In this episode, I visit Bengaluru’s annual Avarebele Mela and taste a delicious smorgasbord of preparations, from vade to bonda to dose to hollige to rotti to jalebi to payasa to pootharekulu, with one ingredient in common, the avarebele or hyacinth bean. Great coverage of the AvarebeLe meLa. You left me drooling. Regarding KodubaLe, I was surprised that the lady didn't know what Kodu meant! BaLe is Bangle and Kodu is horn!😅 (since a part of the bangle shape sticks out like a cattle horn)
Perhaps this is the best episode of GOTR ever. I just love the way Kripal explains any dish that he tries. His reviews are so balanced that if a dish is good then he explains why one should go & try that dish and even if a dish is not then then he explains what care one should take in order to make it good.
I noticed that bengulurians (all indians native and migrants in benguluru) are well educated. No wonder it's called silicon city of India. I'm not judging based on english speaking but the awareness and knowledge of food. Thank you Sir for sharing.
I'm falling in love with Bengaluru and its food after watching your videos. It looks so delicious and wholesome at the same time! I really can't wait to travel there and enjoy all these delights.
Avare bele is the protagonist in the dosa..😃😃 Only Kripal sir can give such an intense role for avarebele.. What a food lover he is, I salute him for his passion.
Thank you Sir for the lovely video that showcases the variety of avarebeLe dishes we Kannadigas make! Kodu in koDbaLe means Horn, the edge of the ring that sticks out like a horn of an antler, or a livestock such as cow or goat. So, koDbaLe means bangle with a horn.
wonderful episode about the traditional food of karnataka kripalsir and a special thks to the young owners swati and chethan of sri vasavi thindi for their wonderful novel initiative
Every time I watching your videos the happiness for the food just transfers from your face to ours. It's really happy eating. Great review. All the best.
I think u guys should start a food tour in Bengaluru like delhi food walks Ppl coming to Bengaluru should go to the best place to eat and u r the guys who should be the people who take that charge ,
This is famous item of vegetarian people back when no paneer and mushrooms and gobi was not around ! But only side effect is you will fart a a lot after this much but with fragrance of avare hitki bele
Like chicken and mutton doesn't produce farts??? But you are right... Its protein and everyone's gut is different. Some fart more and some less, but protein guru, barale beku illa compressed gas chamber aagogtheevi.
Washing the(any beans or lentils) thoroughly with water and putting to cook immediately prevents farts. Add garlic or hingu also helps to prevent farts.
Brilliant stuff.. Loved it.. please feature Kadalekai Parishe - the annual peanut festival that happens near Bull Temple - the next time it takes place 😃
wow Kripal, You have hit the jackpot. !!! I moved to Bangalore for good in 96 and promply fell in love with Avarebele, Avarekkai . Avarekkai Sambar became my most favourite sambar. Even in US, I make Avarekkai sambar from substitute local beans. You brought out so many Avarekkai dishes, that I must try some soon. If there were a food review padma Bhushan prize, it should go to you. Loved every moment of your video today. Keep going Kripal...Hum Tumhare Saath Hain.!!!! One addendum though. Avarekkai(Bele )Sambar is the king of Avarekkai family of dishes.
@@FoodLoversTV Sir, We do get frozen Avarekkai beans but somehow that oommph taste is missing. Hence I use local pre cooked beans. Yes, even dried Svaret bean dal is available. But never tried. May try soon. Thanks for your quick response. This is what people love you.

Hello sir. Loved this video. Loved this festival & also all the food items shown in this video. This was my first experience of any festival from Bengaluru. Loved them all. Thanks for this video Kirpal sir & please do make such type of Hatke videos some time.
Hello Sir, i am one of your vivid followers for a long time, its amazing to watch all the hidden gems and followup and get a chance to eat there. has been a awesome experience all the way. The Mela has been the biggest disappointment , very bad management and a whole lot of wasted time in queue and poor hospitality by the vendors spoiled all the fun of the food. (waited 4hr just for the token and when reached the stall the food is over and have to go back in the queue to get it changed again. we just threw away the token) its has been a long time failure of the management on the mela. Hope you can provide the feedback for a better experience next time.

Hi sir thank you so much for this video, all dishes are so colour ful to see ,avare bele is my favourite, all dishes what they tried and prepared so innovative ☺️☺️
Hi, Kripal, I am just wondering what all you would expect from the kitchen of your own home, do you cook as excellent as you describe the food? How about your wife or your mother's recipes ? Can you please describe your own home food once ?
Hi Chaitra, I can cook, although given our current shoot schedule I haven't ventured into my home kitchen in a while. Food at home is mostly traditional, with influences from Karnataka, Mangalore and Tamil Nadu. Since I eat out a fair bit, I prefer simple meals at home.

You supported farmers and organizer it's well and good.
For that matter, every hotelier relies on veggies and eventually farmers. The farmer story here is a thing of the past. It's commercial now...

In Kodubale, kodu means horns, as the part where they join the bale ( bangles ) looks like horn.

More than the food, I am inspired by the whole concept of how an elderly lady pioneered the use of a crop, ultimately helping a set of farmers. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
