Neat trick with the rolling count down!
You should probably mention to adjust the number of frames based on the timeline's FPS, since you're obviously working with 24 frames, and the keyframes would be too fast with higher framerates.

Yes but how do u set a specific time for it to countdown from (not based on clip length)? For example, I want it to start counting down from 2 hours for only a 5-sec portion of a clip. I edit the text before doing a compound clip and it bugs out.

you can just freez the last frame, also you can cut every other frame from the freezed one to make it blink
