    189 swiss are about the famous "Sack(ing) of Rome".. where 189 defenders of Pope fought to make sure he gets out. They were against 14,000 germans and 6,000 spaniards.

    Sabaton are one of the best live bands out there, also their stage shows are awesome specially in Europe with tanks and shit on the stage!

    • @alancarter41
      @alancarter41 4 месяца назад +5

      Saw them in Oct 22 in Nashville, they used the same stage props (tank drum riser, rifle mike stands, sandbags and barbed wire) they do in Europe although they had less pyro due to the venue. The only real difference is the stage size are less since the venues are often smaller and there are no festivals in the USA worth going to.

    • @mindtrust
      @mindtrust 4 месяца назад +1

      @@alancarter41 Great to know, only saw a few video clips where the venues where quite small, but I guess it's changing as they are growing in the US also.

      @@mindtrust Interesting factoid, the longest Sabaton concert (to my knowledge) was at the Ogden Theater (max capacity 1600) in Denver in 2021after the Priest/Sabaton US tour was canceled. They set up an impromptu Sabaton only concert and played for over 2 hours. There are fan videos of RUclips, definitely worth a look as it is really different.

      @@alancarter41 Cool, to be fair my 3 best concert memories all comes from small venues with less than 3000 in capacity and my 3 worst once are from venues with +50 000 capacity 👍🏻

    Title track to the 2016 8th album, the song is about the last stand of the Swiss Guards during the sack of Rome in 1527. 189 Swiss Guards delayed the attackers, allowing the Pope to escape.
    Until you get a chance to see them live in person, there live videos to watch. "En Livstid I Krig" from the Great Tour in Gothernburg. "Ghost Division", "40:1", and "Uprising" from the 2012 Polish Woodstock festival (550k fans), and a fun song "Swedish Pagan's" at Wacken 2019 feat Tina Guo on cello.

    Sorry, the guitar Player at the beginning is Tommy Johannson and he has nothing to do with Iron Maiden. Same as the 2nd guitar Player Chris Rörland. But b.t.w. Tommy is a brillant singer and he has a lot of solo Vids Here one YT. And since a few months he is no longer with Sabaton.

    If you want to hear "the best Sabaton song not written by Sabaton"
    you should try Nanowar of Steel's song called "Pasadena 1994"
    which is a brilliant pastiche with references to this very song.
    This Italian comedy metal band are so good that they even got Joakim Brodén
    to sing guest vocals on the song.

    Enjoy
    PS they start their US tour in mid April check their tour dates:
    It looks like it is mostly the north Eastern USA and never crossed the Mississippi River
    but worth checking out.

    Sabaton has four songs that are homages to their influences, "'Metal Machine, Metal Ripper, Metal Crue and ManOwaR" Every lyric in these songs is a Band Name, Album, Song title that they like. You should absolutely check them out. incidently, Sabaton is on a US TOUR NOW, I am going to see them in Reading, PA at the end of the month

    This is one of their top 3 songs, imo. They are so good at setting a 'vibe' or 'tone' for a song. You can hear the 'holy' feel in this song about the Sack of Rome in 1527, and the Swiss Guards last stand at the Vatican. Also, I'd be stumbling over those fast lyrics. I'd have my tongue all twisted up trying to attempt that.

    Yes, they are this good live. I saw them in Salt Lake City in 2022. Even though it was a small venue, the show wasn't much different than you see here (except for the big screen). Hannes' drums were atop a tank, there was barbed wire at the front of the stage, machine gun mic stands, etc. The band was as tight as ever. I have never seen/heard a bad performance by Sabaton, live or otherwise.

    Loved your reaction:) Yes, as other posters have written, the band is this tight live. The suggestions you have, Woodstock 2012, In Livstid I Krig, Live at Gothenburg, are great suggestions. I also like the smaller venue videos. Watch "Sabaton - Ghost Division + Stormtroopers [Live in Portland 9/17/22]. They had just played in Seattle that Thursday, and Portland that Friday. The September 17th concert was their second Portland show, and sold out. It was so great to be in a concert again after the whole lock-down stuff. This video gives an idea of even in small venues, the musicians in Sabaton don't hold back at all, and they don't need pyros to give a great show:) My other favorite is the Houston 2022, with the videographer in a gas mask. And, though it's probably too long for a reaction, listen to Hellfest 2019. Joakim's famous and fine voice gave out on the 3rd song. Chris and Tommy then took turns singing the rest of the concert, with Joakim bringing them lyric sheets, cause the two guitarists don't usually sing all the song. This is a legendary concert, as Sabaton had already played at this festival, but that evening's scheduled headliner, Manowar, backed out, and Sabaton was brave enough to step up and face disappointed Manowar fans. The concert made heavy metal history as being a great concert. And the posts are really interesting to read on the videos (There are two different videos of the concert from two different fan-videographers.) Sabaton's efforts were much appreciated by the crowd.

    How about Ghost Division or Uprising live in Woodstock... and definitely En Livstid I Krig live in Gothenburg. For the last one definitely turn on the English subtitles to get the full experience!

    It's a great song, one of their most successful, I think.
    About the bells, they just remind me of church bells. I think my local church sounds just the same. Would make sense to me because the song is about the Swiss Guard and the Pope's escape from the Vatican in 1527.
    Great live shows are "En livstid I krig " in Gothenburg and "40:1" in Woodstock Poland. But also the whole show in Wacken 2019 from their 20th anniversary.
    But I would also recommend all of their animated videos. To know the story behind the songs makes them even greater.

  • @kjelledbom1728
    @kjelledbom1728 4 месяца назад

    I think they have some tracked choirs in their shows, but since they are singing same time i dont mind it. This is about the sacking of Rome at 1527? and the Swizz guards who always have defended the Pope tried to give the Pope enough time to escape when over a thousand sellswords looted the city. I think u should watch a Sabaton history episode of every video u are about to watch. ty for the reaction
