“The slicing of the meat is me giving pieces of myself to people, whether I want to or not, and as a Native person that’s basically what you are doing every day. Whether people choose to eat it is totally up to them. And you ate it.” And then Whitney just completely misses the point, doesn’t realize she was just called out, and says “That was beautiful.” That part was so great.

Emma Stone is one of the most gifted and talented actors of her generation - I saw it all the way back in “Easy A,” and I’m so glad she’s seemingly really found her creative groove and is getting her due now.
I definitely feel what Emma said about Whitney and Cara's dialogue really starkly defining Whitney. Its like Cara just by being her honest self and having both a forthrightness AND a measured, distanced relationship with her shines a light so bright on her negative/superficial/artificial traits that they practically set on fire. I really hope to see more of Nizhonniya in the future, shes really amazing. The details about her improvising those important lines were wild, it felt like something that almost could have seeded the whole idea of the show, but instead was just her unscripted interpretation of her characters internality. Thats Actor-y AF.

i see a lot of comments alleging emma is "like whitney" and that just ... is the opposite of the truth. first of all, she has diagnosed anxiety disorder and panic disorder, hence the discomfort and what could be interpreted as hostility or tension you see that may look like whitney and her ever conflicting array of emotions but emma's isn't due to any kind of ill intent lying underneath a fake smile or whatever. it's rather a "fake it till you make it" as in "pretend things are fine even though i'm terrified." she's talked about being terrified of public speaking. the tension isn't hostility but rather, nerves. she's said and i quote that she's "a bundle of nerves" and "constantly overthinking" everything she says and doesn't say. next, her "attitude" is being taken literally when in reality, she, like nathan, does a lot of bits, sarcasm, and dry humor in the natural way she communicates. to this tune, emma knows nathan and benny a lot better and is close friends with the two as opposed to not knowing nizhonniya as well, hence a presence of more anxiety when speaking to her that, like i said, seems to be read as hostility. finally, her not wanting to be the one to speak *first* when prompted about oppressive systems that she doesn't experience and in turn obviously shouldn't be the one to lead the discourse about is GOOD !! that and as she later says, she had a lot of comments to make but wanted to take time to make sure things were articulated properly for such an important subject. that hesitation shows how much she cares. she's talked in the past about being apprehensive to speak on oppressive systems she isn't affected by in a spokesperson role like this for fear she would indeed be speaking over someone or unintentionally causing other harm. if you listen to nathan talk about how she and dave were the ones who wanted *cara's* explanation about the meat in the show, that is a direct testament to my point: that she wants to center the people who experience the oppression so that their voices can be heard.
I think his pain was easiest to see, and he was willing to change himself in ways that he thought would make himself good. I think people get really obsessed with the auteur thing, and im as susceptible as anyone, but even in the most director-driven by-the-script productions theres so much work done by the actors to create what you are seeing. The casting of Dean Cain in that specific role was so genius, because he literally is that guy in real life - a bizarre contradiction of both conservative and liberal, but not in a “centrist” way per se… he’s just this oddity in today’s sociopolitical landscape and you can’t really pin him or his positions down in any one “lane.” His casting for that role wasn’t any sort of mistake or happy accident; it absolutely had to be intentional.
@@legendarytoes I found a comment on the subreddit of someone who had recorded the entire audio of the Q&A and put it online. I'm sorry I don't remember the post it was under, but it had something to do with episode premiere photos. Hope you find it!
same here! i even subscribed to the channel just to keep checking for updates. all of the q&a’s have been excellent but i’m really excited to hear them talk about the finale. personally i thought it was the best finale of all time
These are such fantastic panels. Benny is endlessly fascinating the way he talks about the characters and the show. I trust him implicitly with any story. I'm really going to miss Dougie for some reason once this show wraps up!! lol
lmao I completely get that. Dougie felt like a combination of a few people I have known who are toxic as friends but objectively fascinating and strangely endearing as people.
This was great, thanks so much for posting! I also appreciate Dave McCary attempting to wrangle things and do a rapid fire round. Please tell me there is a similar Q&A for when episode 10 comes out, because I'm sure we'll have nothing but questions.
Great opportunity and very thankful for the Q/A. But for anyone in the situation in the future, the crowd should be queried for questions for all the panelists. Specifically here for Nizhonniya, and also Emma to an extent. Nathan and Benny are ready at any chance to talk talk talk and as tricksters also to derail. A moderator needs to know this and be ready for it. Dave had the right idea with a lightening round but that was only necessary because the moderator had already not commanded the space properly. A moderator should make everyone feel in their right place, such that they are not having to spill over their sides with responsibilities that shouldn't be theirs; when that happens, what each individual desires from the situation gets muddied by cross-talk and a confusion of places. Not throwing any shade here, just offering a reflection on how to respect the panelists and the crowd, so everyone is involved in the most optimum way and can shine for what they are. (For example, on the good/bad character question, that is a time for the moderator to jump in and direct it straight to Nizhonniya first; then the others would 'remember' that she hadn't spoken in over half an hour, and likely would gladly wait upon her words. I for one would have loved to hear her answer on that question; and been saved Benny's captious rejection of the binary, in any case.)
damn I wish I was there and this interviewer needs to prepare his questions beforehand omg it was stressing me out but can’t blame him also he’s sitting next to emma stone
What an amazing interview for an amazing piece of media. Loved the dynamics and intricate interpersonal relationships displayed by all the creators in this q & a. They Really dissected the core of this show in such a simple profound and unknowing way while also bringing forth a mirror to the madness. We have to stan.
Benny got to see 2 nuclear bombs go off one in Oppenheimer and the other at the end of episode 9😂 and I just came from watching the finale holy shhhhhhhiiiiitttttttt I’ve never had so much anxiety watching a show we need a season 2
This was such a spectacular discussion. What a really insane show but to have the characters almost argue out from the actors about motivations is fantastic.
Not saying Emma wasn't being genuine, nor do I expect her to be a great speaker on injustices/capitalism/racial themes presented in the show. I actually think Whitney was "genuinely" praising Cara in many moments of the show too. Regardless of intent or how morally sound Emma/Whitney are, the dynamic between a very successful white actor/producer and an up and coming indigenous actor/writer/artist is just sort of similar to their characters on the show, and was reflected on in this panel.
I was thinking something similar in how, when Nizhonnniya struggled with the first question, Nathan started to speak for her. I just thought, woah, this is life imitating art right here lmao.
I felt his questions were solid, he just seemed to lack confidence and ask everything in a roundabout, almost apologetic way -- these types of things require the moderator to be more direct. Also he was too self-serious and seemed afraid to make a joke, even though there is plenty of dark humour laced into the show.
I love Benny, but since his split from Josh, his eagerness to talk (and something about the way he's talking - the uncontrolled excitement and passion about every thought) have gone to the moon a little. That being said, it's a fantastic show!
Definitely not stupid! But it is the whole question of the show basically, which is why I think Nathan answered her question with a question. It's kind of like showing everyone around Cara talk about her art and her not commenting on it. If I were Benny or Nathan or Emma, I'd be hesitant to answer that question because that's the whole crux of the show.
I thought his takes were p good on the show! He clearly studies film and reads a lot since he formulate his thoughts amazingly, but I agree, maybe his questions were posed a but confusingly since they weren't straight forward. Honestly, it felt as though his listeners were attempting to catch the previous train of thought before riding it out, and therefore when he arrived at the station (the question), they were lost already. Simpler, punchier questions seem to create more discussion, much like shitty abstract art. Sometimes when something is so beautiful outright, it leaves less room for thought for the audience.
Jesus Christ, it’s genuinely painful to watch the interviewer/moderator trying to ask them things, he does not seem prepared at all, it’s a shame since this is the only Q&A with all three main characters and producers
I don’t think so - I was looking for this as well, because I thought it was terrible and wanted them to explain themselves for wasting 10+ hours of my life lol
Host needs a lesson in Occam's. Objectively terrible question-asker, but clearly knows a lot of words. So at least there's that. Let's not all dump hate and blame on him though, these are literally the show makers who sanctioned this entire Q&A. They let the guy do it. And not one of them was able to break their awkward politeness to even say to him "could you simplify the question?"
Thank you for this upload, it was marvelous to watch, priceless. Mostly confirming my interpretations about the show. The Curse is a unique show, definitely not for everyone. And is refreshing that an actress that like so much, for many many years stands behind the ideas of this show, and not with the crap Hollywood is trying to brainwash people everyday.
The BAC thing isn't accurate. One drink will have the average person blow around a .06+ within the hour. Two drinks within an hour and people usually beyond the legal limit. In order to stay under the limit,it requires the average person to only have one drink per hour. There's obviously a lot of variables, but those limits are in place exactly because of the BAC averages that people will have when drinking. The idea is that the law really only wants people having 1 drink per hour if they're gonna drive.
What about the Sikh thing? The Yogi Bhajan stuff? I'll keep watching and hope they comment on it. Somebody in this production really (understandably) hates him. To set the show in Espanola was such a conscious choice. amazing.
Benny said in an earlier Q&A (about that/some other things) that they were just trying to fill out the show’s universe with real world happenings from the area + that the area was mostly incidental based on tax breaks for filming and downtrodden town element
Love how the host manages to make that first relatively simple question into a convoluted multi paragraph confusing mess that he just leaves the actors with. It’s very artful in its own way. Not many people could do that bad of a job without intention!

I noticed that Cara always speaks honestly. The silence, sure but wish they had a bit more with her.
I'm checking this channel every day for their episode 10 discussion. I gotta know what they have to say about it.
yeah it's crazy that it's not up yet
@@legendarytoes I found a comment on the subreddit of someone who had recorded the entire audio of the Q&A and put it online. I'm sorry I don't remember the post it was under, but it had something to do with episode premiere photos. Hope you find it!
same here! i even subscribed to the channel just to keep checking for updates. all of the q&a’s have been excellent but i’m really excited to hear them talk about the finale. personally i thought it was the best finale of all time
@@mattvandam8861 The audio of the QnA is available on the subreddit!
It's not exactly deep. Goofy weirdness for basics.
I was always captivated when Dougie on screen.
This was great, thanks so much for posting! I also appreciate Dave McCary attempting to wrangle things and do a rapid fire round. Please tell me there is a similar Q&A for when episode 10 comes out, because I'm sure we'll have nothing but questions.
It's true, I am full of questions
I would also love to see more now
Everytime Nathan opens his mouth Im opening mine DYING LAUGHING
Dave is the voice and cameraman in Kyle's "Smoking" trilogy. A 420 friendly snoking masterclass in purpskurpology
Underrated reference, that’s a wild connection
Hand blown glass blown
all about that skahnk-ahnk-ahnk
First time I've seen Nathan not be "in character"! Even in most interviews he's usually playing it up.
damn I wish I was there and this interviewer needs to prepare his questions beforehand omg it was stressing me out but can’t blame him also he’s sitting next to emma stone
bro minute 1 and im already nervous cause of this guy asking questions
like im gonna cry dude what that was so hard to watch it had to be written by nate
Imagine if he was hired to be awkward and uncomfortable to parallel the awkwardness of the show lol
That Romulan on stage was looking pretty fly
Emma and Nizhonnniya's interactions in this have a similar vibe to Whitney and Cara
@@marcusmason8328 ohhh i see what you're saying. definitely misinterpreted on my part but i agree. i apologize.
I was thinking something similar in how, when Nizhonnniya struggled with the first question, Nathan started to speak for her. I just thought, woah, this is life imitating art right here lmao.
Dudes first question was 2 minutes long
What the actual fuck
Interviewer could genuinely use a public speaking class or two.
It’s weird seeing Nathan not act like a troll. Seems like a cool dude honestly.
the show is a masterpiece. congrats to everyone involved.
It would feel very Nathan to never get the Episode 10 discussion
That was a chaotic Q&A
Love that they're doing these, but this moderator is pretty awful.
I felt his questions were solid, he just seemed to lack confidence and ask everything in a roundabout, almost apologetic way -- these types of things require the moderator to be more direct. Also he was too self-serious and seemed afraid to make a joke, even though there is plenty of dark humour laced into the show.
The finale was amazing!
I love Benny, but since his split from Josh, his eagerness to talk (and something about the way he's talking - the uncontrolled excitement and passion about every thought) have gone to the moon a little.
That being said, it's a fantastic show!
I feel like Dave McCary's introduction was a scene from THE CURSE.
LOVE this show!! Brilliant!
Love how Fielder naturally speaks like Kermit the Frog.
47:18 was kind of sad, the girl whose partner or w/e had told her it was a stupid question :(
weird cuts around that one-not sure what that was...
@@sugaree9090 yeah was totally engaged until it cut away.
I'm so glad Emma made sure to squash that. Sad part is he was probably pissed at her for saying that.
49:38 why was this cut
Episode 10 talk ?
“What’s done cannot be undone.”
18:14 amazing moment
He is so unbelievably funny without even trying
Cara's shoes are so hot
She is just hot all around.
Hope there’s one for the finale
Loved the reference of Brookhaven in the show. Very cool😁
Finalie was CRAZY
You really can’t tell Dave and Emma are dating, this is crazy 😂
They are just private
Arent they married with a kid? Lol
they’re married with a kid
29:46 Nathan is so effortlessly savage
At 49:22 I wonder if things were starting to get a little awkward here so they had to cut this part
pls upload the q and a for ep 10
the good neighbor shoutout!
Where is episode 10 of the curse!?! Please post the full q&a!! I will pay one million dollars!!
Such an interesting and refreshing show!
Emma seems so down to earth and nice
Will the videos from episodes 1-4 ever go up? Please!
The moderator is weirding me out with his vibe
talks way too much as if he's giving the answers
Tell me about it. Ended up skipping his questions tinged in word vomit.
He doesn't have good stage presence or control of the q&a lol it was odd
This moderator needs help asking concise questions.
Only takes 1:25 to fumble the first question out of his mouth
Is there one of these interviews with the cast for the finale?
I don’t think so - I was looking for this as well, because I thought it was terrible and wanted them to explain themselves for wasting 10+ hours of my life lol
@@TheBasketballArchivistthey actually did do a Q&A for the finale and the twitter account for this channel said it would be uploaded at some point
Hi. I'm just here for Nathan's talkshows stories. I hope he came prepared.
47:05 a broadcaster in the UK got in trouble recently for referring to an audience member as “the black guy” during a Q&A.
22:30, lol wow they literally cut off the non-famous guy
Whitney is one of Emma Stone's most dynamic performances and... Nathan's there too.
Wait holy shit that’s Dave from Good Neighbor!?
Universe hear my prayer and cast Nathan as RIchard Mayhew in Neil Gaiman's 'Neverwhere'. He would be perfect for the role.
i wish i could see the audience raising their hands on the good/bad person question 😢😢😢
the moderator is awful. he should have included the other people sitting on stage... and he should have taken more control.
I gave this video the 666th thumbs up, does that mean I'm now cursed?
Why is this cut?
will there be an interview for episode 10?
Fantastic show! The award nominations snub is a major injustice. Showtime better gives us at least a few more seasons.
I love those people
Emma Stone is incredible
Goodness, I know the dude is probably nervous, but this is hard to watch 6 minutes in.
Like forreal this dude is taking 40 seconds to ask what should take 5 seconds. Injecting way too much of his personal opinion into the questions.
None after the finale? 😢
