ALRIGHT GUYS, I'VE FINALLY UPDATED MY WEBSITE! You all can find the written summary of Iliad book 14 via this link :) I hope these help xx www.moaninc.co.uk/homers-iliad/book-14-summary
Awesome recap and, I must say, the whole "Head on a Stick" thing, when I read it, made me pause for sure. Not that there have not been gruesome deaths before ... but this one, combined with the "Trash Talk" was quite something. Great job. I wonder if your channel, or others, have done a "Gruesome Death Top 10" list or something! :)
@@MoAnInc Thank you, but I realize I should have been more specific with my question. Yes, I have the Odyssey in the chamber ready to go (I'm enjoying re-reading these epics in Robert Fagles' translations supplemented with your video summaries). I suppose my question is more precisely: What recommended reading would round out the siege of Troy after the conclusions of the Iliad?
I do not know what source you use or if you translate yourself, but you have some mistranslations of key words which lead to interpretations wide of the mark. Aphrodite gave Hera a famous love charm: a kestos (embroidered) himas (strap). It is not an item of clothing. If Hera was wearing a breast plate or a girdle (belt), Zeus would see she was wearing Aphrodite's stuff and be wary. It is a strap, a love charm, worn by women in ancient times under the breasts under the clothes. The embroidery depicts personifications of things like desire and longing and seductive talk. The charm works through sympathetic magic on an unsuspecting man. Zeus was not terrified of Night. Verse 14.261 says he was awed and did not want to do to NIght anything disheartening or displeasing. The word is apo (away from) thymia (heart). Night, of course, is a good place to hide in anyway, but out of respect for a primordial elder, Zeus did not want to beat up Sleep in front of his mother. I like your enthusiasm.

“Needs more this, more THAT, even” 😂😂 Just found this channel and already love it!
Really enjoying your synopsis of each book. Thank you.
Thank you :))))
You’re the best this one was super enjoyable
🥺❤️
This series has been my life for the past three days lol
🥺❤️
@@MoAnInc you're fantastic Erica, I'll be listening to alllll the books on your channel, these books would've been too intimidating for me otherwise
OK, that got me really intrigued by Nyx. Maybe an idea for a future video? 😅
I will definitely be searching for Nyx mentions and try my best to put together a little video!

I haven’t done a video like that just yet, but now I certainly want to!!!!
maybe Poseidon's scream is like Pan the satyr's scream, where he screams and everyone around him feels an immense panic?? Maybe same idea?
Oh. Girl this is good.
Hector spinning reminds me of the shooting stars meme
I’ve taken note of the books you’ve stacked as these chapters develop. Any recommended reading to immediately follow The Iliad?
Well definitely the Odyssey first and foremost 🤓 Then with that base you can dip in and out of whatever you’d like!

Your one sentence reviews are always hilarious and accurate lmao let's go Hera!
and boooo to Zeus for listing his mistresses to his wife!
The line where Zeus lists off all the women he’s cheated on his wife with genuinely makes me laugh every single time I read it 😂🫠
This video series is amazing, in the future do the odyssey too... please¡¡¡. Congrats from Mexico.
Thank you!!!! I will be doing the Odyssey next haha ❤️
can you answer this for me ? I'm really confused now, What did you
learn about Greek gods and Greek mythology in Books 14 and 15
