    • @sledge1960
      @sledge1960 8 лет назад +24

      Go to the course, the vast majority of golfers remember when they were beginners and will be happy to give you every assistance. It's a game of confidence and you only get it with experience. Also, one lesson from a pro will give you all the confidence you'll need to play a round. He will tell you what you are doing wrong, no video can do that, no matter how well conceived. As Jack Nicklaus said, 'If your posture is right and your grip's good, you can be taught'. My first round I hit 149, exactly one year later I was hitting in the 80's and I only took it up aged 50. It's the best game in the world, enjoy it.

    Yes it is important to stay in position at the end of the swing with no body movement, this helps to keep the ball on line after contact much like a snooker player!

    I love you guys!!!!! My swing has improved in just one day after watching your videos. I'm now hitting with a close stance and there is one thing I noticed you guys doing- you don't seem to MUSCLE UP on your downswing. You seem to just be content to allow the club face to hit the ball. For years, this has been my downfall which has led me to be inconsistent. I went to the range after watching this video and just thought of meeting the ball, not muscling up to increase downswing speed, and guess what? Ball goes both farther and straighter. Go figure! Now can I finally get this down? Thanks again.

    I've golfed off and on over the years. I remember as a kid, going to the driving range for lessons every Friday after school. And going to group lessons during summer vacation. I've only played on a course a couple of times, and even then, there are very few public courses in my state. I haven't been to the driving range since well before Covid, but I was always pushing my shots to the right.

    Great instructions!!! Never been told to move body towards target and then unwind from the instructors I've had in the past. Will practice on this awhile!!! As far as a stable body I focus on keeping my sternum over the ball which helps me to not move anything from the waist down, ie. keeps me stable!

    Not bad guys, so much involved in set up - athletic position, weight on the balls of your feet, feet runs parallel to your intended target, hit through to your intended target and not at the ball and the results should be fabulous! All the rest you showed was spot on, grip and relaxing is so important in applying a good solid shot. I have been playing golf for over 45 years and waisted 30 of those years thrashing at the ball as hard as I could, till I went for a lesson, so, you guys out there take in what these guys have shown you/us, they are spot on and their tips will save you lots of money in going for a golf lesson!

    I found a nice picture of the hand position is to relax your arms down by your side, you'll notice the natural position for your thumbs is that they are turned slightly inwards. Then just maintain that thumb position as you grip the club so as you swing through the impact zone, your hands will be in their natural position. And for me, when I examined the lay of the club through my left hand, it matched the position demonstrated by the boys in the vid.

    How far away from the ball should you be standing? If you're using a longer club should you be the same distance from the ball as with a shorter club?

    Warning, long post:
    I took a friend to a golf simulator a few weeks ago. He's gone to the driving range a few times before, (he said last time was over 10 years ago (he's currently 39)). We were there for an hour and he hit "surprisingly well" for just picking it up - meaning he was hitting the ball and while they weren't going incredibly far or anything, most were relatively straight and up in the air. He used my previous cavity-back clubs. We then went to a par 3, then a driving range once on separate days. Not long after, one of the first things he does on his golf journey is buy a new set of Takomo 101T clubs, from 4i to PW. Of course when he goes to the driving range he can't hit them well at all, but he buys a putting mat, then starts talking about wanting to buy the MLM2PRO, the SPG-8 net, a mat to hit off of. He says he wants to practice at home using a simulator for a year before ever going out to an actual course.
    Not sure what the right phrase for this is... putting the cart before the horse? I was trying to come up with some kind of analogy for why sinking $1200+ into having a setup at home might not be the right move. Saying something like doing what he wants to do is similar to wanting to get a six-pack before stepping foot in the gym?
    So... first, the financial costs, he doesn't have a job right now and doesn't have a huge amount of savings. Second, he literally just picked up golf; I told him to use my clubs to start or get a set of used ones, and he said he would never buy used and would always buy new... Third, he's saying he enjoyed the Par 3, so why wouldn't he enjoy going to an actual course?
    We live in Pennsylvania where we can golf for a decent portion of the year and the driving ranges aren't expensive ($12 USD for a jumbo bucket of about 110 balls; $100 for a 10 bucket ticket). Most of the courses range from $40-60 with cart, even on weekends. Tbh, I think it could be that he's too embarrassed to go out to a course or even to the driving range too often until he gets to a certain standard. He bought a driver and has had it for over a week, but hasn't hit any balls with it...
    What would you say to a friend like this? "Go ahead and do what you think is right"? "You might want to try going to the driving range some more before even thinking about spending $700 + $100 per year on a LM"? This seems completely abnormal to me, but maybe I'm wrong and this is good way to get started in golf? Oh, I told him before he bought the xstiff clubs that he should at least try swinging a driver to see what his swing speed is because since he said going to a club fitting was a waste of money, at least it would be some measure of what flex to get. He tells me later that he read there isn't much of a difference between xstiff and stiff, so he didn't think anything of it. Last I saw, he was swinging my 7i at maybe 60 mph or less.
    Appreciate any input. Might just tell him to do whatever he wants, but I'd want a friend to at least try set me on the right path before giving up lol..

      There are many factors in how to play golf better. One plan I found that succeeds in merging these is the Gavs golf tactic (google it if you're interested) it's the no.1 blueprint that I've heard of. Check out all the awesome info .

      Thanks for the Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you researched - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my m8 after many years got astronomical success with it.
