Sebastian is so sweet, and it is so good seeing him feel better. My adult son has progressive sensorineural hearing loss as well as progressive retinal degeneration. He is now mostly deaf, However, when he had moderate to severe hearing loss, he could hear us if we were close to him. He also benefitted from hearing aids, when he would wear them. His behavior made cochlear implants off the table. So keep on talking to Sebastian and playing music to him and know that he will benefit from it!
Stephanie, your comment about Sebastian only going to school 2 days a week for 2-3 hrs. because you can't imagine him being with strangers any longer than that?? They'll only be strangers because you're so resistant to letting him be there. He'll adjust and get to know them when you let him and it will be so good for him! You must deal with your separation anxiety so you don't continue to hold him back. I have a special needs son and I wasn't excited about him away from me but I did what was right for him. We kept an eye on everything and popped in to his classroom so we could see things were going well. You can do the same..just don't live there. You need to fill your void too when he is there.

My father was very involved with the Cocular . He was director of an oral deaf school for most of his career. With that said Sebastian seems to hear well , his responses seem appropriate. The implant isn’t an easy fix and requires a lot . I would be really cautious in putting him and you through all that it would take to implement and care for it his whole life. At this point I feel you would regret that decision. At 67 I would have done a few things differently with our 45 year old , special needs daughter. 🙏🏽It may be that if his recognition is slow, it might be something more than a hearing problem . Also I’ve learned Dr (not intentionally but love to be a hero by doing things that they think our kids need .

This is just an idea regarding your sweet boy leaning to one side. My daughter had the same issue. Her physical therapist had us use swimming pool noodles and we would cut them down to size. You can even cut them long ways in half so they aren't so thick. I would just wrap a thin baby blanket around it and place the noodle on the side she would lean. Just an idea!! Also I love watching Sebastian verbalize and communicate with you in his special way!!! 💕
I understand about being hard of hearing. I have a hearing aid in each ear. My left side is almost totally deaf without it. The implants will help Sebastian out greatly!💕😘

Poor little guy. There is nothing worse than an earache. I am 75 now, and I started having them as a 2 week old. I still get them. My mother used to rock me in a rocking chair and it did help some. If I lived closer I'd offer to rock him. His clothes are precious darling, I can't wait to see him all dressed up.

Sabastian obviously knows, sees and hears more than we're aware and when Dad enters room the excitement, joy and smiles gave it all away. I could watch it over and over. All I pray for is, that you don't answer to trolls, inappropriate questions or accusations. It will ruin your spirit momma. Educate and explain but please ignore all negativity. They hate that more than anything. All I've witnessed is two incredible parents doing an amazing job. Sometimes things are figured out through trial and error. Sabastian is soooo blessed 🙏🏻✌🏻❤👣🧸🍦🏎️

I used to have really bad ear infections when I was little. It's awful but there's nothing other than clearing the infection up with meds that makes it better. Mine used to block off and there was a lot of pressure which was painful!

I understand about not wanting him around strangers for too long of a time, it’s scary when you don’t know ppl and he can’t tell you how his day was but I can tell you they will fall in love with him like all of us in youtube land has❤ Dr’s are wrong all the time and God can change everything far as his vision and hearing goes I truly believe that. Dr’s tell ppl that have spine or leg injuries they’ll never walk again and get proven wrong so anything is possible. Hey Stephanie. Have you thought about contacting a company that makes custom wheel chairs and stuff like that to see if they could design a chair, without wheels, for Sebastian to use a meal times? I think you might have better luck finding what you want for him by having one made that you design.

Hey Stephanie. Have you thought about contacting a company that makes custom wheel chairs and stuff like that to see if they could design a chair, without wheels, for Sebastian to use a meal times? I think you might have better luck finding what you want for him by having one made that you design.
