This is possibly the healthiest, most sensible uni diet I have ever seen. I wish I could eat better at uni, but I just get so lazy and hate cooking, so I usually have ready meals, which are kinda expensive and not healthy at all!
The food issue has literally been on my mind for ages and I found this by chance and am so relieved. Food is a big part of my life sounds stupid I know but I'm not one of those people who enjoys eating shit food just because it's cheap, I love my body to much to fill it with stuff that's not good for me.
I'm actually so glad you made this, I've applied for uni this year and being a vegetarian I've been especially worried about food and if I'll manage when I leave home. This sort of food seems so manageable though, hurrah!
Okay so when you showed your teas I was like "oou I have this 'cupper' tea too!" And then I took at closer look at the packaging and it said 'clipper' tea. And for a minute I thought my whole life was a lie and that I somehow read it wrong for month now. Until I googled it to find out the exact same brand with the exact same packaging is called 'clipper' in the UK and 'cupper' in Germany. That was enough heart racing for one day
This randomly came up on my feed, scarily similar when I was at uni last year.... Love how like 'ordinary' this is like just standard healthy food? Thanks for showing good food in student life!!!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO. I'm also at uni now, and like food is really on my mind right now. I'm trying to save on food right now, because last year I spent too much. But it's hard because I also want to buy a lot of fruit, preferably ecological. So now I've started with every time I shop I keep the receipts and then I categorize all my food so I can see what I'm spending the most on and it's super exciting to me.
At first I'm like "ugh, why do I care" and then I press play and then I realize. Oh yes. That's why. I DON'T KNOW BUT IT MAKES ME HAPPY, OKAY. Do you create meal plans/budgets? Or does your weekly shopping fluctuate? Okay, now I'm invested. No turning back. FOOD.
The shittest daily vlog on the internet is actually my favourite :) Usually when someone does a daily vlog I get bored after two or three days, but that hasn't happened at all with yours. I genuinely look forward to watching your videos, they are so interesting! I hope you will do this again in the no too distant future! x
I've graduated from uni but am trying to save up a ton of money right now to travel (while still paying for rent/petrol/etc), so this gave me some ideas of how I can cut down on my costs. It seems like simplifying things is a good way to save! Having a huge stash of tea is my guilty pleasure as well. That ginger orange vanilla one sounds so good!
It's so cool how many people were relieved after watching this. I do have a question for you people: How do you bloody decide what you want to study? How do you choose what's best for you? And how exactly did you figure out what you want to become? Appearently I had a few more questions. Thanks in advance :)
I'm vegan and think there is nothing more important than health so I prioritise grocery shopping over spending loads on nights out and alcohol, which is why most students can't afford healthy food anyway!
oh lucy, i think you're VERY healthy!!! I am away for college and sometimes I end up eating cereal or just corn flakes for all meals throughout the day! I feel guilty now.. lol
I've got a microwave pasty in the freezer and a sachet of rice. I think i need to go food shopping... but the temptation to go to the 24-hour McDonald's two minutes from my front door is greater :(
I buy those noodles all the time they make the best stirfry! Loved this video its one of the only healthy what I eat videos that is affordable and still contains biscuits, cause really who can live without biscuits ;)
Oh my goodness that Twinings camomile and spiced apple tea is the best! I'm really surprised to see a packaged product in this that's the same as what we can buy in New Zealand.
The amount you spend is so low! I consider myself really quite good with money, but £10-25, that's so great if you can buy healthy food for that much. When I was at university, I found myself eating a lot of carbs and I wasn't very good at the whole eating healthily thing. Since I graduated and started living and working in a new town, I have an awesome local market and something is always cheap, so I try and buy lots of that. I think I could just live off fruit sometimes. It's just so good.
Yeah, markets are great! There's one right outside my local Sainsburys so I get a lot of my groceries from there. Fruit is my vice - I love it so much.
I'm curious to know, how you make your couscous and what you have with it? I love couscous but have never attempted to cook it because I imagine it would be really bland by itself, but I have no idea how to season/flavour it!! x
+Nia Nicholas don't know if this is a relevant answer anymore, but I usually make couscous into a salad with chopped up tomato/capsican/cucumber etc, and season it with lemon juice, salt n pepper, tyme, garlic or whatever spices you like best! Adding yoghurt as well is really yum, and and binds the salad together! Additionally you can serve the couscous as a rice with a stew, curry or whatever
what do you think of catered accommodation in uni?? i've been to a few uni openings and most students say it is cheaper to go catered and self catered people can get a bit lazy and then they just buy their meals from the canteen
Ahhh this looks so similar to what I buy every week, haha. I like being able to buy a few cheap veg ingredients and turning it into a meal that'll serve six and then just freezing four or five of those servings. Makes life a bit easier :>
We don't buy drinks when we're out because two drinks comes to about £8-£12 in London. We pre-drink cheap cider, beer and spirits before we go out, generally costing a maximum of £10. Prices vary depending on how good the club is, but some weeks I will spend hardly anything and others it will cost £14 for one night.
I have an odd flavouring combo involving: Yellow cheese Cream cheese Ketchup Sweet chilli sauce And the best ingredient; dried apricots.... I know, but it is actually much better than it sounds...

This cleared up my biggest fear about uni. I've heard so much about people hardly eating and relying on junk and ramen, this helped so thanks.

Ainsley Harriet may just be my staple when I move out in two weeks
The pasta/couscous sachets... Not the man... Just in case someone gets confused...
+Amelia Snape these comments made me laugh.
You have a lot of VEDJtables!
This video has been making me think about student finances and money and things and it's super depressing.
It's so cool how many people were relieved after watching this. I do have a question for you people: How do you bloody decide what you want to study? How do you choose what's best for you? And how exactly did you figure out what you want to become?

The Pukka ginger tea is an absolute treat!! Really recommend it. Great vid Lucy :) x

Thanks, for that I will have to consider what I'm going to eat which will also include cutting down on the meat and decide on when and how to shop.
This is awesome for me, as I'm vegetarian and I was quite worried about my budget for my food. Thanks!
Thank you for this! I am not as worried about food at uni now :) (I really need to try more types of tea)
oh lucy, i think you're VERY healthy!!! I am away for college and sometimes I end up eating cereal or just corn flakes for all meals throughout the day! I feel guilty now.. lol
OMFG IT'S LUCY I DIDN'T EVEN REALISE WHEN I CLICKED ON THE VIDEO YAY LUCYYY
Oh thank you! I'm heading to uni soon and I've been concerned that all I would be eating is boxed pasta 😬
BBY LUCY

Haha your uni food is soooo much more impressive than mine when I was living on campus!
I have such a similar cupboard today! Massive relief :)
Ahhh this looks so similar to what I buy every week, haha. I like being able to buy a few cheap veg ingredients and turning it into a meal that'll serve six and then just freezing four or five of those servings. Makes life a bit easier :>
I have 6 different types of green tea in my uni cupboards. I think i have a slight addiction.
What do you drink and also if you spend £25ish on shopping how much at uni do you spend on nights out?

I think you may eat better at uni than I eat as a married homeowner... yikes, my kitchen was just put into perspective.
All the food cost about 10 to 25 pounds? Or how much?
My sister is adicted to couscous aswell haha, great video!
Couscous is pretty rad.
I eat SO MUCH CHEESY COUSCOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best comment on VEDJ so far.
I have an odd flavouring combo involving:
Yellow cheese
Cream cheese
Ketchup
Sweet chilli sauce
And the best ingredient; dried apricots....
I know, but it is actually much better than it sounds...
I really like your videos :)
Thank you!
