Thank you very much for the number count tip. I don't fly fish as much as I wish and go long spells where I don't get a chance for one reason or another and I tend to get a bit rusty and it takes me a little time to get back my touch with the fly rod and I think your tip should help me a lot the next time I do go fishing. It seems so simple once you think about it and should make it easier not to focus so hard on getting the perfect cast and just use the count and do it. Thanks again.
@@newflyfisher So I assume the same goes for bamboo then, even though you have to slow your cast down a wee bit and allow the rod to do it's job? I ask because I have a bamboo rod being built for me.
General thought is downstream at like a 45 degree angle for swinging flies, and upstream if you want a dead drift presentation. Really depends on what you’re fishing, what type of flies, and the water.
Decent casts but this casting form looks terrible, don't go 10 to 2 unless you're fishing for birds in the sky. I find that you don't need to move your body for a nice presentation. I wouldn't recommend a beginner to emulate this.

No wonder there is so much confusion about fly casting, videos like this one just add fuel to the fire. I would not consider these tips remotely close to "Fly casting Fundamentals."
Just had my 10 year old granddaughter watch your video very basic and informative by the way my granddaughter fly fish's with me
1,2,3 is probably the best verbal directions I’ve heard! Thanks
I have been on fly fishing for 2 years but I can still benefit from this video. It’s helpful. Thanks!

Does the 1,2,3 technique work for all rod actions, like fast action vs. moderate actions?
Good question, usually this timing is for medium to fast action rods of today.

What is better: casting flies upstream? Or casting flies downstream?
Upstream in most scenarios

It really depends on the situation.
1...2...3...1...2...3... ahhh the old waltz of the fly angler.
Why isn’t the double haul ever mentioned in 101 casting videos? It’s how she is getting “energy” ??
She is speaking of the basic cast. For learning the double haul, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/q9_x-cjBMF8/видео.html
