the fact that he flew into a panic when the listener was found to have a fever, combined with the "I wont let this happen again" and "I can't lose another" makes me think that in the very beginning of being in the north, the OG listener aka his spouse did come with him, caught fever and died.
Yeah. I have an OC for every different listener-chan, and the princess that married Pharos is named Ariana in my headcanons, and when I heard this one, I was like, "Is Ariana DEAD??? Nooooo!" At least Lily is safe with Jackall, Coralyn is (for now) with Fendall, Lucy escaped the Hotel Sanguine, and Avaline got left in Naro's dungeon but at least she's alive. Just a few of my favorite listener-chans. Sorry for the ramble, lol.
It's also possible that the original listener stayed behind and became the new ruler of the land 🤔 Then here in the mountains our former emporer found a new companion who then died on a fever ._.

We can't really tell how long he's been there. At least 5 years. He's bound to have met and bonded with some other people. Then lost a few of them because of the harsh weather. But honestly, it makes more sense, video wise, that it was his spouse from the orginal series that died of a fever in that cabin with him. And he would blame the fact that he was inexperienced, just as he seems to be doubting him self as he picks the herbs for the medicine. It makes no sense he would react this much on a death of someone else he barely knew. UNLESS it was more than one, and the number of deaths for him not being able to take care of them from a fever was just THAT many.
The way I smiled when I saw this, it brings back memories of when I first stumbled into this channel by clicking on the 'forced to marry an arrogant prince' video a few months back. I can proudly say that Pharos is still one of my most favourite characters to this day, and I just know I'm gonna cry like a baby from this already.

The little hints that this is Pharos is adorable. The slip up with his name, mentioning the palace, and of course the iconic voice with the image. But the sense of denial is also saddening. It shows that he really wants to leave his old life behind, but we don’t know why. Could he regret his decent to madness? The pain of losing his lover? Mourning the loss of his family?
I think it is the 1st one. Pharos' kinda flips out with us having a fever, and he has a history of flipping out when loved one die. Maybe with Listener having a fever might have given him bad flash backs.

The “not again” and “I can’t lose another” makes me believe that a lot of the comments here are spot on, that the listener went with him and ended up dying from hypothermia or an illness. You made it sound like there will be another, and I’m excited to listen for it!

If I remember correctly (is been a long time I didn't listen the series) the Prince said we were loved because we were good and actually listen the people unlike him and if we've stayed we've rule well so I dont think the first listener were put in prison ( or I don't remember, I should listen again )

I’m new to this channel, and I’m hearing that there was an og series where in the end we most likely died of a fever. I absolutely love this series, and I really hope that in the end we live in the cozy lil cabin with him ^^
Pharos with 8 years of worldly living in him is beautiful. Utterly gorgeous. He's warm and caring and self-aware and I know everyone here is like "oh we dead" but I'm way happier that he LIVED. He spends his time with books and hunting and solace but the core of his character is still a lack of something vital, all the more poignant now because we know exactly what it was. I'm so glad he's back.
He's come a long way, honestly. Gotta give him respect for surviving, becoming humble, and that small bud of caring growing into something so much bigger.
He's the MAD fallen prince. The listener had him on house arrest ("under care") while he/she sets about restoring the rights and freedoms of the people in their kingdom. This obviously hasn't gone well for the listener, who fell ill from the pressure and stress of the kingdom's fallout and the many tensions and conflicts to resolve from all sides. The mage clans want justice and many are demanding blood and the listener can only do so much to mediate and maintain the peace to assure the horrified nobility and bureaucrats of any magic curses directed back at them by the vengeful mages. When the listener's illness became worse, they had been bedridden and transferred from the palace suites to a healer's cottage in the city and can no longer visit the prince in the outskirts manor. Being told that he can no longer visit and care for the sick listener, it severely made the prince's paranoia worse (he already warned the listener that restoring peace would be difficult, even fatal, there would be some factions on both sides who would want nothing more than get rid of the prince and his consort altogether instead of any compromises.) Despite the prince being told that his love is merely running a natural fever due to a weakened constitution, he can't help but let his fear and paranoia run wild: What if some mage cursed his beloved for allowing his atrocity to happen? What if it was his political opponent or one of his rivals who poisoned them? As the days passed without being able to see or care for the listener, grim, sinister conspiracies begin forming in his mind. What if his beloved is already dead/killed and they're only telling him lies to keep him there so they can dispose of him next once all of this is done? Gripped with horror, he snuck past the manor's lax security and patrols (his lover's last act of kindness and trust) and headed towards the palace. Sneaking through a hidden passage. He searched every room in their old suite. To his horror, they were empty. They were gone, the only one who loved him, killed by his own political machinations and desperate grabs for power. Betrayed and heartbroken, he sets out into the night, leaving his home, his kingdom. With every step, the overwhelming pain and grief became too unbearable. He wanted to just give up and forget, but he's too much of a coward to end his own life. Maybe a life beyond the cold north wouldn't be so bad. He has heard the tales of enchanted cold there that can chill even the warmth of memories. And beyond it, a land of plenty and abundance, protected by blizzards the broken and the suffering wanders into to erase their pains and a chance for the promised paradise. ==== The illness ran it's course and the listener finally recovered after weeks in the cottage. The council and their advisors finally decided that the listener is well enough to receive the news of the prince's disappearance. The listener became horrified, and since the entire kingdom has been searched, the only conclusion is that the prince had left. For what reason, the listener can only guess. ==== Years have passed since the listener has left the restored kingdom to his advisors and travelled the expanse of the world, hopeful and refusing to accept their prince as lost, and out of desperation, they have at last decided to venture into the frigid wastes that is the north. The listener had heard stories of wandering nomads and deserters living and hiding on the vast icy remotes. A promised land of plenty hidden beyond the frozen wastes guarded by said nomads. The listener believes the prince might have retreated to such a place. But innkeepers and rangers along the way have warned the listener of the chilling blizzards and winds that not only steal the heat from the body, but rip out the warmth in your soul, the unguarded can lose a part of their identity and even memories to the frigid gales. Undaunted, the listener trudged the icy terrain, but as the snow and ice blew about, they immediately realized their folly. They hope they find shelter soon...

I missed this boy so much and now that we have been BLESSED with an update of our boy, I am just GLOWING every time he laughs. He sounds so relaxed and happy, and it clears my skin! Of course, I know very well this will not keep up.because Pharos exists to break my heart but I still love him 💕

I'm the only one who's thinking when Fendal did that tarot card reading and said how we perceive ourselfs, and in a partnership,he said "it's a happy meeting between past and present,(it could be Pharos and Fendal maybe?) but while reading the last card (partner card) Our gorgeous blonde boy seemed so sad and disappointed that he wasn't the one who was described,in that time maybe he thought it was Augus, but could be Pharos the one that was talking about? I say this because in the last reading card (partner card) said "the two of you will show great strength to forgive each other and continue together with your life ", and due to the promise that Fendal made us promise in the last video,makes me wonder if that's maybe why he wasn't in our future in that last card? 💔
I'm so happy he's back and has grown ;_; I just hope the theory about his spouse dying from fever is wrong. I always hoped he would change and make up properly with them. Also, back when he offered the choice to stay behind or flee with him I would have ditched his ass right there. Only now that he has had time to grow does he deserve a second chance to be with his former spouse, imo. I'd love that.
YALL omg i think the og listener did take his hand and ran away but in their third year out there the og fell sick (and that's when pharos learned the recipe for the drink) and the og didn't survive, which kinda traumatized pharos so he was so panicked when he found that this listener has a fever 🙈
Now this makes me wonder. Jackal and the mage head north not long after Pharos goes mad and the empire is in shambles. In this video, Pharos has been living in the Northern Rim for several years. Also I can't get rid of that feeling of familiarity with his fake name... Where have I heard that before..

Pharo panicked when the listener got a fever even saying "I can't lose another"
Original Listener didn't _leave_ did they? Original Listener died didn't they? Sickness? The small war? Original Listener WAS thrown in a prison (if I remember correctly) sickness ain't uncommon. And they WERE a traitor and probably hated by everyone in the empire. Ok thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
If I remember correctly (is been a long time I didn't listen the series) the Prince said we were loved because we were good and actually listen the people unlike him and if we've stayed we've rule well so I dont think the first listener were put in prison ( or I don't remember, I should listen again )
I don't know what's worse, the comments saying we escaped with him and died or the comments saying we abandoned him for the kingdom.
I'm just gonna sit in my corner and not think about it.

I’m new to this channel, and I’m hearing that there was an og series where in the end we most likely died of a fever. I absolutely love this series, and I really hope that in the end we live in the cozy lil cabin with him ^^
Pharos with 8 years of worldly living in him is beautiful. Utterly gorgeous. He's warm and caring and self-aware and I know everyone here is like "oh we dead" but I'm way happier that he LIVED. He spends his time with books and hunting and solace but the core of his character is still a lack of something vital, all the more poignant now because we know exactly what it was. I'm so glad he's back.
Are we not talking about the fact that he lost his eye TO BOUNTY HUNTERS?
He's come a long way, honestly. Gotta give him respect for surviving, becoming humble, and that small bud of caring growing into something so much bigger.
He's the MAD fallen prince. The listener had him on house arrest ("under care") while he/she sets about restoring the rights and freedoms of the people in their kingdom.
This obviously hasn't gone well for the listener, who fell ill from the pressure and stress of the kingdom's fallout and the many tensions and conflicts to resolve from all sides.
The mage clans want justice and many are demanding blood and the listener can only do so much to mediate and maintain the peace to assure the horrified nobility and bureaucrats of any magic curses directed back at them by the vengeful mages.
When the listener's illness became worse, they had been bedridden and transferred from the palace suites to a healer's cottage in the city and can no longer visit the prince in the outskirts manor.
Being told that he can no longer visit and care for the sick listener, it severely made the prince's paranoia worse (he already warned the listener that restoring peace would be difficult, even fatal, there would be some factions on both sides who would want nothing more than get rid of the prince and his consort altogether instead of any compromises.)
Despite the prince being told that his love is merely running a natural fever due to a weakened constitution, he can't help but let his fear and paranoia run wild: What if some mage cursed his beloved for allowing his atrocity to happen? What if it was his political opponent or one of his rivals who poisoned them?
As the days passed without being able to see or care for the listener, grim, sinister conspiracies begin forming in his mind. What if his beloved is already dead/killed and they're only telling him lies to keep him there so they can dispose of him next once all of this is done?
Gripped with horror, he snuck past the manor's lax security and patrols (his lover's last act of kindness and trust) and headed towards the palace.
Sneaking through a hidden passage. He searched every room in their old suite.
To his horror, they were empty.
They were gone, the only one who loved him, killed by his own political machinations and desperate grabs for power.
Betrayed and heartbroken, he sets out into the night, leaving his home, his kingdom.
With every step, the overwhelming pain and grief became too unbearable. He wanted to just give up and forget, but he's too much of a coward to end his own life.
Maybe a life beyond the cold north wouldn't be so bad. He has heard the tales of enchanted cold there that can chill even the warmth of memories. And beyond it, a land of plenty and abundance, protected by blizzards the broken and the suffering wanders into to erase their pains and a chance for the promised paradise.

The illness ran it's course and the listener finally recovered after weeks in the cottage.
The council and their advisors finally decided that the listener is well enough to receive the news of the prince's disappearance.
The listener became horrified, and since the entire kingdom has been searched, the only conclusion is that the prince had left. For what reason, the listener can only guess.

Years have passed since the listener has left the restored kingdom to his advisors and travelled the expanse of the world, hopeful and refusing to accept their prince as lost, and out of desperation, they have at last decided to venture into the frigid wastes that is the north.
The listener had heard stories of wandering nomads and deserters living and hiding on the vast icy remotes. A promised land of plenty hidden beyond the frozen wastes guarded by said nomads. The listener believes the prince might have retreated to such a place.
But innkeepers and rangers along the way have warned the listener of the chilling blizzards and winds that not only steal the heat from the body, but rip out the warmth in your soul, the unguarded can lose a part of their identity and even memories to the frigid gales.
Undaunted, the listener trudged the icy terrain, but as the snow and ice blew about, they immediately realized their folly.
They hope they find shelter soon...

I missed this boy so much and now that we have been BLESSED with an update of our boy, I am just GLOWING every time he laughs. He sounds so relaxed and happy, and it clears my skin! Of course, I know very well this will not keep up.because Pharos exists to break my heart but I still love him 💕

For real though, I've always wondered what happened to this boy. Thank you so much for blessing us with an answer! I love the implication that the OG listener did indeed stay to help the Empire get back on its feet. It's what I would've done in that situation.
I'm honestly really glad we got another vid with this guy. Most people would leave the promiscuous ending and be done with it, but we really get to see his whole character come full circle with this one.
Christmas came early and Pharos is back!!! I love this audio so much, he's so nervous and caring and ughhh. My poor baby lost an eye and his lover and I just wanna hug him. This is amazing and I hope we get a second part!

I'm the only one who's thinking when Fendal did that tarot card reading and said how we perceive ourselfs, and in a partnership,he said "it's a happy meeting between past and present,(it could be Pharos and Fendal maybe?) but while reading the last card (partner card) Our gorgeous blonde boy seemed so sad and disappointed that he wasn't the one who was described,in that time maybe he thought it was Augus, but could be Pharos the one that was talking about? I say this because in the last reading card (partner card) said "the two of you will show great strength to forgive each other and continue together with your life ", and due to the promise that Fendal made us promise in the last video,makes me wonder if that's maybe why he wasn't in our future in that last card? 💔
I'm so happy he's back and has grown ;_; I just hope the theory about his spouse dying from fever is wrong. I always hoped he would change and make up properly with them. Also, back when he offered the choice to stay behind or flee with him I would have ditched his ass right there. Only now that he has had time to grow does he deserve a second chance to be with his former spouse, imo. I'd love that.

YALL omg i think the og listener did take his hand and ran away but in their third year out there the og fell sick (and that's when pharos learned the recipe for the drink) and the og didn't survive, which kinda traumatized pharos so he was so panicked when he found that this listener has a fever 🙈

Now this makes me wonder. Jackal and the mage head north not long after Pharos goes mad and the empire is in shambles. In this video, Pharos has been living in the Northern Rim for several years. Does that mean Jackal and the mage discovered what lies beyond the North and others are trying to follow in their wake?
