    We used Embark and have been really happy. The test results seem to be very accurate as well.

    Good to see the differences between the two. Just ordered from Embark myself so I can't wait to see the results I get.

    Thank you so much!! This is what I was looking for. I don’t mind paying extra money to figure out exactly what my rescue dog is. The shelter told me he’s a Chihuahua mix where doesn’t look anything like a chihuahua but more of a miniature German shepherd.

    Our dog is certainly mixed breed, will be interesting to see if her DNA matches what breeds we think she might be. It will be a bit more revealing than with your handsome dog. Nice video. :)

    I did the full embark test on my grand daughters dog. I particularly liked their health section. It screens for over 200 genetic diseases which is valuable to know if you even think about breeding. They also flag harmless genetic variants that can skew results on veterinary screening tests. This is so potentially valuable to the dogs health care that I will be testing all my dogs. Embark may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for. And a less expensive test that isn't accurate isnt worth it to me

      Most definitely! I want to upgrade Juneau's to the full health panel at some point because I feel its so beneficial!

      Just an update after having all the dogs tested. One purebred dog was a carrier for two genetic diseases. One was common in his breed but the other was not so a test that only looked for breed specific diseases would have missed it. I have been very pleased with Embark

    Because I bought a cross breed dog Cavapoo I really wanted to find out about health concerns to be on the lookout for or that could be prevented. I also wanted to be able to tell the breeder bc our dog came from a meninite community which does'nt study DNA and could help them breed healthier dogs bc they will definitely have more litters at some point. So far our dog is perfectly healthy, happy and looks like her breed. We will love her no matter what but just being on the safe side. When I asked my Vet she recommended embark so that is why I bought this brand even though some are cheaper.

    Wow. I got 2 yorkies, one I paid 2G for one I got from a backyard breeder for practically nothing. When I did wisdom the dog I paid 2G for came back as only 90% pure, while the backyard breeder dog was 100%, I thought that was strange especially after watching ur video because the 2G dog looks more purebred.

  • @courtney9139
    @courtney9139 3 года назад +14

    I don't understand how you can prefer embark? Your dog is clearly not a purebred German shepard and has something mixed into her somewhere. Embark gave you a false result at least wisdom panel detected she's mixed.

    • @pconhispc2759
      @pconhispc2759 3 года назад +7

      I agree with this. The video uploader wants her dog to be 100% and therefore is bias, even when the facts are slapping her in the face. The Embark is the poorer of the two tests clearly.

    • @TheButlerK9s

      Purebred and Wellbred are very different things. She is a very poorly bred dog.

    • @AlabamaPoe

      The only reason wisdom had 25% unknown is becus it look like 10 to 20 generations back.. Not like 4 or 5 generations.. Who really want to know 15 generations back for real? By now that breed can be obsolete in the makeup of the dog..

      You can not determine if a dog or anything else is purebred visually. I've had 50 years experience breeding and exhibiting dogs and various types of livestock and I've seen plenty known purebreds that are "throwbacks" and sure don't look purebred, as well as grade animals that are gorgeous. DNA doesn't lie but you have to understand its limitations. Genetic testing is spot on for identifying autosomal traits/genetic diseases and familial relationships; those things are hard data looking at the DNA itself. Breed determinations are not. They are basically educated guesses based on breed sampling and mathematical probabilities and are only as good as the samples taken and math used
