All well so far this end mate, nice to see you making progress on the lathe. Can't wait to see some future projects coming on line. Hope you and the family keep safe.
@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious Could I ask you to check out the Ca Lem channel on here if you have not found him already. I know that you will be impressed by the young man ! No plug for me, just that I am impressed by him and wanted to share.
1:05 Johnny! I don't have any precision angles either. You'd be surprised by how accurate a Wixey angle finder is and you can use it for so many more things as well.
I was going to say the same thing. I have the same mill and couldn’t do half the things without my Wixey angle finder, wigglers and centre finders. Great video Scott and good to see you using that mill.
Hope You and your family are doing fine down under! Great little upgrade to any Lathe. I hope this year I have my stuff outta hiding, since 2016. AND.....let that OX out of the box too!!!!
G’day Scott entertaining as always and practical as ever. Appreciate the way you think when making things keep it up might need to start teaching these skills in the future.
Very nice, I like the brass knob! And good to see the 'ol RF30 in action. I have a lathe from the same company and it actually came with a carriage stop but it's so badly made I never use it. Might have to make one of these some day
Thank you Phil! Sorry for being off line for a bit. I have been involved in rolling out some training recently and have been away from my beloved shed. Hope to be back soon. Stay safe and all the best.
Nice and simple. Suggest adding a 1/4” thick brass locknut, knurled, and just wider diameter than your brass stop to hold ‘er still. But that might not be a problem. Thanks
Awesome work Scott. Great to see some machining on your channel :-) PS: Not sure, but perhaps the reason you were getting tapered cuts on your radius, when you were using the end of the vise, could be that the vise isn't trammed in parallel with the table? Keep up the good work! Cheers, Craig
Great tool & video as always, Scott! Now that I'm starting to play, er, work with my lathe little projects like this take on a whole new meaning to me. Best, @HoneyOnWales
Simple effective project and you got to use your lathe and mill. Seems like a Win Win. Just wondering could a person use a lever or handle or knob in place of the Allen screw removing need for the use of the hex key. Also could this be a piece to try blueing on to give protection and make it and the brass look custom. I don’t have a mill but should be able to make something fairly close with careful cutting and filing.
Tig weld an ear to the bottom of it facing out horizontal... Drill it to depth then clearance to half depth and tap it... Then cut through it to the bit where the threaded bar runs... Thumbwheel and bolt... That'll now lock the threaded bar in a set position...🇬🇧🙂
Hey Scott, just subbed to your channel. I was reading the about and noticed a typo, you have feed instead of fed in your introduction. Look forward to watching your collection. Cheers
Great idea/project, but I have one question. You’re not using the traverse feature with the stop correct? Just when you’re manually feeding and want a certain stopping point? Would love to figure out a way to build something like this to disengage at certain lengths.
Thank you, but I am unsure what you mean. Some lathes have a travel switch that shuts of power. My old Hercus 260 Lathe has this feature, but I only use it as a safety stop
@@ScottTurnerformeindustrious yeah my comment was a bit vague. When using your stop the lathe has to have a clutch in order for it em to work correctly. Am I correct in assuming that has to be the case? Otherwise it would be just like crashing the lathe without some sort of disengagement.
@@johnghatti5435 Sorry, I see. No clutch. Auto feed to just before the stop then manually feed the carraige to the stop. Don't feed with the cross slide. So the lathe is running the whole time. Hope this helps
Ha! It's actually pretty darn good and I use it regularly. haven't heard from him in recent weeks but I see his on line activity. He's a good bloke our Tim
Thanks Kieth. You printed one out of steel? I have a drawing of the basic shape without the lower locking key clamp. Send me an email and I'll try and send my plan.

Thank you for showing, good idea, now you could install a gauge and will make it a multiple use tool. Thank you and have a nice and safe day.
My pleasure, thanks!
You might want a jam nut for the brass fine adjustment. Otherwise vibration could move it.
Good idea. Thanks Mark.
There is something extremely satisfying about watching precision craftsmanship in action.
