some other ones which are very good.
      To name but a few
      1) A sparrow in the window
      2) Formula for happiness
      3) The good samaritan
      4) Man of merit
      5) The Persistent Guest
      6)Follow the leader
      7) Boys week
      8) Bud, the Speculator
      9) Adopted Daughter

Originally, that's what creator Ed James wanted to title it; by the time it began in the fall of '49, the question mark was dropped from the title.
