  • Hy There,
In this video i'll show you how i make a simply version of carriage stopper for my new lathe.
there are many different types of carriage stopper, some of them with multiple presets but i just make a simpliest version of them because i only need them for some seriall work here and there.
English language was always pain in the a** for me, I respect every correction, but please be gentle
    Thanks for watching.

    Excellent little project.
I've often wondered about how useful it would be to have a carriage feed disengagement facility to stop screw cutting up to a certain point, but I like the sound of a clutch for the carriage feed even more - and I think might well be the slightly easier option. Looking forward to seeing it.

Thats where the problem is -thread screws dont have clutch ,it works by using split nut.If you disengage it during cutting operation it might cause damage and wear out quicker.

@@zumbazumba1 Hmmm. Not sure if your reply was to me or not, but if it was, perhaps you don't understand the point I was trying to make.
FWIW, I DO, and I'm certain the TinC33 understands the reason for, and operation of the split nut, but my thoughts do not impact on the split nut.

Hey that's actually amazing idea, my lathe don't had a clotch, with a lever i only turn on the switches wich activate one or other contactor, so i could easily just add another switch in series to turn off the lathe and just put it on that stopper, so when the switch activate lathe will stop, then turn it clockwise set feed and activate again.... really simply without any mechanic work.
That lathe also got thread rod dial so i CAN disengaged halfnut while cutting and then via dial engaged it in same position, so we don't need to run lathe backwards while cutting threads but didn't try yet, there are some numbers, but only specific numbers on dial is for specific pitch, i don't know, leave halfnut locked seems more reliable to me

Interesting but why bother with a screw adjustment ,when you could have used 8mm rod that you can fix by using thumbscrew on the side? That way you can quick adjust it and you could replace the rod with dial indicator if needed.
    Over all not bad.

That's because i need that only for specific seriall production like facing 100 pieces to same leinght, rod fixed by thumbscrew can quckly change it's position if not touching it gentle enough, and same is with indicator, for positioning i got DRO so so I don't see the need for an indicator. i just need solid limiter, wich is also very easy and quickly to setup roughly or precize and won't change it's pozition.
